Stopper you realize that half of those games the team averaged 4.4 ypc and that the running game goes beyond RBI, and the majority of the games there were less than 21 carries and of those game that had 21 or more, a majority was split somewhere between 2 and 6 carriers, and that it "known" that Crowell needs volume to be effective?
Opener vs Pitt 17 carries 33 yds 1.9 ypc, following wk vs Balt 10 carries 37 yds w a long of 17 so he had 9 carries for 20 yds on the others....Hue probably seen enough already
#pigeonchess you blindly make a statement about 7 games, are called on it and reply "well, 2 games". AS A WHOLE, your statement was bunk. Obviously Hue hadn't seen enough after those two games because in the same sample size that you hand picked, he had not seen enough. Hell, one of the games we had 30-40 carries. As for the rest of the season, we had one of the top YPC in the league and Hue would abandon the run in the 2nd qtr of a 2 score game. Just full panic mode for no reason besides setting blatantly setting his rookie up for failure.
Blah, blah blah....you guys are always trying to spin facts.....I said 7 games cause his highest total was 64 yds or something....thats incredibly bad for a lead back.....getting a 20 yd run in the last 2 mins of a game when your down 14 pts will do that to a ypc...if you watch the games you can see why Hue went away from the run...they were either down or couldnt run the ball except vs Det
If stats in garbage time mean anything then we can agree that Emmitt Smith isn't the all-time rushing leader. Not only did he limp over the finish line with the Cards, but he was only racking up yardage because the offense was so explosive besides him, so his yards just don't count. You make a statement about the running game as a whole but only reference RB1 to support your claim. They were giving Matt Dayes and Bryce Treggs carries. This might be tough, so stay with me on this. The Cleveland Browns running game is a much bigger concept than Isiah Crowells running game.
Quit cherry picking. You cant say "stats mean dick" then support your claim with stats and follow it up with "garbage time stats mean dick" but only apply that to one team. It is an analogy by definition. "A point by point comparison of two seemingly unlike things" (i.e. the Browns and the 90's cocaine cowboys). You are the one that made a claim that the whole team is terrible at rushing. You cited "the first seven games" as a data set. THEN, you continue to reference only Crowell, and walked it back to 2 early games, which BTW they were also still breaking in 2-4 new pieces (arguable since Bitonio was coming off injury). Follow along if you can: There are more than just 1 running back on the Browns The Crow needs 22-25 carries per game. He pounds the D and wears on them. The Crow WAS NOT getting those carries (Didn't he have 90 yds rushing in a half then not touch the ball again, or get 1 carry for seemingly no reason) The coach would abandon the run when down by as little as 1 score in the second half.
You don't really think that the "good backs" get 4.5-5.0 yards EVERY TIME they touch the ball, do you? Naivity is not becoming... All backs get there average the same way...They factor in long runs..and well, they factor in the short runs too, and well for good measure they also include the average runs....which then gives you an average. What hurts their game total yards, is well, lack of carries. The Browns were near last in the league for number of carries per game. Doesn't mean the run game wasn't effective, as the yards per carry indicate, in fact, it was. No matter how effective that run game is, the guy calling the plays needs to actually call a run play in order for a run play to be executed.

John Fox named Mike Glennon the starter when Chicago signed him in the offseason as well. It's easy now because #1 isn't on the team and the only other options are Kessler or Hogan - both of whom probably will not be on the team to start the regular season. Now that said, I do believe John Dorsey's goal is to avoid another DeShone Kizer. He saw first-hand how poorly Hue Jackson works with rookies (always has), whereas when given a competent NFL veteran, Hue Jackson has - in previous posts - had a modicum of success. What I thought was interesting is how much Hue Jackson raved (and was rumored to be enamored) with Tyrod. It runs completely counter to his self-proclaimed "wants" in a QB. Tyrod is a slight (6'1" 217 pound), safe thrower with limited downfield arm who predominantly takes what defenses give him and works best on short drops, designed roll-outs, or creating on his own when the play breaks down. He's literally the NFL blueprint for handling Baker Mayfield. In all of his previous comments, Hue has stressed the need for a big arm, prototypical size, *enough* athleticism, and more of a pocket passer. This mold seems to be backed up by his rumored interest in Josh Rosen and previous interested in Jared Goff, when actually up-front about his "preferred" QB choices - and before he had time to change his mind after a few seasons.
