In case anyone thought the Broncos weren't going to take a QB at #5...

If John Dorsey wants to make it two running backs in the second round over his draft history:

  3. They got their guy in Keenum according to Elway

  4. Why not take Penny #4 w this stat...any RB can run when the whole in HUGE....cough cough T-Rich....thats why I said Im not a big fan of Barkley at all

For the same reason I'm not taking Saquon Barkley at #4?

  7. Wow come April you will be so disappointed when the Browns select Darnold and Barkley....I can only hope for the best

  8. Run circles around you even more when it comes to football?

It's going to be Darnold and Chubb...

  10. Maybe...Garrett always hurt, but I still think its Barkley

I just think the front office's draft history is telling...No one in that front office has ever drafted a RB in the first round, yet they have drafted RBs in later rounds that have been top RBs in the league. I don't think they believe in "special" when it comes to RB.

On the other hand, they have each drafted first round QBs and lots and lots of defensive linemen...They might take a DB, if they trade down, but I don't think the trade they are looking for comes across the desk and they ultimately take Chubb to give them extra ammo with Garrett and Ogbah.

^^^^^ John Dorsey, on trading the #1 pick: "We're open for business."

    Also John Dorsey: "No."

The targets they have been most linked to are Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield.

To get Mayfield, they need to be ahead of the Broncos. Denver basically sent the entire front office to Oklahoma's pro day.

To get Allen, they need to be ahead of Buffalo. The Bills most likely suitor for a move up into the top 4 would be at #4, with Cleveland.

Right now, I don't believe the Giants are going to move off of #2 so the probability that NYJ ends up with one of the two most rumored options is extremely high.

Let's re-visit this for a moment. In a draft where universally, it's considered there isn't a "safe pick" at QB and every guy grades out differently - Baker cannot be Sam cannot be Josh cannot be Lamar (and in this exercise, we're excluding Josh Allen because he's the worst QB I've seen in a decade or more).

You have the Browns, the Bills, the Jets, and the Broncos all targeting a guy and willing to spend the capital to take him #1 overall. Poll those four front offices and I wonder what the vote split looks like.

If Dorsey loves Mayfield (he does), and his senior adviser loves Mayfield (he does)... take him at #1 and be done with it.
