Isles will lose JT for nothing.

If they don't cut bait with him by monday, he's gone for good.

 

The Pens could use a 3rd line center (Tavares).

 

Tavares is going to want $10M, isles are in a tough spot now. This decision would be so much easier if they weren't in a playoff race.

If they trade him now, they could get a 2018 1st, 2019 2nd, a couple of prospects and a roster player.

 

I wish the Flyers would trade Simmonds, the entire 4th line, half their bench and some picks for Tavares. Wishful thinking I know.

Realistically - Simmonds and Patrick and some picks for JT ?

haha skinny. if the Flyers were to acquire him, they would do everything they could to resign him. I have 0 faith in Hextall to get anyone decent to help the offense so JT is not even remotely possible realistically or kiddingly.

 

I'm still not sure if he isn't re-signing, from everything I've heard, he isn't. It kind of reminds me a little like stamkos, except he likes it there.

 

I think Tavares goes back to the NYI long term, a la Stamkos.

If not, then he'll probably follow in his uncle's footsteps and play professionally in Buffalo. (John Tavares was a star player for the Bandits indoor lacrosse team.)

 

I have no idea what's going on in his head, the isles only card is to hold on to him and hope he re-signs. Maybe his uncle could convince him to come to buffalo, 25% of the cap would go to him and jack.

 

I’m with Dan, I think he’ll stay with the Islanders.

 

Trade: Kings get Rieder, Wedgewood from Coyotes for Kuemper

The Kings add some speed. The Coyotes get some future goaltending insurance.

 

Frank Vatrano traded to florida for 3rd rounder.

 

Ryan McD gives the rags his 10 team NTC list, leafs not on that list.

 

Anyone have any thoughts on this kid?

 

Vatrano has a really strong shot and he can get it off fast.
Kinda clunky skater. He’s streaky but you probably acquired him to play 2nd or 3rd line minutes, he’s a little weak defensively.
He’s a local kid that went to UMass and signed with the Bruins as a FA.
I could see him do well in the right role, could be in Florida.

 

The team has started to find its roles in the first and second line, granted it took some shakeups.
The 4th line has what I think is a good combination of effort, smart, potentially dangerous skaters.
The third line needs the most improvement, and I think that's where Vatrano might fit in. McCann has bounced back and forth between lines, so he might move up with Vatrano on the bottom. Either way, he'll be an immediate bottom 6 add at a position that looked bad coming into the season, and hasn't really gotten better.

I appreciate the thoughts, Matty. Boston did a good job recouping their pick while getting a guy at a bigger position of immediate need than wing.
