OK, Stopper, I know I'm asking for it, but give us your totatally biased, unbiased opinion, did the Browns get better as a team yesterday?

    :mic:

Has Jarvis Landry made any public comment since news of the deal broke? Or Tyrod Taylor?

I hope they are both fired up about coming to a team that's on the threshold of an epic turnaround....

Potential skill position offensive depth chart:

    QB- Tyrod Taylor, Baker Mayfield

    RB- Saquon Barkley, Duke Johnson

    WR1- Josh Gordon, Terrelle Pryor

    WR2- Corey Coleman,

    SLWR- Jarvis Landry, Christian Kirk

    TE- David Njoku, Seth DeValve

If Mayfield develop's into an elite NFL QB, as some expect he will, this is a potential powerhouse offensive skill group.....Super Bowl caliber IMO.

    Crazy Crextin’s Mad musings:

So here I am enjoying my morning coffee preparing some musings regarding the Brown activites yesterday… Had this written...

“WR Jarvis Landry for a fourth-round pick (No. 123 overall) and a seventh-round pick in 2019 to Miami.”

Admittedly I was skeptical of this move initially. Knowing that Landry had been tagged I was afraid this involved first and or second round picks. Didn’t have a very warm fuzzy, until the final details were revealed. Instead of spending an extra premium picks we get a seasoned WR to add the Roster for a late 4th round pick.

Now I hope that a 3-4 year deal can be worked out and not be stuck with a $16 million dollar 1-year rental on a possession WR.

“QB Tyrod Taylor for third-round pick (No. 65 overall)”

THANK GOD ITS NOT Mr. Catherine Webb!

We knew that a veteran QB would be added. While Taylor isn’t going to wow anyone at least the Browns now have a veteran solid starter that should give the Browns a better chance to win games, especially the close ones.

“Green Bay Packers were trading CB Damarious Randall for QB DeShone Kizer”

I imagine that half the Browns nation is still recovering from their celebration hangovers this morning. And the other half is still drinking. (I’m guessing SAS will be out of commission for a while.)

Arguably the best move of the day. Dorsey is building the QB room his way.

Adding a solid corner provides needed depth in the secondary. I just hope that his hand and knee injuries don’t’ come back to haunt the Browns. (Even so… Totally worth it)

“It was also reported that Cleveland and Green Bay are swapping the positions of picks in the fourth and fifth rounds. If the swap involves each team’s original picks, then this will be what happens: In the fourth round, that means Cleveland is giving up No. 101 (first pick of the fourth round) in exchange for No. 114 (14th pick of the fourth round). In the fifth round, Cleveland is giving up No. 138 (first pick of the fifth round) in exchange for No. 150 (13th pick of the fifth round).”

    I can live with that.

And the Lyman takes over behind the bar :SEP:

    Really...

You just had to serve this shtuff:yuck:. This early in the day:wall:

Honestly I could handle having a solid veteran backup, and McCarron would fit that bill.

I think mine was Thomas' tweet about Dorsey being on Fire:rally:

Just might have been enough to keep him around for a few more years...:bravo:

  10. Landry trade was an improvement but I didn't see exactly what was given up, Taylor I was never a fan of so that's meh and Randall obviously wasn't going to have his player option picked up so is that telling? I haven't seen enough of him honestly...these are the moves that should b made for mid round picks but I'm not sure why they gave up #65 for a 1 yr QB that Buff was desperate to get rid of for over a yr

What I meant was favorite of Randall's tweets. I agree, I think these 3 moves, move Joe to up for at least his last year of this contract. If they win 7-9 games, he might even stay longer. He is REALLY wanting to feel the playoffs, but only as a Brown, which makes me respect the man even more!!

Once again stopper, you skate the question with answers not relevant.

    It was a simple question...

Did the Browns improve with the three trades that were made. Was there an obvious upgrade to the roster..THAT was the question. Not your non-cognitive analysis of what was given up or anything else.

DID THEY IMPROVE AS A TEAM YESTERDAY?

I would make it easier for you if I could, by adding a "poll type" answer box right here...but that would require starting a new thread...So unfortunately, you will have to write out your answer...I will however make it easier for you to decipher..there are only two answers to the question in front of you

    Yes

    or

    No

    Ravens fan here.

I have to be honest. As an outsider I am excited by the "new look" Browns. I believe the Bengals will be the AFC North last place team this year. The Browns have an excellent shot at a .500 record or better.

