The Ditch part deux

A few years ago I sold my massive sports card and memorabilia collection. One of the few things I kept was a magazine photo of a young Bobby Orr from the 1960's signed and authenticated. Now I'm a Flyers fan, but I recognize greatness. I just couldn't sell it. I've seen video of Orr's goals and heard all the stories and seen all the awards. He was a rare and generational talent. No way I could sell his photo. He hangs on my wall with Gordie Howe, Rocket Richard, Wayne Gretzky and Ted Williams among other sports items I saved. The collection now is more photos and magazine covers from the 60's and 70's that can hang in my office. The rest is all gone and sold off, but Robert Gordon Orr was saved for the wall.

I'm trying to remember a poorer outing from a goaltender than Darling has displayed tonight for the Canes vs the Oil. The guy is flopping all over the place. 4-3 Oil, 2nd.

Did you happen to see the FL-OTT game last night? Not a great showing for the home goalies. Reimer got shafted with a crazy goal - ricocheted off the backboards, fell down behind him in the slim space between him and the net. I mean, it counts.

Panthers within 1 of New Jersey. Showdown with Columbus on Thursday. A couple games in hand on each of the other race contestants. At this point, Florida controls its own fate. These next two weeks are going to insanely tense. Wish we didn't have to see Boston so much in such a short, crucial period of time. Those aren't going to be easy, even if they're wins.

Saw a guy sporting a Hawks sweater at last Friday's Avs-Predators tilt. I commented that this year he was getting an introduction to what being a Sabres fan is like.

He agreed with me, and then proceeded to provide several reasons for why being a Sabres fan sucks worserest.

I had to agree with him since everything he said made absolute sense. That, plus he did this new asshole-ripping with typical Midwestern politeness. I miss the oracle of hockey too.

 

Hawks minus Hossa and Panarin, plus the dropoff in Seabrook, and even kane to some extent, did them in. A couple of good moves could bring them back to the playoffs.

Bruins clinch spot in the Playoffs, but you knew that.

 

HawKs have 3 Cups in 6 years. I don't feel sorry for them at all or ever. Their fanbase should be happy to win 1 Cup in 6 years let alone 3.

 

Panthers play Columbus tonight. Ooh, boy. Crack one open, kids. This should be good.

 

Weed bill passes senate in Canada on an emergency vote. Just a few minor hurdles now. Looks like it will likely be a done deal to be legal for summer.

 

Gologoski of the Coyotes with a dump in... puck get stuck in Cam Wards skate behind the net, only he doesn't know it. He calmly skates around to the crease and sticks his right foot in over the red line and the ref calls, good goal.

I never saw anything like that before.

 

Will I need to see this.

 

Soon as its available, i'll post it. It was odd. Apparently the Ref knew it was there, but didn't blow the whistle till Ward stepped into his own goal, lol.
