Where Do We Go From Here?

  1. They kinda go hand in hand...you may identify the coverage but the window closes so fast your late on the throw

I know "pro-day hype" is real, but I think I'm completely okay with Josh Rosen at this point....Of all the QB prospects, he looks the "part" more than any...

I'm just being honest...If the Browns select Mayfield, Darnold or Rosen, I'm happy...

If they go Josh Allen, I'm gonna cross my fingers and hold my breath until I'm blue....I just can't endorse him after watching the film. And I've watched a ton. He's basically Kizer all over again...Yes he has a better arm, but he absolutely makes just as many mind numbing throws as Kizer ever did...I love his athleticism, and his arm is amazing, but we've been here before,,,Let's not do this again. There's no way the Browns are taking Allen.

    Mel Kiper is a tool...

Oh, Mike Mayock also said at least a thousand times that Josh Allen is a "natural leader of men".....

    I don't see it.....

What is Mayock seeing that I can't see?

This is why you cannot get caught up in using just statistics to evaluate and project prospects to the next level.

  5. I agree but if I had to guess those #s were done vs Maryland, Illinois, Minny, Rutgers etc

I really kinda hate having L.S.U. on my avatar....but I also love it, because that was one of the greatest catches I've ever seen in my life...and that dude plays for the Cleveland Browns.

The Wyoming locker room is said to have leaned on Josh's leadership all season. While everyone was questioning his skill position players, Allen was supposedly shouldering all the blame.

He adapted his game this season to what the coaches asked of him, namely taking on a much larger role in the passing game. A lot of this was driven by an offensive line that was notably worse in 2017.

That's something that you cannot get out of simply reading the stats.

Fair enough...I'm only looking at what I see on the field. Which is sometimes spectacular, but too often sub par.

Which is understandable, because that information is almost always secondhand and makes it nearly impossible to properly quantify.

I see a player with elite arm capability, which is a bit different from natural arm talent. All the physical wants are there, and he flashes the ability. Consistency is his greatest wart and it's the reason he should be looked at as a project with upside and should be drafted to a situation where he can sit for at least one full year.

Learning on the job could end his career quickly.

Hey, if the Browns take Josh Allen, that is a big roll of the dice.....I just don't think there is ANY way they can afford to try that again...

but I do love to roll those dice...

There's no doubt Josh Allen has the highest ceiling....It's the floor that scares me away from him.

Not that anyone asked Tim, but the reports on him remind me of Aaron Rodgers when he came out of Cal. Obviously there is only one Rodgers, but it does sound so familiar.

Welcome to the thread greatwazoo....but, Huh? I don't know what you are reading into those reports, but there's a big difference between 64% completions, and 57% .......Other than arm strength, i don't really get that comparison at all....Then again, I'm not all that crazy about comparisons to begin with. But If I had to compare Allen to a current NFL QB, It's gotta be Matt Stafford.

  16. Stafford #1 pick lol...oh boy

Yeah TD... I'm not really talking about stats. The reports on him is really what I'm talking about. ie. opinions... And thank you for the kind welcome.

Actually, this was team Landry...He organized the entire trip and Tyrod obliged. I happy to see all of them together trying to make this team better. I don't care where the invite came from, I care about the ones that checked the yes box on that invite.

Here is what I have learned over the past several months...EVERYONE has a #1 QB on their list, which tells me the Browns have a #1 QB on THEIR list...which tells me there is no way the #1 pick in the draft isn't a QB. It doesn't get us any closer to what that name is...but, if everyone is right about their "obvious" #1 guy at the QB spot coming out...then there should be 5 new franchise QBs in the NFL within the next 2-3 years (given time to acclimate).

I have to admit, I don't care too much about the other 4...But there are guys out there that are just dead set that Josh Rosen is the #obvious choice...then it's how can no one see that Darnold isn't the #obvious choice? Well if you look at absolutely all the information given, I have to have Rudolph as the #obvious best in this class. With that arm talent, you have to look past his situation in Wyoming and see that arm of Allen makes him the #obvious choice...and my personal favorite...How can you not see one of the most prolific QBs in college football history, with all of his success both personally and with the Sooners, as the #obvious choice in Baker Mayfield?

Everywhere you look, everyone has hitched their wagon to "a guy". Most are no longer saying, it's down to (3) names or even (2) names, they are touting their guy as who they should take...And if I'm being honest, most of them Can make an argument for any of these guys..none as good as Mayfield in my personal opinion, but they are worthwhile arguments all the same. I will say, the one name I do not want to hear announced with the Cleveland Browns pick: Josh Rosen...I just do NOT trust that the kid will be anything more than a journeyman QB. Someone will take him, they will force him into situations where he won't shine and within 4 years he will begin his journey of playing for 7 different teams over his career. It's still a much better career than you or I will ever have in the NFL, but not what many are expecting.

I will admit, I do worry about Mayfield and his first teams plateau. I can see him going to a team, sitting his rookie year, going in and playing the next 4 years and making the playoffs 3-4 times, but not making a Super Bowl, at which point, that team either franchises him, or he leaves for a better opportunity to make a Super Bowl. Leaving the drafting team to fend for themselves. The fact he left Texas Tech because he recognized his chances at championships were slim does bother me ever so slightly...but that is my only knock on him actually. His antics don't bother me. Those antics are driven by a fire that too few players possess. I feel like Jarvis Landry might have that fire and I would love to see what those two could develop together. I actually like Tyrod's skillset, but he lacks that fire, which is why teams move on from him....Brett Favre had that fire, maybe moreso than any other QB I have ever watched. He had a lot of flaws, but passion wasn't one of them. Manning had that fire, Brady still does it seems, after all these years. Drew Brees has the fire, but he seems to lose a little something when he has roster issues in given years.

Unfortunately, I saw that fire in Manziel. He couldn't control the fire which led to addiction. If he has that under control, I would love to see someone give him a chance. I still think he can play in this league.
