The better player is going to play better a majority of the time and over the long haul. You gotta play at least 18 games before you can make the SB...if I’m a GM or coach I trust Wentz a bit more than Foles over the course of a season.

Not that I’m knocking Foles...his career TD to INT ratio is 2 to 1.

But you can’t take just 1 game into account...even when it’s the most important game of the season. Just my opinion.

Eagles have a good problem to have.

 

I'm not so sure about losing one's job because of injury. You guy's got me thinking now... and it kinda hurts.

You definitely have to consider the way the starter was running the show to begin with, but in Wentz' case, I'm not sure he should lose his job to Foles.

This is why HC's make the big bucks.

Acquiring picks for Foles is a nice predicament to be in, but I think the GM has bigger problems this off-season than Foles and Wentz. Their cap is almost full and they got some contracts to restructure, some players to resign and ask some guys for some pay cuts. There will be some unhappy Eagles when it comes to money this fall.

 

Im not basing it on 1 game. He has a season where he threw 27 touchdowns and 2 interception in an offense that is probably not as sound as what the eagles run now. There is the fact he ran over the Vikings to get to the Super Bowl and even though he statistically has one interception I will argue that he went the 3 games in the post season without turning the ball over. Ball security and he can make the throws you need to win. Several of those throws he made in the SB were in tight windows. I may be in the minority but its just MHO you roll with Foles.

 

If he was he isnt on the roster on Pro Fooball Reference Jay Schroeder was on that team but he didnt win a SB other than the one he won with Williams as the starter

 

You play him and you find that out.

 

Plus no 2nd or 3rd round draft picks.

The point is that not just any QB can perform on a big stage. Foles played extremely good in the SB, and he deserves a chance to defend his title. If the Eagles had a different backup QB they probably don't even make it past the Falcons. Wentz hasn't played under post season pressure or even more importantly SB pressure.

 

Then if he (Foles) wants to be a starter, he should sign on with Minny or Denver or Cleveland or the Jets or Arizona. He was the back-up (a well-paid one) for a reason.

Should Jason Peters now be benched because he was injured and didn't play in the Super Bowl? Jordan Hicks should no longer be the starter at LB?

 

I will agree with 1 thing you said Jean - the tight window he made passes in the SB. Some throws were incredible. Don't know if Wentz makes them.

 

I thought bc Minnesota went to the NFC Championship Game, by trading Bradford, the Eagles got a second rd pick now ??

 

Pick COULD have been upgraded to a #2 if the Vikes had won the Super Bowl and Bradford played 80% of the snaps.
