How did that work out for the sabres? Accumulating picks is a good thing obviously, but overrated.

 

And the NYR have 2of each 1s, 2s, and 3s.

If they don’t have too many prospects coming to fruition at the same time I like the idea of having a number of quality picks. Bruins did the same thing a few years back but they haven’t landed any studs from it yet. Missed on some obvious ones but I won’t get in to that again.

 

I like accumulating picks in order to use them as currency in a package deal.

 

Trading away picks is a bad thing, it's good to consistently pick in rounds 2 to 4. History has shown that good quality players come out of those rounds, and can win you cups.

 

Especially in today’s cap world you need those cheap ELCs in the lineup

When you go through your career as a 2nd or 3rd round pick, your salary will have that ceiling. These picks are the best when it comes to getting an over achiever with good character.

Too many contracts, you have to decide which 19 year old is worth keeping, which isn't. You have to do the right package deal to help you get the big fish

 

I don't think pegula was patient enough to do a proper rebuild. Getting Okposo and ROR looked burkian to me.

 

Bruins sign Gionta to a cheapo deal. No risk possible reward situation and I love it.

 

Oilers trade Letestu to Nashville for Pontus Aberg.
Nashville then shipped Letestu to Columbus for a 4th.

 

even though the trade is blocked for now - love the guts of the pens gm to make the move. they see the standings and know they need more for a playoff push ! love the guts man.

I like this for Anaheim for the same reason I like Gionta to Boston. Actually Gionta and Kelly bring similar attributes to their new teams although I’d guess that Kelly will slide right in to the Ducks’ lineup.
