Where Do We Go From Here?

I read a rumor that he doesn't want to play in the AFC East, West or North.

I'm guessing he is looking for an easier path to the playoffs, and the South would still be on the table because of Jacksonville.

  2. Impending free agent Kirk Cousins implied he'd have interest in signing with the Broncos this offseason.

"I'm going to keep my eyes and ears open to anything and everything. I’m in the information-gathering stage," said Cousins. When asked specifically about the Broncos, Cousins said he'd "love it if Denver is interested." Von Miller and C.J. Anderson have both advocated for Cousins to join the Broncos, who have been plagued by subpar quarterback play the last few seasons. With the Redskins now committed to Alex Smith, Cousins should have no shortage of suitors on the open market. The Broncos, Browns, Cardinals, Jaguars, Jets and Vikings will all be in the mix.

He also said he wanted to stay in Washington. :)

I'm just posting something that I read, and it makes some sense. If he's looking for an easier path to the playoffs then there are going to be certain divisions that are more appealing. The AFC South would probably be at the top of that list, so long as Jacksonville is the landing spot.

And that same rumor included that he does not want to play in the NFC, which would again make sense if he is trying to find a team that gives him a better path to the playoffs. All of the potential suitors in that conference would put him up against superior opponents.

If all of that is true....

If he doesn't want a challenge, then I really don't want him. Need more than a paycheck QB...

The more I consider going all in for Cousins, the more I think that might be a mistake...

But I still don't think he'd truly consider signing with the Browns anyway....He's made the "winning is most important" comment 100 times this week. Dude isn't considering the Browns...and that might be a blessing.

  7. Man like I told SAS....what are you, him and Irish gonna do when they dont take Mayfield....how can you take a 6 ft QB #1 in the NFL draft...thats like taking Donnel Pumphrey #1

  8. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

    He's 6'-3/8" dammit!!

Again, I don't care if he was 5'-11"...if they are determined to take a QB #1 overall, it better damn we'll be the best one in the draft class...and no one comes close to Mayfield...

Tim's numbers be damned, the proof is in the eye test on this one.
His stats tell a story, his teammates tell a story, his enthusiasm tells a story, hell his STORY tells a story. All of that information adds up to him being the most dynamic QB available...2-4" of height does not make the OTHER QBs better than shorty. It may be a disadvantage to Baker in the NFL, but it doesn't HELP the other QBs case for being #1 overall. He's the best QB and it isn't close.

Thus....if you are determined to take one #1 overall, well damnit take he best one!

According to Tim's sources it's a 1-team list with Jacksonville lol

    Tim's sources, eh? :bet:

Then perhaps we need to look for a veteran QB somewhere else, cuz NONE of us wants to go swimming with Hue wearing concrete flippers!

Absolutely. How many times have we seen GM's fall in love with the "prototype" guy that can't play QB for crap? Baker Mayfield walked on at Oklahoma, took the job, and has been firmly entrenched among the nations very best QB's for three years straight. All on the big stage. His teammates believe, and his coaches believe. Those guys will jump in front of a bus for this kid. His work ethic and preparation are legendary. He's a leader. I could care less about his arrest. He has proven that to be a one time thing, and not a pattern of behavior. His passion on the football field is obvious. His accuracy and ability to throw a catchable ball so the receiver can do further damage is second to none. He understands how to move in the pocket and find those throwing lanes.

In my mind, there's plenty of reasons to believe Baker Mayfield can be a great NFL QB....I felt that way about Drew Brees when he came out of Purdue. I felt that way about Russell Wilson coming out of Wisconsin. If you can get a QB as good as either of those two, you take him with the #1 pick. I see no reason why Mayfield couldn't be even better... Yeah, I was wrong about Johnny. Didn't realize how many demons he had. Obviously had I known about all is addiction issues, I'd have never advocated for him. That's why I hate the Johnny comparison's in regards to Mayfield. I don't think it's fair to compare anybody to Johnny, but I understand it. Hopefully it makes that chip on Mayfield's shoulder even bigger....

lol, no sources, just an interesting rumor that was passed on.

If it's source material, I likely don't share it publicly unless enough time has passed or my private reference can verify.

  14. You can't pass up 6'4 QBs that sit in the pocket and throw the balls that Darnold and Rosen throw....you can say whatever about eye test but the eye test should b the 2nd half vs Georg....Smart adjusted and he had no clue what to do...holding the ball, throwing inaccurate, taking sacks and throwing a horrible Int that was 10 ft over the WRs head....NOBODY is considering Mayfield w the #1 pick so I'm not sure what you guys keep harping on him going #1....my guess is he goes #3 behind Darnold and Rosen but that will also depend on where Cousins ends up

LMAO, here we go again with the EXTENSIVE scout work of the professional coach, showstopper...he works tirelessly to watch 2 entire quarters of play in order to decipher a players future in the NFL...Hands down, you work harder at your craft than anyone I have ever met, well done, my friend...well done!

    {Sarcasm off}
    Stopper...It's now February

That means the talking heads who have pretended to do research before the Super Bowl, actually start doing research.

Now, I will admit, there will be people that dismiss him immediately because of his height. However, there will be plenty of those that start to realize his talent is beyond the rest of the field. He will be placed in the same category as a possible #1 overall pick. The traditionalist that John Dorsey is, could fit into that passover group. I hope they give him a chance, but in the end, it wouldn't surprise me if you are right about the Browns with Dorsey making the picks.

None of that changes my viewpoint on him. My posts are what I would do, not necessarily what I think the traditionalist will do.

And you ask, what will we do when he isn't the pick? Hope for the best. WHOMEVER is chosen, are then Browns and I always want every Brown to be the best in the league at what they do.

Until that name is announced, I will hope that it will be Baker Mayfield.

  16. Yep those 2 quarters mean a lot more than playing Kansas, Okla St, WV, etc...I said many times Watson played at his best vs Bama n b2b yrs and made a name for himself...Mayfield on the other hand had a big lead and 2 OT periods and failed in those situations

  17. Sounds like a lot of indians but who is the chief....makes no sense

I believe it is clear, John Dorsey is the chief. I don't think there are any skewed lines on that. However, having all that input can't do anything but help.

    GET IT RIGHT!!

  19. Disagree too much input makes it a mess...Dorsey likes Darnold, this new guy likes Mayfield and Hue likes Rosen...now what

A healthy debate, no way is ONE guy that likes ONE guy going to make the right decision every time. Make the points and then make an educated choice.
