1. What's a pendejo? 2. I like the approach of grooming 1 QB. T.T. Focus that. Smart. 3. "Dear baby Jesus , bring us the Mayfield..."
That's great... what does that have to do with the point about accuracy? Darnold's career completion percentage is 64.9 and his freshman season it was 67.2. Only Baker Mayfield is overall more accurate than Darnold. If they wanna take Darnold, that's on them. He's the prototype. The fact is, in the NFL, the prototype frequently fails to deliver on Sundays.
Six foot (and under) QBs drafted and given a chance: Russell Wilson, Mike Vick, Drew Brees. All right... find me a guy in there that's been a failure.
You named 3 guys out of 1ks that either dont even make college ball or switch positions....congrats on Brees, Vick(more of an athlete) and Wilson...that % is about .05
No offense stopper, but colleges are just as discriminating based on size in their recruiting process..you, being a coach at a prestigious high school program should know that better than any of us peons.. It isn't necessarily based on effort or skill level, but on physical characteristics. Baker Mayfield is a PERFECT example of this...He wasn't recruited to any big schools, so instead of fading into mediocrity, like...how did you put it? 1ks (or thousands) of other like size challenged athletes do...he did something about it...He enrolled in a program, told them "LOOK AT ME AND JUST GIVE ME A CHANCE" and then, after winning the starting position that same off season, turned around and did it again the following year at an even bigger program....and succeeded in getting them to "just take a look as well"...winning THEIR starter position the first year of his eligibility...although, by that time, I don't think it took as much convincing to the Oklahoma staff, since he had already proven he was meant to be in a Div.1 program. It isn't about having thousands of QBs available to turn down by the NFL in Div. 1 programs...they numbers are much lower by that point in the process. They are weeded out in the college process.
Hey, I'm not the only one that thinks grip on the football can be effected by a 1/4 of an inch of gap from the end of the pinky to the end of the thumb...At SOME POINT it has to be taken into account..I also didn't figure out that breaking point, someone who actually cared enough did and they came up with the answer of 9 1/8 inches being the least amount from edge to edge to not have an adverse effect. I'm not saying that other factors can't also have an adverse effect, but until they start doing a test to show me a prospects hand strength, I will use the fact that a guy has a grep less than 9 1/8 from end of pinky to end of thumb as a check on the negative side of his board. I didn't just decide that 9 1/8 was the least amount he should have, someone else did and everyone else that does think it matters, follows that as a rule of thumb. As far as release time and other measurable factors..I also take that into account of his overall grade. I will admit, I have not taken much into account in the past as to the conditions of the protection from an offensive line. That to me is an outside factor that each individual has to take into account. If a team has a sub par offensive line, then by golly, that QB should adjust their game accordingly...Don't use it as a crutch or excuse...I'm looking at you Sam Darnold...(who by the way is my 2nd rated QB out of this group )
I agree....they usually tell the recruit before even offering them you will play DB, WR or RB or you can come as an Ath w the intent to play QB but knowing they will switch positions eventually
Wait a minute. You can’t compare QBs by height if you’re sample sizes are radically different. You can probably name 4-5 QBs that fit your 6 feet and under, but can find thousands of 6’4” QBs . The short ones had to be exceptional to even get a chance, The taller ones just have to be able to throw the ball. Right now there are more HOF locks in the league that are 6’4” or taller than there are short QBs in the league. The point is that this stat you showed is total bullshit.
@showstopper Oof. "You've had more people in the NFL say to you that Lamar Jackson has more talent of a top pick than Sam Darnold does?" "Yes."
