The Rams just signed Ogletree to a four-year, $42 million extension in October but evidently didn't like his fit in DC Wade Phillips' 3-4 defense. L.A. was gashed by the run last season, and playing Ogletree and Mark Barron, a pair of converted safeties, at inside linebacker was a big reason for that. Both are extremely athletic, but they were too light and got pushed around by offensive linemen. The Rams recoup the fourth-rounder they sent to K.C. in the Marcus Peters deal with this move and clear a bunch of cash off the books for future long-term deals. Linebacker was a massive need for the Giants. Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter
Le’Veon Bell says Steelers won’t see him until Week 1 unless he gets long-term deal The Steelers aren’t going to see Le'Veon Bell until Week 1 unless the running back gets a long-term deal, but Bell said on Instagram Live that he is not sitting out the season. Instead, Bell said he will follow what he did last year, skipping training camp before signing the franchise tag tender the week of the season opener. “Honestly, no, I’m not going to sit out,” Bell said in the chat, via Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “I’m going to be in the facility Week 1. It’s going to be a rerun of last year. I’m not going to camp. I’m not doing nothing else extra, OTAs, none of that. “I’m going to strictly go to what I have to go to. I want to win every game. I want to have the best statistical career that I [possibly] can, so I want to play in every game that I can possibly play.” The Steelers have until July 16 to work out a long-term deal with Bell. Otherwise, he will play under the one-year, $14.54 million tender. “Hopefully, when it comes down to it, we won’t have to deal with [sitting out],” Bell said. “We’ll get a deal done. That’s the biggest thing. We want to get a deal done. . . . If not, I’ll handle it from there, but I definitely won’t be in camp. It’s basically a rerun of last year.” (PFT) _________ _____________________ Do the Steelers really care if Bell is in Camp and doesn't play till week 1? Hell no.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has agreed to reimburse the NFL more than $2 million in legal fees incurred by the league last season in connection to Ezekiel Elliott's suspension appeal and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's contract extension, a source informed of the situation told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. An NFL spokesperson confirmed to Rapoport that the matter between Jones and the league has been "resolved to the satisfaction of all parties" after Jones attended a hearing in front of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the league's finance committee Monday in West Palm Beach, Florida. The Cowboys did not comment on the decision. Jones unsuccessfully spent weeks this past season attempting to slow a new contract extension for Goodell and routinely expressed his anger over running back Elliott's six-game suspension for violating the league's personal-conduct policy. Goodell signed an extension early last December, and Elliott ultimately served his suspension following a lengthy appeals process that took place over much of the 2017 season.
a lot of Eagles fans are pissed about the Bennett move. His lies about the Vegas incident was 1 thing, but then people found out about his new book coming out: "How to Make White People Uncomfortable." http://www.latimes.com/books/jacketcopy/la-et-jc-michael-bennett-20170725-story.html They think he will be a cancer in the locker room. ??? I think the team has enough veterans to tell him to cut his shit out if he starts any trouble.
They might go for a cheaper blocking TE option either way or ask him for a pay cut. I can't see Burton coming back at all now that Bennett is in.
Given the dearth of TE talent on the market, I wouldn't be surprised if Burton got a fairly lucrative deal.
That's why we are hoping he gets paid. A nice comp pick would be decent consolation. Still, I am a little ticked the team only thought of 2017 instead of going forward by not offering him a real extension as an RFA.
well if they cut curry and t. smith and trade darby - they should be fine for cap room. celek may be cut as well.
Darby is pretty irrelevant for cap room. He is dirt cheap. The reason for a trade is that we can't resign him as hell likely want close to the franchise tag amount. So since we have some CB depth for once and can't keep him past 2018 then we might as well trade him.
I hear ya LAJOE. Comcast was going over players they could cut or trade after Bennett signing was announced. Curry is the biggest cut to be made.
He’s saying it the Jersey way. It just doesn’t make sense to have a O in the middle, so us good Americans are fixing it for you.
