Another Penn State guy. They are everywhere...I'm a fan. Bring him in. If we ever get a QB he could be a tremendous asset...
I agree with ya about Barkley being BPA, but I don't know what Gettleman or any other GM thinks. There's no doubt Barkley looks like a surefire star, but you can find those that will argue Fitzpatrick , Chubb and Nelson are as well...We'll see how it goes.
Hard to say. Phins are trying to free up Cap room. No doubt they want to trade. They just didn't wanna see him walk out the door while they were left with nothing, so they are tryin the ol tag and trade. It's a gamble, but not really depending on how bad they want rid of him...Last I heard, he was rumored to Baltimore or Chicago. But it was Cleveland yesterday, so maybe we are still in there...lol! Problem for the Browns is, what if he doesn't want to commit to a longer term deal?
Okay so we have Josh Gordon. Not sure we should count on it, but let's just do for fun. And I believe the Browns think they still have an outstanding talent in Corey Coleman. If the rumors are true, lets go ahead and assume we get Terrelle Pryor as well...At this point, would you rather see the Browns spend a premium pick on a guy like Sutton or Kirk, or would you rather see us deal for a proven commodity like Landry? Or are ya content with those three? Or should we bring in another free agent like Allen Robinson? Eric Decker? Taylor Gabriel? Marquise Lee? Paul Richardson? John Brown? Other? It's a position that has given the Browns fits over the years....I think I'd like to see us get Kirk or Sutton. One of them, along with Pryor, Coleman and Gordon would be a talented WR foursome...
If you're Miami, would you want to send Landry to Baltimore and possibly have him face you in the playoffs, or to Cleveland where he is likely going to toil in the basement?
#2 is worth 2,800 points #4 is worth 1,800 points Right off the rip, it's a delta of 1,000 points (equal to the #16th pick). Browns would have to give up #33 (580) and #35 (550) and get back NYG's fouth rounder? Steep price to pay.
Yet *another* pass rusher we've been linked to. Don't be surprised if one of our top four picks is an edge guy. In some order: QB, RB, DE, and CB Even if he's there at #4, it won't be Chubb.
Also on the topic of deeply flawed, big-armed, prototype quarterbacks who'll be NFL busts (and not Josh Allen this time)...
^^^^^ This is 100%. *IF* the Browns don't plan on taking Baker Mayfield at #1, then I completely support that article. Sign A.J. McCarron, develop Kizer, and hope to hell you draft a team of All Stars. Sam Darnold Josh Allen Josh Rosen ... these guys are *NOT* the answer. The only thing that would get interesting is if they, say, take Barkley at #1, trade out of #4 to a team like Miami (sitting at #11), pick up Jarvis Landry in the deal, and lastly use the #11 pick on Lamar Jackson. Roll into the season with a QB room of McCarron, Kizer, and Jackson. And yes, Lamar Jackson is bait for a better HC to be signed in 2019.
There's also talk that they would be willing to part with Earl Thomas for the right price...Looks like rebuild time for Legion of Boom.
Aren't you just a little intrigued by Allen? When ya watch his college film it's spectacular at times.....Don't have a conniption, it is true. Sometimes you watch him and you just see NFL QB.....The kid is built like Roethlisberger, only his arm is even better. You don't think he could be coached up? Mayfield is my favorite prospect too, but even as convincing as you are, the Browns might go a different direction...Of the other prospects, I'm very curious about Josh Allen....And honestly, I'm less concerned now about Rosen. His vertical showed he does have some athleticism. And like Allen, it's easy to picture him in the NFL... Just trying to keep an open mind...
This is why all the talk of Kirk Cousins making a decision based on the best career situation possible is ludicrous in today's NFL. All things considered for the next decade, not the past three years and just 2018...The Browns actually have one of the brightest 3-6 year windows as far as prospects, money/cap, pressure... Over the next 2-3 years, the Vikings and Broncos will have veterans leaving in droves due to salary cap/free agency opportunities. In essence, Kirk better get a ring in 2018, otherwise, he could find himself in the midst of a rebuild on either of those teams...and throw in the Cardinals for good measure. Really, if he is looking at career stability, the Browns and Jets are the two teams that are at the cusp of their rebuild process. He is coming in right at the time where the winning streak should begin...not end.. Broncos (current cap situation $23M under, DRASTICALLY changes with a Cousins signing) free agents: 2018; Virgil Green(starting TE), Todd Davis(starting ILB), Jared Crick (starting DE) 2019; Domata Peko (starting NT), Max Garcia (starting G) 2020; Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Aquib Talib, Derek Wolfe, Chris Harris, Menelik Watson, CJ Anderson, Shane Ray, Justin Simmons, Riley Dixon Over the next 3 years, 15 starters go to free agency...some can be kept, but many of these are on rookie contracts. Vikings (current cap situation $48M under) free agents: 2018; Sam Bradford, Case Keenum, Teddy Bridgewater, Tom Johnson, Joe Berger, Jerick McKinnon, Jeremiah Sirles, Kai Forbath 2019; Anthony Barr, Eric Kendricks, Ryan Quigley, Danielle Hunter, Stefon Diggs 2020; Kyle Rudolph, Latavious Murray, Andrew Sendejo, Trae Waynes Over the next 3 years 18 starters will need signed or replaced Browns (current cap situation $109M under) free agents 2018; Isaiah Crowell 2019; Joe Thomas, Duke Johnson 2020; JC Tretter, Danny Shelton, Emmanuel Ogbah, Shon Coleman, Joe Schobert Over the next 3 years, 8 starters will need signed or replaced.... Do you see how the horizon could look more bright than other places in the coming years. 1-31 is a daunting statistic, I get it, I lived through it..but the near future could be brighter than anything many of us have experienced in our lifetimes. I for one am excited to see what happens...If they blow everything up again soon...I'll probably be done with the NFL all together.
We have a prospect to "coach up" in Kizer...I agree with the article Sammy provided. Kizer could "get it" at any time. Prospects mature at different rates, but he is built to play in this league and in this division. Ben 6'5" 240 lbs Josh Allen 6'5" 237 lbs Kizer 6'4" 233 lbs, survived his 15 games as a starter, the most starts by a QB since Brandon Weeden in 2015, then Derek Anderson in 2007. Kizer has all the tools that Allen has, and the warts...So, no, for me anyway, Allen doesn't intrigue me at all...Not in the least little bit.
Well I beg to differ. Just judging from the Combine alone, Kizer couldn't hold Josh Allen's jock. I mean, Kizer looked like he had never taken a drop back from Center in his life, and he looked atrocious in every drill. Allen on the other hand, looked every bit like a prospect that will be picked very early in the draft...He has experts claiming he will be the number one pick of the draft. Kizer never sniffed that level. He was never even in that conversation...Automatically lumping Kizer and Allen together, is no different than the folks that say Mayfield is the same as Johnny IMO...
