Most mock drafts have Darnold going #1, hardly any feel Mayfield is the #1 pick and Lamar Jackson has been asked to take reps at WR
Yes, you cant have a passionate QB grabbing his crotch in front of a camera. You have to protect the sanctity of the eye gauging and arm twisting in pile ups, the intentional head hunting, and cheap shots that the NFL is known for. The guy drove 30 minutes OUT OF HIS WAY to pick up one of his receivers who said of him (paraphrasing). "He didn't have to come get me, I didn't ask him to. Human beings just aren't that good". Put on your big boy pants if you cant handle a grown up using grown up language, SS. Your takes are just getting worse and worse. You may want to be tested for dementia or Alzheimer's.
John Dorsey's personal criteria for a franchise quarterback: Winner ("gotta win - number 1") Physical skills necessary to play the position Accuracy is very important Have the mindset of a head coach Comprehend and digest the playbook Deep ball accuracy Footwork Ability to extend the play A leader of men Loves a challenge (also, "how does he respond to adversity") More flavor, as a non GM, Dorsey said: Mayfield was the best/most exciting QB in his class Personally attended Baker Mayfield game(s) He would "stay away" from Josh Rosen, were he a GM Did not spend much time on Josh Allen QB's drafted during John Dorsey's tenure as a GM/scout: Craig Nall Aaron Rodgers - first round selection Ingle Martin Brian Brohm Matt Flynn Aaron Murray Kevin Hogan Patrick Mahomes - first round selection *Bold denotes his selections as Chief's GM. Couple of things to note... height of drafted QBs: 6'3", 6'2", 6'2", 6'3", 6'2", 6'1", 6'3", and 6'2". Age of QBs when drafted: 23, 21, 24, 22, 23, 23, 23, and 21 (mostly complying with Parcells' rule). Of the entire list, only Mahomes was noted for his arm strength (threw a 55 at the Combine compared to 60 for Mayfield). With the exception of Aaron Rodgers, every guy was at least a three-year starter (Parcells' rule). Most were seniors - or fourth year juniors (another Parcells' rule). Career accuracy of guys he personally drafted: 62.3, 65.9, 63.5. TD:INT ratio of guys he personally drafted: 3:1, 2.6:1, 3.2:1 QB efficiency of guys he personally drafted: 158.6, 154.6, 152.0 So... Josh Allen is 6'5" and 237. He's a career 56.2 completion guy. His QB efficiency is 137.7. He'll be 21 when drafted. He was a two year starter. His career winning percentage is 16-11 (0.593) and 16-9 in games he started (0.640). His footwork is awful, he's had two signature wins out of 27 career games (30-28 upset over #13 Boise State in 2016, and 37-14 win over Central Michigan in his lone bowl appearance). Contrast that to Mayfield, who's 6'0" and 215. He's a career 68.5 (third highest, NCAA history) completion guy. His QB efficiency is 175.4 (second highest, NCAA history - twice broke the single-season record). He'l be 23 when drafted. He was a four year starter, fifth year senior. His career winning percentage is 39-9 (0.813). His footwork is either best, or second-best (depends if you're talking about ability inside and outside pocket) in the class. He's had multliple signature wins, took his team to the CFB Playoffs and narrowly won, and has - in Dorsey's own words - overcame adversity left an right his entire career. Tell me again why Allen makes more sense.
Most posters ignore you, hardly any feel you contribute in a real and meaningful way, and most have asked you to take reps as a different fan-base's problem.
Just to be clear... your favorite QB (Jameis Winston) *RAPED* a girl, was caught stealing crab legs from a grocery store, was cited for destruction of property with a firearm, was caught with a firearm on campus, was reprimanded and given "internal discipline" by FSU for screaming "GRAB HER BY THE P*SSY" in a crowded lunch room. But yeah... that crotch grab against Kansas sure was despicable. EDIT: It was "F**K HER IN THE P**SY" that Winston screamed... my mistake. I was thinking of another turd-bucket the first time around.
1. Elite Arm Talent 2. Pro System - protection calls, line checks, etc. 3. Above Average Athleticism 4. Elite Toughness 5. Elite Playmaking Ability Outside of the Pocket 6. Accuracy Very Underrated - misses in the gamess I've watched were mostly related to poor footwork. Dozens of INCs simply trying to avoid a sack. 7. Keeps Eyes Downfield Under Pressure 8. Elite Pocket Awareness There have been a lot of Ben Roethlisberger comparisons over the years but Josh is the most accurate comparison I have seen. When his feet are set and his mechanics are good he displays very good accuracy. Like Ben, when they are not his ball will float. The Boise State game displays just about everything you need to see from Josh Allen. Very, very competitive guy who will lay his body on the line. If you look at the stat sheet you say to yourself Allen had a terrible game. That's very far from the truth. He was playing with one arm tied behind his back (o-line blows), his receivers are god awful and he kept them in the game through three quarters with toughness and playmaking ability (beat them in 2016 for the first time in 11 attempts). Put this kid in a run-first offense his first couple of years with playmakers on the outside and a halfway competent o-line and he will be a damn good NFL quarterback because he displays above average accuracy when he's in rhythm and he's able to step into the pocket. And he can make every throw, sideline to sideline. I think if you put his film on with a preconceived notion you can pick it apart and rip him to shreds. If you go into open-minded and look at what he's playing with (for the love of God that team has no playmakers) I think you can get a pretty good appreciation for what he brings to the table. Wouldn't surprise me one bit to see him in a Browns uniform next year and the time he will spend learning the Pro Game and working on mechanics will be invaluable.
To add to what beach just wrote, the Sooners play in a weak conference and Mayfield is nowhere near what you think he is.
I dont give a crap if he says FU a hundred times, but be a role model for the younger generation... also if it wasnt that big of a deal why was he suspended?
Wow Mayfield was eliminated after your first bullet point...0-2 in playoffs...now I can stop reading that post...thx SAS
I dont think its funny...I think its funny you accuse him of being guilty when he was found not guilty
