Nope, I went to the University of Tennessee (Don't get me started on how underrated Kamara was lol).

    lol

The reason I asked is a friend of mine is a graduate of Texas Tech. He's always going on about "You want to see the future of offense in the NFL just watch a Tech game.".

He spent a lot of time talking about Grant, and I think you might be the first person that has brought him up in conversation since that draft class.

While the Tech offense is productive and fun to watch, I think it's limited because of the bind it puts its own team's defense in.

    Haha I'd believe it.

With Maholmes I had trouble sometimes "scouting" him because I found myself enjoying watching him so much. I don't think I have ever consistently enjoyed tape that much. There is a O-lineman or two this year I have had a good time watching though...

I 100% understand that. I had that issue with him, Corey Davis, Kamara, and Barkley too.

The beauty with O-line is that if you really enjoy watching them then you can see that he is really doing his job. Its not the same as just seeing a big plug set an edge using just his fat ass and getting the stops. You see him actively do it. In the last few years the guy I've seen entrance me was Jack Conklin. Tennessee must have seen it too when they traded back up after trading down for the ransom at #1.

Conklin definitely had good tape. I like to look for a lineman that plays with some nasty. A pure technician can get the job done but when you see a guy that knows how to use his hands AND uses that to throw a guy in the dirt... that will catch my eye in a totally different way. Size fails in the NFL all the time. But technique and nasty? Nope that works.

It's always a beauty when technique and nasty work together. Sometimes they work together so well that a lazy scout looking at tape may focus on only one and think they don't see enough, but in reality they have a bit of both or their strength in one aspect makes their strength in the other tough to notice at a quick glance.

Having such a difficult time not calling the dancing elephants by name right now...

As opposed to the literal elephant (some shade of red shockingly edible(?!) laundry detergent team) that can't move at all.

I love what the Real Bills are doing right now.
they have enough with 12 & 22 to get to #4. They got their sights set on #2 and #3 IMO.

If I'm the Giants GM I'd be on the phone with Buffalo right now. #2 for #12, #22, #53 & #65 is enough for #2.

That is without a premium. It would likely need a 2019 2nd as well, with a later round pick coming back in return.

If they believe Eli has a few more yrs left I would make a deal.
then grab the top LT at #12, at #22 Billy Price, Ohio State or James Daniels, Iowa, & #34 Sony Michel

One rule change for next year I hope you consider is: If someone misses their pick in the draft, he gets skipped. Period. IRL, if a team doesn't get their card turned in time, they get skipped. They don't use a committee of GM's or League administrators to turn in a card for them.

Its not like everyone is working in a vacumn. Pick slots are clearly defined at the start of the draft.

We go by discretion, early on teams just don't miss picks and not by more than 1 pick IRL. In the later rounds though we almost never autopick and just skip them if they are normally active. Early on it doesn't really work. We really only autopick teams that are AWOL. If a team has been inactive, not checked-in in a while and missed a pick OR misses B2B picks without checking back in then we will auto without waiting for them to return, because they rarely do anytime soon if at all.

Thanks for the post. As you can see it's an annoying thing when teams are inactive.

Its way more than annoying. When I signed up for this, I knew up front that I had to make a time commitment to it as I'm sure most everyone has. It just isn't fair to those of us that have spent the time to not only keep up with each element of the exercise but (especially if you have a team you don't normally follow) to ascertain a teams needs and react accordingly only to sit around cooling your heels when someone doesn't show up to make their pick.

I agree. And those teams will be replaced. We are always searching for active dedicated GMs that take this seriously. It isn't just a commitment for them but everyone else involved as well. I believe we have 2 such teams this year.

The problem with skipping a team (early picks) is this whole exercise would lose its realism which is why we’re all doing it to begin with.

Its even more applicable for the early picks. If a guy can't even show up for a 1st or 2nd round pick . . . That tells me he hasn't put in the time to research what his team needs or who is available. Then, a consortium of sorts steps in and makes a pick for him? Doesn't happen in real life, shouldn't happen here.

Ya Rico. I see both of your points. That's why it's done by our discretion and when it is in the draft. Years of trial and error with rules have shown that is the best method.

The best rule we ever had in our "Official Mock" was saying stuff was by discretion sometimes. Good thing because once that was added the complaints almost disappeared for some stuff, but before that we always had complaints about one thing or another lol.
