But seriously....if you're going the macros route...it's all or nothing. Don't half ass it or you're cheating your body and you won't get results. Fully commit.

Yeah I totally understand and agree. It's just getting that many calories into me is an issue. I've got the good carbs covered because of all the greens I eat but the fat and protein is hard to get right.

One of the concepts that I introduce to my clients as they begin their journey into yoga is to simply show up. I think a large part of the problem with starting a workout routine are the first steps. It can be pretty overwhelming when/if you are new to a gym or to a practice and you see everyone in great shape and they look like they know what they're doing. One thing that I always find comforting is that you only get one first time for anything. The 2nd time at the gym, or power walking or strength-training makes it all a lot less overwhelming and nerve-wracking.

Just show up. I painted that on the wall at one of my yoga studios a few years ago. It just makes so much sense to me.

So last night I hit the wall right in the middle of teaching my class. This is the 2nd time this has happened (it happened in early December too) and the last time I got sick with pneumonia for 3 weeks. I think my body is trying to tell me something.

I can't not do yoga because I have a client base who depend on me. Aside from taking advantage of the times when I don't teach (most afternoons) by not doing my home practice, any other suggestion about what I can do?

    @BearsWillWin or anyone else?

Are you taking any suppliements? Have you had your iron check lately? How much water are you drinking? Do you drink anything to replace electrolytes?

Well shit. No. No. Lots of water because that's all I drink. And no.

Bloody hell. What kind of supplements Roger?

I don't know...just asking. Could be low iron in your blood.

It's not a bad idea to drink water with electrolytes. You can basically just add salt or baking soda...small amounts...to your normal water. Tastes awful but it replenishes your body with what you're losing by being so active and sweating. You can also add lemon or lime to the water...slices or just the juice. Along with the salt that will give you a good boost of electrolytes. I typically add a teaspoon of honey to every 20-30 ounces of water before or after a workout....honey really helps your body in a lot of ways. It helps you to absorb nutrients and it's also going to give you a bit of glucose that will convert to energy for you. And it definitely makes it tastes better.

Let's say you're gonna drink 16 ounces of water....

Fill your bottle up half way...or 8 ounces

add a small dash of salt or baking soda...

a few slices of citrus or 4-8 ounces of citrus juice...I use lemons and limes but you can also use grapefruit, oranges, anything in the citrus family. Orange juice also works. I like pure lemon and lime juice because then I'm taking in less sugar.

And add a teaspoon of honey.

I'd recommend that a couple times a day. It's going to restore your bodies electrolytes and should provide you with some energy.

Baking soda in water is supposed to be really good for colds but ... it tastes unspeakably bad and I cannot, I will not do that. I can easily do lemon and I do drink a lot of apple cider vinegar with organic honey, does that count for anything? Have you ever tried apple cider? I hate the taste with a passion but when you couple it with a TBSP of honey it tastes a bit like gingerale.

LOL I just finished reading another sentence. I really should read the whole post before replying :)

So if you add salt to your water and then lemon slices can you still taste the salt?

My suggestion is just stop hitting the wall so you don't break your hand.

Sorry gidion, I have no idea what you're talking about here. Can you clarify?

Do you know what, 'hitting the wall' means in athletic terms? :)

It's really only a pinch and you won't really taste it with the citrus juice being added. Apple cider vinegar is good but you won't get the electrolytes you need from it. I drink apple cider vinegar daily because I have GERD and it helps a lot controlling the symptoms.

At your age it means your body is starting to tell you to go fuck yourself.

Ah okay. The taste of baking soda in water is horrible. I make my own toothpaste with it and that's barely tolerable LOL

Okay I'm going to do this. I just get so busy with all of my classes that I forget that I need to support my muscles better.
