Wayne was also across the isle from Another No Name wide receiver from Indianapolis...Marvin Harrison...Wayne was also dealing with an ankle sprain that rookie season, which cost him 7 games. Coleman was brought in to be the teams #1 receiver...Wayne was brought in to be another tool for the Colts already powerful offense...Let's take a breath here with the comparisons...
I ask why its a dream scenario that Mayfield falls when they dont need a QB if they sign Cousins and you get all mad....maybe they dont want a QB at 21 or 22 if they get Cousins....maybe thats YOUR dream scenario and not Dorsey's
I tend to judge a prospect first and foremost on - what I think - is the most important question: can they play? Coleman at 6'4" and Coleman at 5'11" both have the same answer to that question. And he was a Top 15 pick, so...
He can't... he hates Cody Kessler worse than DeShone Kizer. Blaming Kizer would be admitting that Kessler is/was better.
I like the fact you used the Colts as your sounding board though stopper... Let's see what they did: Offense built through the draft over a 6 year period: 1996 First round WR Marvin Harrison (#19 OA) 1998 #1 overall pick QB Peyton Manning 1999 #4 overall pick RB Edgerrin James 2001 First round WR Reggie Wayne (#30 OA) 2002 First round TE Dallas Clark (#24 OA) The Browns are a little out of order, BUT: Offense built through the draft over a 4 year period 2016 First Round WR Corey Coleman (#15 OA) 2017 First Round TE Njoku (#29 OA) 2018 #1 overall pick QB Baker Mayfield 2018 #4 overall pick RB Saquon Barkley 2019 First Round WR??? I can't wait to see who they get, can you? In the meantime, they have Josh Gordon (would have been a first rounder if not for off field issues, could he become a Chris Carter??)
Nevermind Coleman started two more games than Wayne. Reggie Wayne posted Coleman's career stat line in his second season... playing in 16 games and starting only seven of them. Wayne (2002): 49 receptions, 716 yards, 4 TD, 68.1% catch rate [7 starts] Coleman (career): 56 receptions, 718 yards, 5 TD, 42.7% catch rate [8 starts]
OH SNAP!!! @showstopper - your boy, Walter Football with the upset: (He has them taking Saquon Barkley #1 overall.)
Bottom line, time. One of two things is gonna happen April 26th: We either take Baker Mayfield, or... We don’t take Baker Mayfield and we’re having all these exact same arguments again in 1-3 seasons.
Fixed it for ya Either the Browns FO gets it right this time or they dont. We all have our opinion as to whom the "right guy" is, but that may not fit with Dorsey and Co. view of the world. Though I do whole heartedly agree that if they don't get it right soon we'll be playing this Broken PHUQUING record over again.
Well yesterday was fun. How about another round of Cleveland Browns draft speculation? Just to piss stopper off, I'll continue the trade with Buffalo theory, only with some tweaks. Bills possess two #1's and two #2's this year, and they want a QB. So if there is gonna be a blockbuster deal, this seems the most likely partner.....This time, no Kirk Cousins signing, and Joe Thomas has announced his retirement.... Lets say the ESPN heads were right and nobody good will come here to play QB via free agency. ...So in this instance, we make the deal with Buffalo weeks ahead of the draft, and the haul is much more because it's for #1 overall...Dorsey has realized that there are 4 rookie QB's he can live with, so he pulls the trigger and deals #1...Browns acquire QB Tyrod Taylor, RT Jordan Mills, picks 21, 22, 53, 55, 96 and a future (2019) 1st and 2nd....So that's three #1's, three #2's, a #3 and two veteran players. C So that gives us a veteran QB , and a solid RT for starters, and a boat load of picks....Also assume LT Nate Solder, WR Terrelle Pryor, RB LeVeon Bell and S LaMarcus Joyner were added via free agency...Plenty to spend since Cousins wouldn't take any. 1.4 QB Baker Mayfield (he will be there) 1.10 (Browns trade 1.22 and 2.23 to SF for this pick) LB Tremaine Edmunds 1.21 CB Josh Jackson 2.1 WR Courtland Sutton 2.4 DT Maurice Hurst 2.32 C Billy Price 3.1 RB Sony Michel 3.32 (Buf) D.J. Chark I can see worse scenarios...And remember stopper, I am fully expecting every one of these moves to happen...
TD, I can appreciate your exercise in speculation here. After all, why not? It is the silly season for the NFL. Just curious, who slides over to LT with Thomas hanging it up? And what's the OL depth chart/starters look like. On a side note: My buddy at work is thinking Billy Price as a possible late 1st to mid 2nd rounder. And just my take on this (not to stir a pot up or anything), I don't see Dorsey doing much trading unless it is a "can't turn down proposition." I think Dorsey was brought in to spend the picks Sashi acquired and get this team up and running NOW (whereas Sashi was still looking another year or two down the road). I guess all of this hinges on what the new OC wants/needs, how much of a voice Hue still has, and possibly a heckuva trade offer (pretty sure we aren't going to see the likes of another Herschel Walker or Ricky Williams type offer). Keep on speculating. What else are we gonna do until the end of April?
I am assuming Nate Solder, since he signed him in free agency with all the money Cousins left on the table... I agree about Price and Sony Michel might end up in the first round...
