Davis at FS with Mathieu at SS? I’d feel pretty good about that. Still draft a safety early. Don’t think it would, someone will probably over pay
Steelers re-signed RB Fitzgerald Toussaint to a one-year contract. Pittsburgh did not tender Toussaint, who was a restricted free agent, but they get him back on what is certainly a cheaper deal. Toussaint will compete for a backup job in camp. Source: Jeremy Fowler on Twitter I guess this is the big FA RB they are going to sign. LOL
McKinnon got a 4 year 30 million and is now the 4th highest paid RB. 7.5 million to a guy who is on the field a third of the time.
1. William Gay was a good player 2. Steelers still only have about 7 MIL in cap space. I'm sure BeachBum has the real dirt on this. (Insert Lev Bell comments if you like as well) 3. I can dig the Honey Badger. More promising now than his draft day. Don't think the Steelers have enough cheddar though. 4. I can also dig trading Martavis Bryant. I fear he will pout/quit in 2018 . 5. Browns seem to have a need at LT . Lol. Don't think free agency will cure this. They will either shake their draft strategy or leave a hole on the blind side 6. Dissapointed Mike Mitchell didn't work out better. Another caution for Steelers meddling in free agency? Vance McDonald's departure also comes to mind.
Doubtful for one i dont think he would come cheap and 2 where do you put him? Good to see you back Steel

Then add 6 picks in the first 3 draft rounds.... Are the Browns pushing their chips all in? I gotta say, on paper, the Browns look better. Getting Tyrod seems smart to me.
First of all it's great to see you SP. The Steelers have access to cap space. I'm not a fan of restructuring but if it's done to acquire talent it's worth it IMO because several of the guys they are going to ask to restructure are playing on below market deals. And unlike '10-'12 the cap goes up each year. So if they can grab a guy like Mathieu they have the means to do so.
Cleveland has been gathering picks and cap space for some time. Are they going for it? They also got Todd Haley, who will help, in my opinion . Is this Hue Jackson's push? Does he have that juice?
Mathieu is tempting but then I remind myself not to fall for free agent pixie dust. Stick to drafting. If we had tons of cap space, then maybe. Beach is right, they could if they wanted to, but it's unlikely.
And when I say below market deals I'm talking about total / years under contract. The beauty of extending guys with a year under contract is you can cheat the system. Players and agents care about headlines. They know the media and the cap guys look at new money as the headline. So when Antonio Brown signed his extension everyone said AB got 17M per season. He crushed AJ Greens 15M per year and he was on top the WR world. In truth, AB signed a 5yr, 72.7M contract. He was already due 4.7M in 2017 and the Steelers added 4 yrs and 68M to the total deal (17M per in "new" money). The Steelers paid him 14.5M per season, it was sold as 17M per season. Everybody wins. It's why extending guys in their final season is so important and almost no one in the NFL talks about it.
