I figured it would be cap related somehow. I’d much rather pay Hundley to stick around

 

I think the Packers just genuinely liked Kizer when he came out last year.

 

I think they still see him as a project they can fix and build up. Whereas they have seen what Hundley can do.

 

I agree 100% with this. They saw what development Hundley did in his starts last year, and they are ready to move on. He only has one year left on his rookie deal, Kizer has 3..simple as that.

Being as it’s a bit of a slow day I have a question for my fellow draftniks, especially @xinik

For the sake of conversation let’s pretend the only two Quarterbacks worth first round consideration are Josh Rosen and Jared Goff, and based solely off college tape. You need a Quarterback. Which one? And why?

 

Goff all day. But I still like Rosen. Why? I leave that alone for now. I'll try to come back to it later.

 

I'm biased but Goff. But I do like Rosen a lot. I've not watched much Mayfield yet, but I have Rosen head and shoulders above the other guys. Assuming he's not the asshole that the media is trying to portray him as to make a story, he seems like a fairly safe pro prospect.

Btw, stupid question - what time is it in the USA now? Did your time change? I worry I'm gonna be an hour early or an hour late for my draft pick!

P.S USA isn't China. They don't dumbly use 1 time zone for a big area.

 

I know you said based off college tape, but it's impossible for me to block out what Goff did this past season...He impressed the hell out of me, and it seemed to come out of nowhere. I think the coaching change in LA was obviously huge for him....I admit I wasn't sold on Goff coming out of college. At least, not as sold as I was on Wentz, that's for sure. Goff certainly showed why he he was so highly touted, though I was about ready to chalk him up as a bust, along with everyone else, after his dreadful rookie season...He absolutely stepped up. His college tape had me thinking he wasn't worthy of being selected in front of Wentz, FWIW..

Rosen just looks like the classic drop back, stand in the pocket, NFL QB.... I'm a little concerned about his injury history, but he looks good throwing the football. It's hard for me to understand why he didn't have more production, but I know there are many variables that go into that...

You ask a tough question RT...

My gut says, Rosen will have the better NFL career, but I got nothing concrete to base that on.....

 

On just college tape I'd take Rosen, but it would be pretty close. Like TopDawg, I'll admit I wasn't sold on Goff coming out of college either.

 

I liked Goff out of College. When the Eagles traded up I wanted Wentz all day but I would have been excited if it was Goff.

 

You've probably seen your fair share of Kevin Kolb, and I think he makes a decent comp for Josh.

My score for Goff was better than my current score for Rosen.

I think my final comp for Jared was Josh McCown, but I think I remember having Majkowski in there at one point.

 

Considering how your comparisons work, Kevin Kolb is a good one.

 

If I am being completely honest I only bothered to start looking at QB's in earnest last year. It just wasn't a position that the Giants were going to take seriously before that so I never really looked at QB's before the draft. I REALLY like Rosen though. To me he was head and shoulders the best QB in this class -- and I know a lot of people will disagree with that assessment. If his medicals check out and the team likes him in interviews it would be a very easy decision for me. Last year my guy was Maholmes and I was hoping and praying he somehow managed to slip to the Giants.

That said this process is all pretty new to me so I have a lot to learn when it comes to how my evals of college tape convert to pro success. I also watch prospects through a very jaded lens. There are guys who are probably fantastic players that just won't fit with the Giants so I don't pay a ton of attention to them.

 

I love me some Mahomes as well.

 

Agreed.

My pre-draft score for Mahomes is one of the highest I've had a player total since 2012.

 

I still go back and watch his 2015 game against Oklahoma St. sometimes. There was no defense, but man it was fun to watch. He and Jakeem Grant were awesome (I love Grant too, sadly he's probably too small to shoulder a heavy workload in the NFL).
