I agree Will. Canada has a record number of medals and the Americans don't seem to be showing up like they usually do.
many Americans who won gold in Sochi not only didn't defend their medals successfully but some didn't even medal at all this time around. this must be one of the lowest American medal totals in 20-30 yrs.
Germany allows a 5 on 5 empty net Shorty with less than a minute left. Goalie should have come out and made himself big.
It wasn't lucky. Goalie didn't come out and he easily picked it past him. Lucky that it got there to begin with though.
Whenever Germany should pass it on the perimeter they go and either shoot from the point or try to pass it forward to the slot.
That was a great game. Germany got some very unlucky breaks in this game. Buzzer beater in the 1st, loose puck teed up for game tying goal and a poke check riding up a stick for the game costing high-sticking penalty.
I agree Joe, it was a great game. Not to argue or start beating a dead horse, but in that situation the goalie cant come out of the net. All the Russians were down low... if the goalie in that situation comes out to cut the angle a simple pass to the slot or far side leaves an empty net. I will give the shooter more credit after seeing replays tho. Live it looked to me like a lucky chip, but after seeing replay it was a decent shot and a pretty good one too.
Norway won the final event so they win the Olympics. Tie Canada(2010) and Germany(2018) for most Golds ever in an Olympics. Germany really needed that gold in hockey. They essentially lost the Olympics with that.
Winning this gold medal at his fifth Olympics meant more to 39-year-old captain Pavel Datsyuk than the two times he lifted the Stanley Cup. "When you play for your country and I win this medal, this special time it's more important," Datsyuk said. "I have accomplished my dream. Now I have no dream."
Really? Seriously? You feel that winning the gold in a year where no nhl players were allowed to participate is better than a cup? Commie, putin loyalist.
