I'm looking at what's left of my home phone across the kitchen floor and your diabolical laugh is ringing through my head...

    You suck, lol.

If it makes you feel better I need to take care of 4 teams' pre-FA stuff now. I'm gonna hold off on editing the spreadsheet for now though. I've got enough of a headache trying to figure it out without messing it up, especially with deadcap.

Eh, you have rentals so you know the drill...

If I was standing in the yard down there right now it would look and sound something like this (minus the hug) -

    Yeah, my mustache is bitchin'.

Dude has been giving us trouble with rent but we know he has a new job so we gave him a break but dude needs to stop promising shit he cant. Friday is Friday and Monday is Monday. If you will miss it for some reason don't tell us after the fact. We know he is good for it because of the shit he is going through before the bank and government release his money but still this guy always promises and is late lol.

He had Bitonio for 3 starts. That line was awful.

This is so myopic. The goal is to win football games and when the top two QBs on your roster are failing miserably and your 3rd option has played well in meaningful games you give him an opportunity. You don't let him rot on the bench because he didn't light it up in the preseason. If the preseason was end-all-be-all they wouldn't have cut Osweiler and paid him 15M to be a Bronco. He was their best QB in preseason and they piad him to go away.

I truly believe your confirmation bias in regards to Kizer effects your ability to think clearly.

This was another huge mistake by Sashi and yet another reason he was fired. Osweiler WAS the best QB on the roster last season. There was absolutely NO reason to release him. You were paying that big salary no matter where his ass was parked. They saved what $750,000 by him signing with the Broncos. I believe Sashi cost this team at the very least 3 wins by cutting Osweiler, maybe more. He also stunted Kizer's growth by not having a more seasoned veteran in the QB room.

It isn't MY confirmation bias, it was all over training camp. I don't know if you remember clearly, but SAS and I were leading the Kessler bandwagon going into camp. I WANTED Kessler to be the starter. I think you are mistaken here beach...

So, the Vikings have a bid of $36M for Cousins. Garoppolo will earn $61.2 million over the first two seasons, $48.7M of which is guaranteed at signing. I don't think I did anything to un-ordinary as far as QB contracts are trending. Besides, I set out to get him and didn't make offers for any of the 3 QB's already on the Vikes roster... had to sign someone and the Broncos did all the pushing upward as far as the contract is concerned.

    That's my story... :vik:

Will you are right here. It’s just insane to me what a QB costs at this point. Cousins isn’t a great QB. He is just a guy capable of starting in the NFL. When a mid-tier QB makes that much money it scares me. That’s what 20% of the cap tied up in a single player? He needs to be able to overcome the roster deficiencies that his salary is going to create. And I don’t see how Cousins is going to do that.

I really have to wonder if the league isn’t going to start to shift back to power running offenses to accommodate the new reality. You either spend that money on one of the few QB’s actually worth that kind of money or you invest it in defense and a running game and hope your OC can make Case Kennem or Nick Foles look good. We saw three teams with basically QB2 quality guys playing in conference championship games this year with very good defenses and ground games and in the case of the Eagles and Vikings creative and interesting offenses.

This is why I think Giants fans who don’t want a QB at #2 are crazy. The most valuable thing in the NFL right now is Carson Wentz’s contract. The Eagles have a franchise QB on a rookie deal that is going to let them actually keep talent in place around him until they have to give him a new deal. The price tag on QB’s is just getting stupid high.

JC Irish it's training camp. The season doesn't revolve around what happened in training camp. The Browns were 4-0 in training camp.

This is the NFL. Players compete for playing time week in and week out. Are you really going to try and tell me that any player that didn't perform in training camp should ride the bench all season. That's ridiculous.

  10. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

No, what I'm saying is that it never improved...

  11. beachbum Legend Manager Steelers

    1. You can't possibly know that because...

    2. 3rd QBs almost never see reps when the season starts and...

