It was 2.23...I got two firsts this year, AND two seconds this year from Buffalo. I used picks 1.22 and 2.23, acquired from Buf, to move up for a game changer at LB in Edmunds... It's all good Irish...I got this. Plus, I did say the Browns knocked it out of the park on this one....So not really selling myself too short. lol! Of course, it's kind of easy to make the great haul claim, when I give em 7 first round talents in a three rd mock...
Now you've got @Lyman lamenting the fact we have the youngest roster in the NFL (again). If we're gonna get trade happy, I'd rather go all-in on some vets. Marcus Peters is on the block in Kansas City (yes please). Call Los Angeles and try to pry Aaron Donald away from them (who wouldn't give up #4 overall for that guy?) with another pending franchise tag and tough salary cap situation. Richard Sherman could be a cap casualty for Seattle... hit them up. Ditto for Jordy Nelson in Green Bay and/or Odell Beckham Jr. - what's the cost? Love the idea of adding picks, but we can't roll into 2019 in "win now" mode with another 12-15 rookies (including rookie QB). And it does seem that John Dorsey is setting up for a "win now" approach, based on all his comments.
He said we should be competitive in the AFC North. I dug that stat up a while back, but I think we're something like 3-21 in the past four years against them. So we either need to load up on talented vets, or he believes we've got the roster to win now and just need a few "icing on the cake" pieces added.
Since Haslam bought the team (2012)... Bengals: 3-9 Ravens: 2-10 Steelers: 2-10 Overall: 7-29 And yes... 3-21 in the past four seasons.
I know what you did, you received 1.21, 1.22, 2.21 and 2.23. THEN traded 1.22 and 2.23 for 1.10. That still leaves 1.21 and 2.21 to be picked in your mock...except you didn't pick at 2.21 in your mock: 1.4 QB Baker Mayfield (he will be there) 1.10 (Browns trade 1.22 and 2.23 to SF for this pick) LB Tremaine Edmunds 1.21 CB Josh Jackson 2.1 WR Courtland Sutton 2.4 DT Maurice Hurst 2.32 C Billy Price 3.1 RB Sony Michel 3.32 (Buf) D.J. Chark You only picked the Browns original picks in the second round...leaving off 2.21 from your trade.
Yeah, you're right. lol! I thought you were saying I picked one too many... 2.21 Browns select: EDGE Sam Hubbard (might as well keep the "steal" theme going)
The only problem I have with this is Sutton, Hurst, Price, Hubbard, and Michel are all potential first round guys. Yeah, it's a win for Cleveland but seems patently unfair to the rest of the league.
Mel Kiper's first foray into web design. http://draftjoshallen.com/ Spoiler: Spoiler Ahead It did not go well.
Maybe it would be unfair to the rest of the league if they let me run the war room in Berea. lol!..No seriously, I've admitted that it was dominant draft by the Browns. But honestly, ratings are subjective. It depends on where ya look... Lets just use the big board at Drafttek for example; #7 Baker Mayfield - check #9 Maurice Hurst - Steal #11 Tremaine Edmunds - Check #17 Courtland Sutton - steal #20 Josh Jackson- Check #40 Sam Hubbard - Check #53 Sony Michel - Check #63 Billy Price - Check Not that they are the end all, but according to them, my only blatant steals were Sutton and Hurst....Everyone else picked in the ballpark of projected number.
Last year, I would have bet Obi Melifonwu, Alvin Kamara and Zach Cunningham would have gone much higher. Ya just never know... But yeah, I absolutely tilted everything Cleveland's way ... My mock was never going to be a typical Browns draft, all chalked full of disappointment and broken dreams. I can assure you of that.
And people wonder why I cringe when we talk about a team (Cleveland) with a GM (Dorsey) who lost his last job because he so badly mis-managed the cap signing an above-average system QB (Cousins) to a historic deal. #HardPass
I'm hoping that's why we retained DePodesta and some other execs...The Chiefs were a mess with the Cap, but they were close to being atop the AFC. Let's hope he's learned some lessons. His specialty is talent evaluation. Gotta know your lane...
