Trades and Potential Trades

Brassard's ultimate value versus E Kane's value is completely dependent on the receiving team's perceived need. Yes, Brassard and Kane are similar-ish here and there, but the Penz needed a C3 more than a Wing. Otherwise, E Kane would be on his way to hoisting the cup in a few months. Sorry Evander. I think Kane is the better scorer, but Brassard fits the Penz system more fluidly. Brassard is essentially expected to be this year's Bonino. It was good for GMJR to unload Cole (was seeing less TOI), and the Reaves experiment was nice while it lasted. TEH PHIL and Geno were big Reaves fans. I was also a little disappointed in letting go of Gustavsson (goalie project), but the Penz are rarely short of quality goal tenders (BCGE/Murray/Jarry/Smacks), and it is a very critical need for Ottawa.

GMJR: "This is the most complex trade I've made," Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford said. "Three-way deals are hard to make. We thought we had the deal made earlier in the day; it wasn't made. We had to make a couple changes. It took quite a bit longer than most. There was [salary] cap issues."

The Golden Knights will retain 40% of Brassard's salary for this season.

What one team gets back in a trade doesn't necessesarily mean that another team will get the equivalent. You have to find a team that has assets willing to give away.

There are not enough top six F's available to meet demand for teams prepping for the playoffs.

This is the reason that sellers wait until close to the deadline. That, plus the prorated balance of remaining salary drops 1/81 with every game played.

Rutherford has done another great job. He has that core, and he finds a way to restock the complimentary pieces around them each season.

But boy did they pay a lot for a bottom six player on the wrong side of 30. It'll be worth EVERY bit if they hoist the Cup again.

Only TB & BOS could stand in their way in the EC - IMHO.

E Kane is not playing tonight (potential trade), The Sabres should hire a police escort to bring him to and from the game.

Reaves himself cost the Pens quite a bit already.
Pretty clear that it’s worth it for Pitt to pay for cap help and get a quality player to anchor the middle of the lineup. Like frank said, another Bonino. That’s gonna be a hard act to follow I thought Bonino was a force in the postseason. Obviously Nashville saw him close up and thought the same thing.

I am all for the Bruins signing Brian Gionta. He will help in the locker room at the very least. Not sure where he’d fit in the lineup but he’d be nice depth for free.

Elliotte Friedman says, it's most likely he's going to boston.

Did they say what the return would look like?

  13. skinny123 Guest

No, they just said it looks like he's going there.

I wonder. There’s the rumor that the Rags wanted Debrusk but I think that was involved in a McDonagh trade.

Rangers would have to eat salary so that’s only making him more valuable. He’s also been on a tear lately.
He could pair up real well with Krejci.

All that said, I’ve never really liked Rick Nash. Would be a fun trade but McDonagh should be the real target.

Ryan Donato or first round pick.

  17. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

Oh man, Donato back with Vesey?

Maybe it's just the thing vesey needs to wake him up.

    He seems to need something.

I can see Donato having more value to NYR than in Boston. More playing opportunities and a soft landing if and when he turns pro.
He’s always said that he would sign with the Bruins and not take it to FA. Have to assume that could throw a wrench in his trade value.

    Good deal for both teams.
