Shazier should never set foot on a football field again after that injury except in a coaching capacity. We will have him next year as a very expensive coach. I hope and pray the Steelers never put him out there again as a player after that injury because although I hope for his full recovery, I cannot believe his body could handle playing in the NFL after sustaining that kind of injury.

I disagree with the last part. I think physically he could possibly make it back, but mentally not likely. Just don’t think he can go through that and come back and take on RBs

I hope he has a full recovery so he can walk up to the podium at his retirement press conference. He was a great player with amazing speed but I just want the best for him. He's got a big bank account, a loving significant other, and a bright coaching future.

Call it a day. We'll miss you.

I believe D Freeman is the highest paid rb on a long term contract at an average of $8.5 million. Bell wanting $15 million is crazy. That is 180% of the highest contract now. That is like Antonio Brown wanting $27 million a year when he signed his new deal.

Bell and Brown have the same value to our team.

Then give them both $9 million a year. LOL

Hard to buy into the author's "rented wood chipper" / "Steelers reluctant to sign him long term" line of thinking when Bell turned down 5yrs, 60 million. And then he argues Bell should have been the highest paid RB in 2017. He was, and by a wide margin.

Dion Lewis wants $6 million a year if things fall through with Bell.

Raiders may be balk on offering Marshawn Lynch another $5.9M.

Don't see him getting that. He's not a 300 carry back. But I'd give him 3M a year to be part of a 1-2 punch with Conner and then draft another young guy in the mid-rounds. This draft is deeeeeeeeep with RB talent.

I just wanted to quote this because it needs repeated.

I agree, this draft is deeeeeeeeep with RB talent.

John Kelly in the 4th round could solve anyone's running back woes. Kid is a beast.

If you're looking for a 5'9", 205 pound back you need to take a look at Chase Edmonds. He shot up my board at the beginning of December and backed it up with really good horizontal movement numbers at the combine.

What do you think the Steelers will do with Bell tomorrow? I assume they will put the franchise tag on him. $15 million for one year or on a long term deal is too much. I'm probably in the minority but I think the offer of $12 million a year the Steelers reportedly made last year is too much. $8.5 million a year on a multi year contract is the highest right now.

Le'Veon Bell is expected to skip camp for the second consecutive year when the Steelers place the franchise tag on him.
The Steelers are expected to tag Bell barring a last-second deal. Retirement is likely an exaggeration. Bell is more inclined to skip all of training camp for the second consecutive season if he and the Steelers can't reach a long-term deal. "We're not coming to a number we both agree on," Bell told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. "I don't think I should settle for anything less than what I'm valued at." Bell has reportedly set his floor at $14.5 million per year, based on his franchise tag number. Devonta Freeman is currently the league's highest paid running back at $8.25 million per year. Terrel Davis thinks Bell should get $20 million a year. LOL.

Which is why he has people lining up for him to be a GM lol no way is Bell worth 20 million. 14.5 is stretching it quite a bit. At this point I feel like they should shut down negotiations because Bell isn’t going to compromise at all. If they are able to get a good RB in the draft, rescind the franchise tag and let him rap himself out of Pittsburgh.

Bell came down $500k from the $15 million a year he wanted. LOL

Instead of using $14.5 million this year on Bell would it be better to get Carlos Hyde or Dion Lewis, a FA LB or S, and draft a RB?

I really agree with this. I'm a big Carlos Hyde fan. The Steelers will score points throwing the ball with or without Bell. Hyde had 59 catches last year and almost 1000 yards on a bad team (before Jimmy G). Give him 6mil per year and spend on D.
That is the real shortcoming with the Steelers and we all see it. They should too.
