Fair enough. Just for conversations sake, I would go more towards what Shanahan ran early on with RGIII. Then just make sure you continue to put talent around him and hope the mental part of his game evolves much better than RGIII's did. Defensive reads, progressions, etc.

Could certainly add some of the versatile personnel aspects from your plan as well. Try not to let the defense substitute.

Don't make me rename it Draft Accuracy Challenge. It doesn't have the same pizazz.

Don't make me force one of the other Piazzas to do it. If you think I would be late getting the scoring done then good luck with them.

Pardon me if this has already been addressed, but I noticed the draft pool number on my Salary sheet is different from the suggested number on the table at OTC....So when I re-figured my draft pool allotment due to a few trades involving draft picks coming and going, I just used the numbers at OTC, since everyone seems to favor their accuracy...

Draft pool changes. Add up all your picks' values individually and subtract $480,000 from the total for each player.

I missed an opportunity to start that post with "Don't make me".

Couldn't I just multiply my number of picks by $480k, and then deduct that number?

  9. LAOJoe Assistant Coach Manager Patreon Silver Maple Leafs Eagles

That is what I said. I just called the picks players.

So if I have 6 picks, I deduct $2,880,000 from the suggested estimates at OTC....That's something I didn't know. Thx.

There is one exception. You can only subtract that 480k per player when there are more than 53 (well I guess 51) players on the roster. Of you haven't reached that number yet you have to keep the full amount.

It's not even $480K. It's whatever the current lowest contracts that count to the cap are.

I understand...but can I ask why that is the rule?

Well essentially imagine you have 5 draft picks and your roster still has space for 1 player that would count to the offseason cap. So you have 50 players under contract before the draft.

After you sign draft picks you would have players drop below so they aren't in the top 51/53 anymore, so that creates cap space.

Your bottom 5 cap contract slots right now may look like this:
    47. $600,000
    48. $530,000 (with a $50k bonus)
    49. $530,000
    50. $480,000
    51. $0 (no 51st player signed)

In this situation you would total your 5 draft picks (let's pretend it's $5M).
Then you subtract the contracts they are replacing ($2,140,000) and that makes $2.86M
You have to add the bonus money though so.
$2.91M would be our rough cap hold.

I personally prefer just to keep track of my Total(all) salaries and count everyone. It's easier than doing that somewhat fuzzy math. That's easier to do when you aren't a bottom 5 team in cap space however. I have room left so it's no biggie for me.

The All isn't good if you are near the cap. Just take you top 51 and add $1M to get a rough call on what you need.

I was about to reply but "I don't have permission popped up" which means you deleted what I tried to reply to.

The whole concept of dead money is confusing to me...But it's my understanding that it does count against the cap space. If I'm wrong, please let me know...lol!

It only counts against the cap if the player is no longer on your roster.

Dead Money all counts towards your cap. All bonus money, even if not on your top 51/53 players, counts towards your cap.
