No, you really haven't, so let me ask you one more time. Yes or No - Did Baker Mayfield perform at the combine the way you believed he would going into it?
He performed worse...I did say that....for a guy that completed 70% of his passes and now throwing vs air I expected a guy to be on target
You responded - That reads that he played down to your expectations. Not worse than what you expected, which seems odd considering how little you thought of him to begin with which is what I was asking for. He did exactly what I thought he would. He hit spot on with near everything middle of the field from short to intermediate. He had varying deep passes and the same with pushing the boundaries. It's what I see from him on tape so it was what I expected. I don't knock them for being late on a couple throws throughout the afternoon because they have zero chemistry with these receivers.
You just expected him to catch on to your answer but Tim can't just assume that it was the answer because the attitude could easily be misinterpreted.
I'm not interested in where he goes. I'm interested in what you think about his game and how you come to your conclusions. So, break down Mayfield's game for me and let's see if we agree on anything.
I saw them. They were vague and not exactly answering what Tim was asking. I'm just saying if you clearly answered then with yes or no instead of all that other stuff it would have saved all of this.
I think he is a 6 ft QB that will struggle from the pocket in the NFL....doesnt have the strongest arm therefore he must throw w great anticipation, but if his vision is clouded that window will close....he played in a great offense at Okla, but played vs poor defenses....I wanted to see him vs Georgia and I saw a QB that was very confused once they made adjustments....hell Kirby Smart is on record saying they wanted to make Mayfield beat them so obviously he didnt think he could...he was right
In the context of the conversation, no, it wasn't really answering the question. I've read you post all of this throughout the thread at different times. Is there anything to add or does this pretty much sum it up?
Ya that's when you started answering but then right away it was back to vague. Either way it isn't worth talking about anymore. Although I think he had a other question for you that I'd be interested in hearing your answer as well.
Kirby Smart obviously isn't. Mayfield dropped 48 points on Kirby's D. Ya, Oklahoma gave up 54 points and lost but, the last time I looked, Mayfield didn't play defense.
yep 7 came on defense and they couldnt stop Anderson in the 1st half....like I said they made adjustments at half and shut them down
Giving up 14 points in the 2nd half was better than the 31 they gave up in the 1st half but 14 points a half is hardly shutting anybody down. And, OBTW, scoring 54 points against a team that plays (according to you) in a conference that doesn't play defense? Awesome!
