Let's hope the Vikings sign Kirk Cousins and make Teddy Bridgewater the back-up qb and work with him and polish him up cause he did get thrown into mix to soon IMO

I don't think a Manziel and a Zimmer would fit on the same football team.

  6. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

I don't think Manziel any NFL coach would fit on the same continent!

{edit} Yes, I know Canada and the U.S. are on the same continent.

5 Things to Know About New Vikings OL Josh Andrews

    1. A Super Bowl champion

Andrews is a recent Super Bowl champion as he spent time on Philadelphia’s practice squad during the 2017 season. The Eagles scored a 41-33 win over the Patriots in Super Bowl LII on Feb. 4 at U.S. Bank Stadium.

    2. Life as a pro

Andrews joined Philadelphia as an undrafted free agent in the spring of 2014 and has primarily spent time on the practice squad over the past four seasons. He has appeared in 16 career games with one career offensive snap and 70 career snaps on special teams.

    3. College career

The California native made 32 career starts at Oregon State, including the final 30 in a row. He began his career as a center but moved to left guard during his sophomore season with the Beavers.

    4. High school accolades

Andrews played both offensive tackle and guard at Colony High School in Southern California. He was a three-year starter and earned All-Mt. Baldy league and All-CIF Central Division honors three times each.

    5. A fellow Beaver

Andrews joins fellow lineman Mike Remmers as the only two Oregon State players on Minnesota’s roster. The pair were with the football program together from 2009 to 2011. Remmers played right tackle before moving to left guard because of an injury to Nick Easton for the Vikings in 2017, his first season with Minnesota. (Vikings.com)

Report: Vikings will hire former Raiders OC Todd Downing

It appears Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator John DeFilippo is bringing in a little help.

According to Adam Caplan, the Vikings will hire former Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator Todd Downing as senior offensive assistant.

The Eden Prairie native worked with the Vikings from 2001 to 2005, last serving as offensive quality control coach. He served as quarterbacks coach for the Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders before being elevated to OC last season. The Raiders let Downing go after hiring Jon Gruden as their head coach.

    Will Vikings keep Latavius Murray?

The three-year, $15 million contract signed last year by running back Latavius Murray in Minnesota became, on closer inspection, a one-year deal with a team option for each of the next two. Before March 16, the Vikings have to decide whether to keep Murray around for year two.

That’s the day his $5.15 million salary for 2018 becomes fully guaranteed, triggering a $6.35 million cap number. Cutting Murray before then results in a cap hit of $1.2 million, with the ability to split the dead money over two years if the move is designated as a post-June 1 release.

So what will the Vikings do? New offensive coordinator John DeFilippo arrives from an Eagles team that had multiple options at tailback. With Jerick McKinnon headed for free agency, the Vikings may need Murray as the primary alternative to Dalvin Cook, who tore an ACL in Week Four.

McKinnon has said he wants to be “the guy,” and he won’t be the guy in Minnesota if Cook is healthy. Still, if the Vikings are considering paying $5.15 million to Murray, they need to ask whether all or part of that money would be better spent on McKinnon.

Either way, the Vikings should try to keep of the two veteran options as the primary complement to Cook, especially as he recovers from that knee injury. The Vikings then could complete the depth chart by adding another guy through the draft.

Murray had 842 rushing yards in his first season with the Vikings. A lingering ankle problem (about which the Vikings may or may not have fully known when signing him, which could be a factor in the decision on whether to keep him) caused Murray to start slowly; through six weeks, he had no more than 31 yards in any game. In Week Seven, he finally generated more than 100 yards.

But Murray didn’t do much in the playoffs, gaining only 50 yards against the Saints and 18 against the Eagles. His upright running style coupled with an apparent reluctance or inability to blast through the hole resulted in plenty of short gains/no gains/short losses, and a per-carry average for the season of less four yards. (He averaged 2.72 yards per carry in the postseason.)

DeFilippo told Paul Allen of KFAN last week that the Eagles enjoyed “diversity” at the tailback position, and McKinnon would seem to be the better option to give the Vikings a dynamic complement to Cook. With the ability to find elsewhere a between-the-tackles downhill runner (LeGarrette Blount will be available), the Vikings should consider reallocating Murray’s 2018 compensation to McKinnon (if they can persuade him that his best option is to stay) and whoever else they can add to the mix.

Looking at the running back market generally and Murray’s overall production in 2017 specifically, it’s hard to justify devoting so much money to a player who didn’t separate himself from the revolving door of tailback options that constantly is available to every team through free agency and the draft. Thus, the best move may indeed be to move on. (PFT)

Brown didn't become a full time starter until his 3rd season, so these comparisons don't mean much.

Only 2 different in games played tho, but i'll give ya the starters thing. Bottom-line, 2 pretty good receivers.

I would let Murray test the free market cause he was not the rb I thought he would be I'm pretty sure there are much better rb's,and Vikings do what you can to keep Jerick McKinnon can Case Keenum do it again I highly doubt it He's A Back-up QB

  17. Badd_Man1 M.V.P. Vikings

What's the back-up plan if the Vikings don't sign Kirk Cousins putting all the eggs in one basket huh,i couldn't take another BoneHeaded Tricky Ricky move why can't they be elite yeah there good very good but not elite

I'm wondering the same thing. Keenum is a FA and Bridgewater too and his contract will not toll over because of the injury. They are in a crazy predicament.

It is crazy looks like there opening the door for Kyle Sloter with this qb dump...its just crazy hard to understand this

  20. Willie Head Coach Manager News & Notes Vikings

Speilman talked a whole bunch at the combine and said just about nothing. One thing that's for sure is the Vikings up to this point have not made a decision at QB yet. That doesn't mean they arnt working or lost , but that they are being deliberately vague.

One thing Speilman said was that after the next few days at the Combine things could become more clear.

This is a huge decision on who's going to run this football team not just next year, but a few years down the road. Minnesota is set up to win the SB now and they want to make sure they do the right thing. It sure looks tricky tho.