    3. That's a failure on Hugh's part. He should have demoted Deshone to 3rd string when it was crystal clear he wasn't ready and he couldn't win with him and started giving reps to the other two QBs on the roster.

  12. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

This part I would certainly agree with..except...They demoted him and Hogan went into action and looked worse than Kizer, thus reiterating what they had been seeing in practice, Hogan simply is no where as good as Kizer. To demote him past the guy that is worse than the guy you just determined really isn't near as good as him, well that's the definition of insane.

First off, I am a mod and one of the ones involved in the decision.

    Here is exactly what happened.

    1) You brought it to the attention of Tim, we expect every GM in this exercise to understand what is going on with their team and situations, but certainly don't have time to scour through 32 teams to make sure everyone is doing what they are supposed to be doing. So, you did exactly what you were supposed to by bringing it to the attention of a mod.
    2) You don't have the power to negotiate any type of contract extension in this exercise
    3) Tim started a conversation with LAOJoe to come up with a solution that would suit all parties involved in this exercise. They came up with what amounted to be the solution that was exercised.
    4) They brought me in to get my thoughts before implementing this solution. I did some research and agreed that their solution was the best for all teams involved in the exercise.
    5) We had no time remaining before the "league year" started for this exercise, so they implemented the solution.

    6) You became irritated that you weren't involved in the decision. The problem lies in the fact that there are no negotiating options for contract extensions in this exercise, you don't have the ability to negotiate a contract. WE aren't the player and you are the team. We are simply here to come up with an acceptable option that would make every comfortable.
    7) We should have given you the two options, the problem being, if we had contacted you with the two options the league year would have begun without a solution, which could have allowed another GM to put Drew Brees up for bid on free agency.
    8) After finding out about your opposition to this solution, we offered to pull the solution and go back to the ONLY OTHER OPTION available, which is not re-signing Drew Brees to an extension, thus allowing him to become a free agent AND automatically changing your $6M dead cap to $18M dead cap.

That is where we continue to stand. You have not given us a decision, just continue to complain that you weren't given the choice PRIOR TO the start of the league year. We did it to protect Brees from the free agent frenzy. NOW, if you would like him to go into free agency, we are more than happy to make that change..no harm done. Just let us know.

****Please note...None of what was done changes the fact that when the league year opened at 8:00 am yesterday, the Saints would have lost $12M in cap space at a minimum. The only difference is, they lost the $17.5M extra instead of $12M extra and retained Drew Brees.

I don't understand what you want. They've been having this discussion with you in plain sight for over a day. They changed the rules in your favor and you're still upset for some reason. The only thing that I can think of is that you want to negotiate a different number? How much lower than 23.5M could you possibly envision? It honestly sounds like this entire episode is about a disagreement of like $1M in cap space.

  15. beachbum Legend Manager Steelers

Contracts are contracts. When our league started Brees became a free agent. That's the way it was written and although backgrinder didn't actually create the contract he's playing the role as if he did. You have to live with it. We have never tried to guess at what might happen before when a real life NFL reality put a L4SN owner in a tough spot and after this train wreck I hope we never do it again.

Technically, he was still a Saint until March (rosters freeze on the 6th) with all indicators pointing towards New Orleans and Brees reaching an agreement for approximately $25,000,000.

If we didn't address it (at his request) then the only option was for Brees to be a free agent.

This is something that we need to have a guideline for in the future.

As always, the office door is open for suggestions.

There is a big difference in this exercise though if Drew Brees is a free agent..Is there ANYONE involved in this that thinks there is a chance that Drew Brees becomes a free agent? That is why we asked him if he wants to allow Brees to become one, in this, it is his choice. We merely didn't want it to automatically happen thus, someone jump in and demand an opportunity to bid on him. We can revert back now, but he won't answer if that is ultimately what he wants.

I have a volunteer to take his place so if he does not respond by this evening he will be removed as GM.

Drew Brees is on record saying he'd retire before playing for any other organization....
