While I couldn't agree more with your point of view on the show. After reading the whole article it appears that nothing is actually going to change. There are some who "hope" a little less volume in the political/# movements are in the show. I think they want the political speak, but know the public doesn't want it. They are only really worried about the $$. Not about keeping it just about the movies. IMHO
i would love for the Academy to warn them bf the show of new rules about lashing out against Trump or Weinstein, Metoo or TimesUp. Just tell these yahoos to knock it off and present an award or win with honor. it takes tons of people to make a movie and you are being recognize for acting or writing or sound mixing or editing or directing. speak about that. if i was the Academy, i would use their membership against them. Speak out and be kicked out of the Academy like Weinstein was. Now that would send shock waves to all of them!
I think it depends on the way it's written up. I have a non-disclosure agreement from a little over a decade ago and after you posted this I dug it out to look it over. According to the copy I have - The way that I have always read this is once I agreed to sign it I was never allowed to share anything from my time involved with that company.

This was working with information in the digital realm so I'm not sure if there are different types of restrictions that can be placed on people depending on the situation. If I had to wager a guess, I would think that these types of agreements are completely dependent on the agreed upon terms and whatever those terms are would decide what is enforceable in a court room.
I saw this part. Which I take to mean you can talk about it when it's irrelevant to them. I have one also. 8 or 9 years ago. It was about how vacation time was earned. They changed the rules. But. In the process, broke every labor law in California. Two years later, I got layed off. Then I called them on it. Told them, "Pay me, and I go away quietly. Make me go to the State Labor Board and file against you ?? You'll be paying me and the other 80-90 people that were working there at the time. Plus fines !! I'm guessing around $60-70,000 plus whatever the State does to them. They paid me. I'm guessing that now I could tell all the bloody details,(names, dates, etc) because the statute of limitations has long run out for these other people to file against the company. But ??? Nah !!! What's the point now ??
