Ron Francis is no longer general manager of the Carolina Hurricanes.

Francis will become Hurricanes president of hockey operations, and Carolina will immediately begin a search for a new GM who will report directly to Tom Dundon, who became majority owner Jan. 11.

This is ditchspeak for "Hey Ron, you are in charge of parking stripes, mustard and jacking up the price of beer."

 

A Vezina Trophy winner is about to take a backseat, at least for a little while.

“He hasn’t had a real good stretch,” Washington Capitals head coach Barry Trotz said of starting goaltender Braden Holtby, speaking to the Washington Post’s Isabelle Khurshudyan. The reigning Jennings Trophy winner allowed three goals on just nine shots before getting chased in last night’s 4-0 loss to the Anaheim Ducks, capping off what has indeed been a bad stretch of games. Holtby has just one win in his last eight games, allowing three or more goals and recording a save percentage of .909 or worse in those other seven losses.

For Trotz and the Capitals, the time has come to give Holtby a break and let backup Philipp Grubauer take over for a while.

 

wow - yesterday's snow storm was insane. it started Tuesday at 10 pm and didn't stop till 4 pm yesterday. our office closed but they said "if you can work from home - do it." Thanks, so I was home but wasn't off. then thanks to the plow plowing me in of more snow, I had to shovel myself out at 4:30. 35 min later and my bad lower back in pain and my right hip and right leg, I was back inside ready to call the morgue to pick me up. 3 Advil and a nap later and still in pain. Got a full night's rest and still feel like I am 90 yrs old. And they are calling for more snow on Monday. I might be dead by then. So much for winter being almost over. Somehow half the schools in Philly and suburbs are closed. Keep in mind it's not snowing now.

beats me. all I know is we had 13-20 inches in some areas and in others 8-12. it was heavy and thick and wouldn't stop till 4pm. it just piled up. and thanks to the Mr. Plow - they plowed me in worse than the snow itself. mE and my bad back were out there an hour just to shovel out the front of my car to pull out today. I backed into a spot. the plow plowed the snow 2 feet high by 4 feet wide by 4 feet deep IN FRONT OF MY CAR. so my back was in agony and my right hip and right leg.

other areas like Lancaster, which called for snow, didn't get any. they were lucky. now they are calling for another storm Monday. Awesome. Most schools are closed today, which is laughable as the roads weren't that bad. They closed schools or had a 2 hr opening as early as Tuesday for today! SOFT.

We had a few inches here in NYC, but it was WET and HEAVY as fuck. It basically rained slush. There was a some flooding around here too. It snowed until around sunset. While it was still coming down, I went out to knock some of the snow and ice off the Jeep, so when I had to go out later it wouldn't be so difficult.

A survey of more than 500 players resulted in Crosby being voted the most difficult to play against, best role model, best team player, the player you'd want to win one game, and the player who would be a great coach upon retirement. Crosby finished second to Connor McDavid for which player to start a franchise with, and to Wayne Gretzky to the question of picking anyone all-time as a teammate.

 

I do skinny but I gotta park my car somewhere, right ? it's a paved parking lot and the plow went past my car and several other cars and the plow pushed snow in front of our cars. that's what I had to shovel out and to get to my driver's side door which had snow in front of it. the place does a shitty job with snow removal and sidewalks weren't done till 11 pm last night.

 

as much as he kills the Flyers, I have always respected his talent and skill level. he certainly lived up to his pre-draft hype and has had a HOF career already. the NHL needs more players like him.

 

I thought you had underground parking. The best part of living in a condo for me was throwing away my ice scraper.

 

underground parking ? haha. I can't think of anyplace near me that has that. I'm in the suburbs skinny. some fancy hotels in philly has those, but most are above ground or street parking. for schleps like me - I was a shoveling fool for an hour. hurt my back and right hip and leg. I swear I wanna move to Florida and be done with this shit.

 

Underground parking is popular over here, mainly for the winters.

 

I can imagine. my former cunt of a cousin used to get snow tires in like October for the winter season.

 

Our winters were a lot worse 25 years ago, NFLD has much worse winters than us, it's parallel with sudbury.
