Really, the Darnold news isn't a huge story. I've got almost all my Top 5 by position locked by now and the Combine is only going to give me pause if someone tests (1) way below where they're expected, or (2) way above where they're expected.

Darnold was never going to crack the Top 3 (Mayfield, Jackson, Rosen) and it's laughable - to me - the media is still pushing the "Darnold #1" narrative it started after his impressive bowl game win in 2016-17 season over Penn State.

I have Darnold as Undraftable until the 3rd or 4th round!

I think you're being too generous. I think of him as the 2nd coming of Matt Leinhart.

Well, we all have our thoughts on these QBs, but honestly, in my assessment, I have Rosen in that same category. I just don't see ANY research that points to him being a successful QB at the next level. Size and what "looks like" a decent arm, but no other tangibles on film anywhere would indicate that this is a kid you want to put your franchise future into.

You can find any number articles breaking down what Rosen does well and highlighting them into a reason he should be the top draft pick, but none of them show every throw in every game...He is so inconsistent it is almost as if he might be getting lucky on the throws he does make on pure arm talent. He is supposed to be very intelligent, but some of his decisions, I would certainly question.

These same types of breakdowns can be made for every QB in the draft....I want to see the breakdowns that show why he shouldn't be taken high...that goes for all the QBs. You don't see that type of breakdown. I want to know exactly what needs fixed to give them a chance at success.

Wow... Josh Allen is even more garbage:

NFL scouts, execs reveal questions teams have about top QB prospects

I knew he wasn't a good quarterback but turns out his shoulder could be yet another major limitation (to a long and distinguished list of them).

Rosen has been on the QB2/QB3 fringe for a while. He's probably a QB3 making me an extreme outlier from the rest of the NFL world since QB1 is Mayfield and QB2 is Lamar Jackson.

Rosen is a terrific thrower, but not passer. He's got textbook mechanics and top-end pocket movement ability... but my largest concern is that those are the things coaches get paid to develop in prospects. You take that away... and what's left? A good, not great, quarterback.

Rosen, for me, is a plug-and-play along the lines of a Kirk Cousins. He's not an "elite" guy in any facet, but he's sound enough and has enough of the other aspects to his game to be a very successful .500 QB. I don't see an "it" or anything that makes me think he's an alpha... just a damn good thrower.

However, his arm and accuracy is nothing like Goff's coming out and he's not going to beat anyone once a play design breaks down. He actually has a bad habit of making those poor decisions when the play breaks down. He doesn't have the creativity of a Mayfield, Jackson, or even Darnold, so you get forced passes which are okay at the college level but will be ultra-destructive at the NFL level.

Makes me wonder why he is afraid to throw to WR that he's not familiar with. For a guy that is "supposed" to be one of top QB's in the draft one would think he would relish at the chance to show off his stuff.
Given the amount of questions I have about his game and ability to translate to the next level. I'd prefer he went through the paces with WR he's not familiar with. Makes me wonder at how much competitive drive he has.

Better ball placement, stronger arm, and better all around athlete compared to the QB built/ran like a sprinter. But besides that, yeah, poor mans version of a completely inferior player.

  11. LOL......RG3 worst comp % was Lamar's best.....u got it Dog

LOL - I did already, but it doesn't hurt to bump for Mayfield!

McVay, the newest darling of the NFL, is a *HUGE* Mayfield fan and reportedly has said he thinks he's the best in the class. But what does he know...

Hue Jackson: "I love throwing deep at the expense of a reasonable game-plan."

Todd Haley: "I, too, love throwing deep, but I make sure to keep a well-balanced game-plan."

    Baker Mayfield:

If completion percentage made a QB, Cody Kessler would be in Canton (sorry Sam).

Besides that wasn't what I said.

A better measure could be TDs which Bob had 8 more but if you remove the partial season of 09, its 2. Bob did have 106 more attempts, again remove 09 and its 37. To keep the theme going, it would be 842 more passing yds.

A good stat is YPA. Jackson was 8.3, BG3 was 8.6. So I would take that argument.

If you want to go yards from scrimmage, Jackson blows RGME out of the water by over 1,000 yds (Im giving him the partial year this time).

If you break down those passing stat differences over a 3 yr period, its a blip on the radar and basically the same QB. Factor in running, and the guy who is a more fluid runner and better football player gets the nod.

    Avg TD delta: 2.6
    Avg ATT delta: 12.3
    Avg Pass YD delta: 280.6

    That's PER SEASON. That's nothing.

It's crazy how a quarterback on arguably one of the best college teams in America has a good year and he's essentially Tom Brady, but Josh Gordon is the best receiver in the NFL for a season on an absolute crap team (not even a full schedule at that) and he's either (1) a bum, (2) a one-time fluke, or (3) a bum.
