Honestly, I'd rather get Barkley and Mayfield.....I know there are no guarantees, but if we do that deal, it'll guarantee we won't.
^^^^^ #1 (CLE): Baker Mayfield #2 (NYG): Josh Rosen #3 (IND): Bradley Chubb TRADE - #4 (BUF): Sam Darnold (CLE gets #12, #53, #65) #12 - Denzel Ward TRADE - #29 (CLE): Marcus Davenport (JAX gets #53, #65 - house money) Browns still would have #33, #35, #64, #114, #150, #159, #175, and #219.
That's fair. A lot is going to boil down to Dorsey's grades on (1) the quarterbacks, and (2) Saquon Barkley. Still very adamantly believe that Barkley is *not* in play at #1, so he'd need to be available at #4. Dorsey's never taken one early, never been with an organization that prioritized the position, and his left-hand man (Scot McCloughan) is on record as preferring Derrius Guice to Saquon.
^^^^^ And whatever transpires in free agency. Quiet tampering period thus far. Browns have been constantly linked to cornerbacks and pass rushers, so it stands to reason if we don't address those in free agency, we're probably going to dip into the positions during the draft.
HA... Man I'm slow today... I wouldn't complain... I'd like to see #4 + (edit)#114 +#150 #12 + #22 Depending on your board... #12 - Marcus Davenport / Vita Vea / Calvin Ridley / Denzel Ward #22 - MIKE MCGLINCHEY, OT / KOLTON MILLER, OT / Derrius Guice You still have all three seconds and make 6 selections by #65 - Tyrod Taylor
Seems you guys were on it quickly as well. The Bills now likely have enough ammo to trade up to #4 with only their 1st round picks and not anything else if they and the Browns are interested.
If they are calling, they are calling to get a QB, premium position, premium trade... Give us this instead: #4 = 1,800 #12 + #22 = 1,980 They would be giving up essentially a mid 3rd rounder for the premium. They would need more than that to get to 3rd overall...so... #1 Baker Mayfield QB #12 Denzel Ward CB #22 Derrius Guice RB #33 Leighton Vander Esch LB #35 Sam Hubbard Edge #64 Orlando Brown OT
Duke Johnson Jr. + a mid-round rookie. Browns are smartly trying to lock Johnson in to an extension before a UDFA season. Johnson fits what Haley liked to do with Bell in Pittsburgh. Now... he's unproven as a feature back and is still little, so there has to be something behind him. He was, however, one of the first guys singled out by Dorsey when he made the infamous "real football player" comment. The draft is so deep - and in going through the exercise seeing when and where Dorsey picked RBs, his teams double-dipped a lot in the same draft year - I can see one pick in the R3 range and another in the R5-R7 range. Rashaad Penny (5'11" 220) is a scout-favorite and should be available R2-R3. Three-down back potential. Bo Scarbrough (6'1" 232) is a big-back who falls probably somewhere in R4. He's the opposite of Johnson since he's huge and never catches passes. Darrel Wiliams (6'1" 229) is a late round guy who has NFL size and stepped into Guice's backup role very well. Catches, blocks, and handles short-yardage like a pro. Friendly reminder that Dorsey loves those speed/size guys who test well explosively... (Bo Scarbrough - vertical and broad jumps are going to do wonders for his chances)
I wouldn't be shocked if the Bills aim for #2 overall. This is shaping up like the Carson Wentz trade up.

I’m assuming that we took the cap hit for Landry’s franchise tag. 1 do we get cap space back with a new deal? 2 if he plays under the tag, dies it in effect use our franchise tag? Not that we were going to use it, just wondering
Hopefully we can work out a 3 or 4 year extension...Landry plays the game HARD! I think he'll be a star in Cleveland....I'm not the contract expert by any means, but I think since he was just tagged by Miami, we assume it all...
It's guaranteed base salary so you take the hit. An extension before the extension deadline is a special rule that nulls the franchise tag contract. It's not your tag. The tag deadline has long passed anyways.
I'll be honest, I didn't expect Robinson to get $14M per year. Coming off an injury and only having one big year in the league...but I still wanted him. I see Terrelle Pryor as our WR addition now.
