Not directed at anything specific here, just in general, why do people expect coaches/GMs/Scouts/Owners to accurately tip their hand at any time at all? All the time in various places I see people expecting to be given real information on what they're (GM) is thinking without even hesitating to think of the ramifications of said information being made public.

Reality in 2017: Sashi Brown effectively used the media narrative to keep people guessing on Browns' true intentions. Media in 2018: "Jimmy Haslam met with Sam Darnold's parents. He's going to be the Browns' pick at #1." Reality in 2018: John Dorsey effectively using the media narrative to keep people guessing on Browns' true intentions.
Case in friggin' point, Adam Schefter literally the day of the Pro Day (and after seeing the images) suggesting that the Giants and Browns could change draft picks at the top because the Giants "really, really" like Sam Darnold.

There were *literally* people in both the National and local media suggesting on the eve of the Draft that the Browns would take Mitch Trubisky and people were losing their minds that it may be true (and they'd be passing on Garrett). I was right about Garrett, too, for the record.
