I think he was just voicing his opinion. I believe he was working to move up for a player and some of those he was talking with moved on without him, as he might not have been available immediately to "sweeten" a deal...not sure. In the end, he made a trade and most likely ended up with his guy anyway..I think we are all good now.

Besides, SportsFanatic hasn't been on for a while, so we might be waiting until Monday for the next pick...

 

He and I had talked about a trade a while back. So after the Browns made their pick I reached out to see if he was still interested. I think he just figured he had more time to explore options then I gave him so I understand why he may be upset. Some of us are operating with an understanding of how things worked in the past but not everyone.

In any case I think taking Rosen was the right move for the Giants. I imagine he has to be pretty happy with trading less than I was asking and still getting Darnold who is QB1 on a lot of boards. So I think it’s more just a lack of clarity on how this would work than a particular gripe — but I could be wrong on that.

Yeah, well, MY source is the man himself. Sashi Brown has publicly spoken that it was a last minute deal and they simply couldn't get it all done, thus missing the 4:00 pm deadline..Unless, Mike Brown was secretly paying Sashi at the time, it was the Browns, specifically Sashi...not Cincinnati...But then again, you obviously have a source closer to the situation than Sashi Brown himself, so please, do tell.

As I've said from the beginning, what's done is done. I'm just a stickler for rules, the rules were not followed, and I just wanted someone to admit that.

Specifically, the rules state that "The GMO draft will start on Monday, March 12th," and that Cleveland's clock starts at 8:00, which any reasonable person would interpret to mean that Cleveland becomes eligible to use the #1 pick at 8:00 next Monday. Which would mean that everyone would have the weekend to negotiate trades. Instead, yesterday I literally found out via PM from Cleveland that picks 1-3 had already been made (after I messaged him about #4 and he replied that he was about to use the pick).

As I'm sure everyone is aware, the pace of negotiating with someone that has the power to make their pick at any moment is totally different than negotiating during the preparation period. I'm not sure if I would have ultimately accepted Xinik's proposal, but for sure I would have responded much more quickly and perhaps not waited for updates from the other teams I was talking with. If I had accepted the deal, I would have taken Mayfield, and the entire draft would be different.

In any case, the mods already apologized, so I consider the matter resolved. Just change the written rules or actually follow them next year, please.

After we wrap this up, you are more than welcome to help us rewrite any of the openings to the individual threads to further clarify rules, make rule change suggestions and discuss any other suggestion that you think may improve this exercise for everyone.

Hey matthewwilson, no I have no idea who your family's friends are, I'm not a stalker in any sense of the word....

What I do know is that Sashi Brown himself PUBLICLY discussed the gaff and explained EXACTLY what happened..not my family close friend at a bar telling a story via hearsay...

 

I have told you but it was a couple years ago now so I didn't want to assume you just forgot instead of a straight up bragging sound. But when the owner says it wasn't his organization, I take him at his word.

I hate to beat a dead horse but you spoke to Xinik yesterday at 3:02pm. Literally two minutes (3:04pm) later he replied to you and said he may pick right away. That was your opportunity to make your case for a trade and at that point the Browns had already selected and the Browns GM (also a Mod) had already informed everyone teams could pick throughout the weekend.

You bitched the Mods didn't give you a heads up when a Mod did that very thing in the very thread you were in. Maybe you didn't read it but that's not on the Mods, Xinik or anyone else. You were in a conversation with the Giants GM BEFORE he made his selection.
