First trade I can't honestly agree with: Browns trading Danny Shelton to the Patriots for a conditional draft pick
Yes I was. And I don't think Shelton was a reason for them going 0-16. They have a big hole to fill now. The opposite of what they did yesterday.
Again, trading Shelton and a current 5th round for a future 3rd?? Seems like we lost this one. Sashi was apparently better at dealing with the Patriots.
Former first round pick coming off injury and a bad QB situation with limited stats and tape to go off of would probably fetch anywhere from a late third to a 5th.
This one didn't surprise me that much. Danny Shelton has been a disappointment. He's supposed to be a run stuffer, and we are terrible at that. When Dorsey took the job he called out the previous regimes for not getting good football players. DS is obviously a prime example. The only surprise IMO is that we don't get this year's 3rd from the Pats. So that's a little disappointing, but I don't see a huge hole left behind. It was already there as a problem area to begin with.....Maybe we should be looking closer at Payne, Vea, Hurst etc...
You're right. More like what someone said earlier, as in he can be very inconsistent. Either way, I like the move and he will probably do better in Haley's system.
We were #7 against the run last year. I'll admit he is more suited to a 3-4 defense, but he certainly wasn't a liability. I'm not necessarily disappointed that he was traded as much as the compensation, I guess.
I think the serious stinker he put out in last year's playoffs is standing out in the minds of many. No excuses, it was ugly. But the fact that it was a playoff game is all I can see...I think the move makes sense for both teams, and IMO this is a much smarter way to go for Cleveland, than to pay AJ McCarron $45m. It's as simple as that... Obviously I do not believe AJM is still in the plans, though I see that there are some that think he is...We'll see. To me, that wouldn't make sense at all, but it just goes to show ya how differently people can analyze the same situation...Hell that's why I love this site. It gives intellect on other perspectives. (usually )
I don't think Shelton is terrible. I just expected more from #12 overall I guess... Though that stat does surprise me...I knew we started out pretty strong against the run, but I thought it was leaky at times throughout the season... I admit, maybe 0-16 has blinded me...Perhaps we weren't as bad as I was thinking vs the run.
They are veterans...You've seen them play and you have seen the players on this roster play. You are comparing them to what we currently have...Skating around the question. https://gph.is/2lD8ygV
