Allen Hurns signing two-year deal with Dallas Cowboys The Dallas Cowboys made their first offensive free-agent acquisition of the offseason, and it's at a position of need. Receiver Allen Hurns told ESPN's Josina Anderson on Friday he is "going to sign with Dallas." Hurns is signing a two-year deal with the Cowboys, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per sources informed of the situation. Hurns was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier in the week. The Cowboys have been looking to upgrade the receiving corps this offseason. NFL Network's Jane Slater reported early in free agency that Dallas made an overture to Sammy Watkins, who ended up signing in Kansas City. The early offseason speculation regarding Dez Bryant's status with the Cowboys has quieted as big-play receivers signed elsewhere. Hurns could provide a solid complement to Bryant and should be an upgrade over Terrance Williams. He also could challenge Cole Beasley, who is in the last year of his contract, for slot snaps -- Hurns ran 58 percent of his snaps from the slot in 2017, per Next Gen Stats. Hurns had just 39 receptions for 484 yards in 10 games in 2017, but is just two years removed from a 1,031-yard, 10-touchdown season in 2015 (it's worth noting: during his breakout campaign in Jacksonville, he spent the majority of his snaps -- 62 percent -- lined up out wide. When healthy, Hurns is a solid route runner with good speed and run-after-the-catch ability. With Dak Prescott throwing him the ball, the wideout could recapture that 2015 form. (NFL.com)
He's actually the SECOND offensive free agent Dallas signed - WR Deonte Thompson signed yesterday. Have to wonder who the odd man out will be: Cole Beasley or Terrence Williams?
He is going to do some community service and pay some restitution. This was a dick move but it isn't anything "bad".
Ya he is a bitch. That's a major reason people didn't like the trade but there are enough established leaders in place that he shouldn't be an issue.
The Los Angeles Chargers will be without one of their top defensive players for a quarter of the 2018 season. Corey Liuget was suspended Friday for the first four games for next year (PEDS).
Martellus Bennett Bennett announced his retirement via his personal twitter account on Friday. Bennett made comments hinting at his retirement during the 2017 season and had been mulling the decision over the past couple months. In nine games last year, split between the Packers and Patriots, the tight end recorded 286 yards on 30 catches. He bounced between the Cowboys, Giants, Bears, Patriots, and Packers over the course of his 10-year career, totaling 4,573 yards and 30 touchdowns on 433 receptions.
Cardinals send Jared Veldheer to Broncos The Broncos have completed a deal for offensive tackle Jared Veldheer, the teams announced. The Cardinals will get a sixth-round pick in return. Veldheer, 30, has started most of his 101 games at left tackle. But he also played right tackle and right guard last season and spent some time at center during his rookie season of 2010. The Broncos expect him to start at right tackle, upgrading their line. Veldheer spent four years in Oakland after the Raiders made him a third-round pick and four years in Arizona after signing a five-year, $35 million contract in free agency in 2014. D.J. Humphries becomes Arizona’s left tackle. (PFT)
Andre Roberts signs one-year deal with Jets The Jets announced they signed receiver Andre Roberts to a one-year contract. While Roberts made only one catch for the Falcons last season, he averaged 22.6 yards on 38 kickoff returns and 7.4 yards on 27 punt returns. The Jets expect him to take over those duties for them. Roberts, 30, has averaged 23.4 yards in his career on kickoff returns with one touchdown and 8.1 yards on punt returns with two scores. In eight seasons, he has played for four teams. The Cardinals made him a third-round pick in 2013, and he also spent time with Washington and Detroit as well as the one season he spent in Atlanta. (PFT)
Browns sign CB E.J. Gaines; reunites with former DC... E.J. Gaines is reuniting with defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. The free-agent cornerback is signing with the Cleveland Browns, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Friday, per a source informed of the decision. A 2014 sixth-round pick by the Rams, Gaines enjoyed the best season of his career in Buffalo last year in Sean McDermott's zone-heavy system, primarily playing the right side of the defense. He was traded to Buffalo as part of the Sammy Watkins deal. The 26-year-old struggled early in his career, particularly a problematic 2016 campaign. Some of those troubles were attributed to soft-tissue injuries. Given that he did struggle in Williams' system while flourishing outside of it, Gaines' role in Cleveland will be one to track this offseason. Gaines joins newcomers Damarious Randall (safety), Terrance Mitchell (corner), and T.J. Carrie (corner) in the Browns' secondary. Safeties Jabrill Peppers and Derrick Kindred, and corners Jamar Taylor and Briean Boddy-Calhoun round out the top of the depth chart. (NFL.com)
I'm not too sure. Trouble seems to find him and the Eagles must have known this, because its obvious, but usually the play on the field overrides the off-field stuff. Same thing for Suh. Good luck with him, I'm not a fan, but will admit he's a football player... I just wish guy's like him would get their heads screwed on straight, but he probably thinks the same thing about me.
One interesting article I read on Steelerdepot was about the top 5 games by a QB last season. 1 Brady week 15 2 Wilson week 4 3 Foles NFCCG 4 Foles SB 5 Big Ben Week 12 Keep Foles trade Wentz
Note how Brady's SB was not on there. Throwing to wide open WRs is not a knock but it isn't going to give you tons of credit. P.S. Foles played in the NFCCG.
Isn’t going to get you tons of credit...... on Steelersdepot. Big Ben’s week 12 threw for 150 less yards, less TDs and more picks than Brady in the SB. Have to think winning is a prerequisite. And Wilson’s week 4 ...less than 300 yards and 2 picks equals 2nd best performance? I disagree They even have Brady all wrong, nothing special week 15.