IMHO, the Browns should pick Bradley Chubb first, although I' hate to see that. With Chubb and Garrett they could have the most formidable pass rush in AFC, if not in the NFL, within the next 1-2 years. One of the top QB's will be available at #4 and Guice or Nick Chubb should be available in the 2nd rd.

As for Tyrod Taylor, he's a good transition QB who has worked with Hue Jackson when they both were with the Ravens. Yes, he's pretty much a TO machine, but he's also never really had a very good receiver, let alone 3 of them at the same time, during his career in Buffalo. His best receiver while there was TE Charles Clay. He had a lot of ave. to above ave receivers and a few very good ones who couldn't stay healthy, but nothing like Gordon (if he can stay clean), Landry, and Coleman (if he can stay healthy). Add in Duke Johnson and Njoku, and his TO's should decrease. I honestly thought they were going to sign McCarron, and I guess they still could.

Again, I'm an outsider who tries to look at the whole division, not just the Ravens, but I don't have a lot of the insight many of you have. I also believe, as I said last year, That the previous GM had set the Browns up for the long-run and that with the right moves/draft picks this year, the Browns would be a playoff team within 2 years. So far, nothing has changed that perception. Until my beloved Ravens can get themselves out of perennial salary cap hell, and possibly get a new HC and a new OC, I don't think they'll be much better than a .500 team unless Ozzie nails this draft.

    I will tell you this...

Dolphins fans are angry over the trade...You don't see any fans praising this move anywhere...
Bills fans, well, I don't think they care one way or another. I think they feel like they can replace Tyrod in the draft...maybe they can, but my money is that the anger will come 6 months from now when the season is starting and their QB position has been downgraded from Tyrod. I've never been overly high on Tyrod either. Don't take this as high praise. However, I am not blind enough to see he immediately upgrades our QB room, for however long he is here. IF we are helped by the football gods and DO find a future franchise guy in the draft...he won't be ready for 2018. Tyrod will ensure that transition isn't put in jeopardy like Kizer's was last year.
Time will determine the Packers trade. If Kizer does learn and grow into a top starter, this could go down as the worst trade ever...but, even I will admit the day after the trade it looks REALLY GOOD on paper. We upgraded our CB position and as of now Kizer looks like he is years away from being competent, let alone a franchise guy.

I will only like this trade if you get Barkley. Taylor has accuracy and consistency problems downfield. He is a decent guy if you rely on the run game.

  16. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

I'm not sure where you are getting this...as a 3 year starter, he has never had more than 6 INTs in a season...He is the opposite of turnover machine...In 2015, he had 9 fumbles, but only lost 1 of them...the past two years, he cut that to 4 fumbles per season losing 2 in each season...

I LOVE me some Saquon Barkley...however, I don't think the teams future depends on them getting Barkley....I think it depends on them getting on of the following:

    Saquon Barkley
    Sony Michel
    Derrius Guice

Any of those 3 bring with them multiple options from the RB position, they are a Duke Johnson on steroids. They can do what he does, but be an every down back carrying the load.

Nick Chubb, could be another possibility, but I think the other 3 bring more to the table overall.

  18. LAOJoe Assistant Coach Manager Patreon Silver Maple Leafs Eagles

Irish I'm not saying the team's future. I am saying the success of Tyrod moving forward will be depending on a strong run-first game. And at this moment it appears to mean they need Barkley.

  19. I gave an answer...no skating around the question...I addressed all 3 moves in detail....whether I say yes or no doesnt change the fact they still need to play the games....I said they won the Landry trade, lost the Taylor trade cause I dont think hes a good QB and GB would know more than me on Randall since I didnt see him much....I believe he did lock up Gordon late in the game, but they traded him w no intention of picking up his option...antenna raised

  20. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

    LMAO...you can't do it...you can't just answer a question...

In fact, you DIDN'T say they won the Landry trade, you said:

Not a win, a "improvement" with a "but" after it...

AS for Tyrod, with this statement, you would be saying that Tyrod Taylor is worse than DeShone Kizer (who was the defacto best in the QB room).

I will give you the Green Bay trade, it will take time to analyze given two different positions, etc... But would you argue that even if Randall was a backup, he doesn't improve the depth tremendously? Although, with the announcement you believe DeShone Kizer is a better QB than Tyrod Taylor, maybe you are just upset that the Browns traded him...

Again, I wasn't asking for your analysis on each move..I asked the simple question whether you believe they improved their roster over what was previously on it without the new players...

    Yes...or...No...

Simple question, deserves a simple answer.
