I like the thought that you put into that SAS, but if I had any critique, it would be that we didn't seem to get enough in this move: Especially throwing in #64...Even without that, it seems Buffalo is getting a helluva deal to move from #12 all the way up into the top 5...I think chart value goes out the window on these mega deals where teams vault up for a QB...
This would be fantastic: http://www.cleveland.com/browns/ind...back_ej_gaines_visiting.html#incart_big-photo Keeping fingers crossed...
@showstopper (in his whiniest voice): "Guuuuuysss.... where are all the free agents u thought you'd get?"
I'm beginning to sense that the lynchpin for the Browns are the Giants sitting there at #2. IF the Browns select a QB at #1 (doesn't matter which one), the Giants jump all over Barkley. IF the Browns select Barkley at #1, the Giants pick either the successor to Manning (I'm guessing Darnold) or Jason Pierre-Paul's replacement (Chubb). The Jets are going QB no matter what happens at #1 or #2. IF the Browns pick Barkley at #1, then the Jets have their choice of definately Rosen, Mayfield, or Allen with a 50% chance that Darnold is still there. IF the Giants go with Chubb, the Jets get their choice of any of the top 4 QB's in the draft. I don't have a clue which of the top 4 QB's the Jets would select. In my mind, it doesn't matter as all four of them, for various reasons, are pretty close. Lets assume they pick the one who is the closest to being a starter in week 1 (Darnold, if available, or Rosen.) That brings us up to the Brown's pick at #4. IF the Browns go QB at #1, then there's no doubt in my mind that either Barkley or Chubb is gone and there's no sense in going QB again at #4. So now it would come down to either Chubb (if available), Fitzpatrick or [insert name here]. Taking into account the DB moves by Dorsey in free agency so far, I think we can safely rule out Fitzpatrick. IF, however, the Browns take Barkley at #1, then one or two of the top three QB's are gone depending on the Giants. That would leave a 66% chance that Darnold is gone, a 50% chance that Rosen is gone and remote chance that Mayfield and Allen are gone. And that's why I would go with Barkley at #1. I don't care that he's a RB and RB's just are not selected at #1 overall anymore.
How sure are we that the Giants would take Barkley? They seem to be enamored with Sam Darnold and are in need of a future signal caller for the team. They haven't drafted this high since they took Philip Rivers and traded him to San Diego for Eli. Take Bradley Chubb at #1 overall. The Giants take their preferred QB, likely Darnold. The Jets take their preferred QB, either Rosen or Mayfield. The Browns - now sitting at #4 - have the choice between Rosen/Mayfield, Allen, or Barkley. The problem here is it presumes Rosen, Mayfield, and Allen (and even Darnold) would carry the same grade by John Dorsey - who's preferences are winning, accuracy, leadership, and mental acuity. Now, I'm sorry... but there's no way those 3-4 guys all grade out equally based on the criteria. Two aren't winners. Two aren't accurate. Two - maybe three- aren't leaders and while I don't know their mental acuity, only Mayfield and Rosen have been lauded for their understanding of concepts and football.
Just going by what the civilized world (minus @SAS) is going by. For the record, if somebody put a gun to my head and said, "pick a QB at #1 or else", I would probably pick Mayfield.
I'm not a prophet, but I am reasonably sure they would pick a running back, the likes of which this league hasn't seen in a long, long time, and that they haven't had in an even longer time and reap the benefits now rather than a QB who will be staring at Eli Manning's backside for a couple of years.
I'm not one of those people, but there are folks who believe Saquon isn't the same caliber prospect that Ezekiel Elliott was and that was just two drafts ago. And as far as staring at Manning's backside for a couple of years... not sure it's that long. He was benched this past season for Geno Smith, after all. Eli's 37 and has regressed each of the past three seasons. In fact, his 80.4 QB rating in 2017 was the lowest since 2007 when he led the league in interceptions. Eli should be looked at in NYG at a bridge - especially since all the folks responsible for bringing him into the organization are long gone (minus the owner, obviously).
I agree a total let down...btw different DC in Buffalo than here...this guy would make it hard on Primetime w 7-8 man boxes and blitzing a ton..my guess if Gaines starts he will be in the same mold as McCourty
ng Pro Day Wyoming QB Josh Allen reportedly "dazzled" at the Cougars' Pro Day on Friday, and afterwards NFL Network's Mike Mayock suggested Allen is more naturally gifted than Eagles QB Carson Wentz. Allen has drawn some Wentz comparisons in the scouting community. Both are big, athletic, strong-armed passers, and Allen played for the same coach Wentz did at North Dakota State. "From a physical talent perspective, this kid is a better athlete with more arm talent (than Wentz)," Mayock observed. The Cleveland Plain Dealer says Allen "alleviated concerns about his 56.2 completion percentage at Wyoming and kept himself firmly in the conversation for the Browns' No. 1 overall pick." The Browns sent a full contingency of owner Jimmy Haslam, GM John Dorsey, coach Hue Jackson, assistant GM Eliot Wolf, and OC Ken Zampese to watch Allen
Nobody. Excellent QB prospect...Highly questionable headwear decisions. Not a fan of that.... at the end of the day, I can live with it as long as he backs it up with outstanding play...
IDK...I'm still intrigued, but how do you project if a guy will get better at decision making under pressure? And If Mike Mayock would have said "the ball just explodes out of his hand", one more time, I was gonna lose it...
