I think it would be wise to retain Kendall Wright as well. He seemed to build a rapport with Trubisky and they need a veteran to lead that young WR corps.

TBH, i can handle that number. I was worried we were gonna see a line like 4/60/34 or something. They can get a lot of that guaranteed number out the way this year and really insulate themselves CAP wise in the event Robinson doesn't pan out.

And as you guys have said, its a better deal than the Chiefs got for Watkins. And i've just seen the Jags have resigned Marquess Lee for 4 years, $38million!!

Always give credit where its due, think Pace has carved out a good deal there re Robinson.

Burton however seems expensive. Approx 6th-7th highest paid TE in the league next year. Hell of a lot of coin to drop on a guy who really hasn't put much production down.

Bears are expected to sign WR Taylor Gabriel.

    So there's your slot receiver.

    Packers are signing Jimmy Graham.

Packers are also releasing Jordy Nelson.

I hope they don't pay him in the region of Albert Wilson money. Gabriel is fast as fuck, but he's never put it all together for an even good season overall. He'll take a short cross to the house for 60yards then you 'll never hear from him again.

That said....... it's hard to look at the personnel Pace is adding to this Offense and not get excited. Cos if its executed right there are potential mismatches opening up all over the field. Howard's days of 8 man fronts are numbered.

Its all contingent on it being a well schemed O of course, but this is where Nagy and Helfich come in. They're supposed to be these creative whizzkids, well Pace is giving them weapons.

Slot receiver and probably punt and kick returner.

If Robinson and Meredith can get back to form and remain healthy we may have something.

I like that Pace is adding younger weapons that have experience but still have a lot of tread on the tires. Not sure what Gabriel's $ is but it's being reported as 4 years.

    The potential is certainly there.

My concern is if its a choice between a splash play every 4 games or pretty consistent production, i'm leaning towards the latter.

Wright had a rapport with Trubisky as bear-man said. Leading the team with 59catches during a very tough season Offensively, is not half bad. Maybe Gabriel is ready to break out, but it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him finish the season with less than half that number of catches.

I think Gabriel's speed fits the scheme Nagy will run better than Wright can.

I thought Wright played well and was confused when he had snaps taken away by receivers with far less ability.

But with a heavy dose of RPO being installed in the playbook...having someone with Gabriel's breakaway speed can pay off huge.

"Numbers on new Panthers CB Bashaud Breeland: three years, $24 million, with $11 million in guarantees, sources say."

Breeland is inconsistent, but young and talented. That's not a huge amount of money really. I don't like the complete lack of talk re the Bears and FA CB's. Really hope Pace isn't gonna whiff on this position like he's whiffed on it the last 2 free agencies.

Well it was a heavily speed based system in KC, so it certainly looks like Pace and Nagy are in sync and he's trying to get him the players he needs to run his Offense.

Yeah hopefully he remembers we have some holes on the defense to fill.

BTW, have you guys noticed how many 3year deals seem to be happening? WTF? There seem to be way more 3year deals going around than 4-5. No idea why, its weird.

Preparing for a 2021 labor stoppage?

  16. EvertonBears M.V.P. Bears

Does the CBA run out then?

  17. BearsWillWin Drunk (Probably) Patreon Champion Manager Bears Blackhawks Cubs

    It does.

Not sure that's the logic behind the 3 year deals.....but the CBA expires after the 2020/2021 season.

  18. EvertonBears M.V.P. Bears

That could well be the reason.

I don't usually imagine things unless im on good mushrooms, seem to be more 3 year deals than normal.

What could go wrong??? Remember this guy was stalking and had a gut feeling about noodleneck and... go have a pint or two hundred.

What bothers me about the Robinson deal How effective will they (Cam) be both a year or less from the injury. I read an article on research by Vanderbilt circa 2006 that expect a 33% decline in performance of RB and WR in the first three years after the injury. Granted this was written 12 years ago and perhaps the procedures have improved with better results now, however I found a more recent article 2017 that stated the same thing 33%.
We know Urlacher wasn't the same the year after, but outside of AD as an example (because he is a freak) can anyone offer an example of someone that came back to near normal?

Very valid concern tuna. When you consider that Robinson, Meredith and White are all coming off serious season ending injuries there's no escaping the fact things could go wrong very quickly with a bit of bad luck here and there.

As for Peterson, the were rumours of him getting mystery treatment in Europe at the time. Im convinced the reason he rebounded so amazingly well was HGH-linked treatment during rehab. That recovery was unnatural. Of course, NFL network chose to portray him as some kind of superman, no doubt cos it was far more marketable and ethically cleaner(he was one of the league biggest stars at the time). But i believe HGH or something similar played a part.
