Dorsey's drafting track record is pretty darn good. Cleveland should be in much better position to cash in on those picks now.

Just for the record, I never said Cousins in particular... Catfish was quoted and Jeanquev commented on his post.

I simply stated that what they need is a QB...

As some have brought out the position or competitiveness of Cleveland and how far away they are...some of you are basing this on their record. The record doesn't paint the total picture, in my opinion. The Browns already are competitive and have been real close this past season to winning a football game or two. I don't believe the record tells the whole story as to where Cleveland is. I think, and this is just another personal opinion, they are on track to do good things soon and a 'good' QB will take them over the top... maybe a 4 to 6 win season to start. At least with a solid arm they would have a solid foundation to build on and that's all they or anybody rebuilding could ask for.

I still don't personally think a seasoned, veteran QB, is looking at the Browns record in determining whether to play there or not. Considerations are based on a myriad of things. You all know what talks and what walks, lol.

I can't believe Cleveland is only give Kizer 1 season to prove himself as a starting QB? Wow. That seems a bit unfair.

Adding Kirk Cousins, to a solid "john Dorsey led draft, with a slew of premium picks, would make the Browns playoff contenders overnight. They aren't as far away from competing as 1-31 would indicate, but believe me, I understand the pessimism. And because of our history, it's admitedly a tough sell for Cousins. We certainly have the money and cap room. If Kirk was serious about taking the Browns serious, and he believes in the skills of John Dorsey, I think there's reason for optimism. Sashi wasn't great at making selections, but he sure was skilled at cap management and acquiring draft picks. I'm just telling ya right now, NO team in the NFL would have won games with Kizer under center this past season. He was the worst I've seen, and we had nothing behind him either. It was the most ridiculous plan at QB ever attempted in the NFL. Thus a new FO... Any good NFL QB could have had the 2017 Browns at 6 wins pretty easily...I don't know who posted our offensive talent but they forgot to mention we have a pretty solid offensive line, and we have a young up and coming stud at TE just waiting for somebody to get the ball to him. I'm just sayin, we're more than just Gordon and Duke....Cleveland has some nice pieces in place. I don't know if it will be enough to get captain Kirk, be if Cleveland did somehow pull that off, they would be right in the hunt. And Crow wouldn't be behind him. It would be Saquon Barkley....

    OC Todd Haley
    QB Kirk Cousins
    RB Saquon Barkley
    RB Duke Johnson
    WR Josh Gordon
    WR Corey Coleman
    DRAFT WR Courtland Sutton
    DRAFT OT Connor Williams
F/A WR Terrelle Pryor (he wants to come back, and I think Browns would welcome him)
    TE David Njoku

^^^ That could easily happen if Cousins signed. Why wouldn't that put Cleveland right in the hunt?

  5. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

Look . . . I get it. The Browns, since their reboot, have been historically bad. Two winning seasons with one playoff appearance over that time frame is the definition of historically bad. But I haved lived through 70 NFL seasons and have some experience in watching historically bad teams turn into contenders overnight and they all did it without the assets this Browns team has at their diposal.

Yes, without a doubt, the Browns have drafted poorly over the past 20 years. Yes, they had an owner (Randy Lerner) who couldn't care less about the team he owned for half of those 20 years. And, yes, they had General Managers who all thought they were smarter than the rest of the NFL.

But NONE of those conditions exist today. They do have a solid core group of players on which to build (about the only good thing Sashi Brown did.) They have only two notable free agents in 2018 and both of those can be replaced and upgraded in the draft. They also have an up and coming defense that needs only some help in the secondary. And it just so happens that picks #1 and #4 can yield both a RB and a DB.

So, as Irish already outlined, the key is aquiring a talented - and - experienced QB. If that happens, along with some help at WR, the Browns could very well surprise a lot of people this season.

If you watched him for an entire season . . . you would understand. What was unfair was forcing Browns fans to do just that.

LYMAN-The Browns threw a rookie into the lions den of the NFL in his first season when he probably didn't think he was going to compete. how fair is that to him? Look Carson Wentz got thrown into the lions den and started 3-0 and then reality sat in and he lost what 7, 8, 9 games in a row ? Then he was up for MVP this year until he blew out his knee with 2 full tears.

I said bf Kizer should've stayed at ND for 1 more season but he left. I think he needed more seasoning and apparently it showed. But how is this his fault ? He's a 20-21 yr old who should be in college, not facing NFL linemen. I think if he had a chance, he would get better. It took time for C. Wentz to get better. Peyton Manning started what 1-15 ? Aikman started 1-15 or 2-14? Both won SB and both will be in the HOF once Manning gets in. Kizer isn't these guys, but given the circumstances, he deserves another chance at QB.

Have the Browns declared they are giving up on Kizer? No. He is going to the observation and developmental phase of his career, which obviously should have happened last year. But they haven't kicked him to the curb yet. The problem was, as I mentioned above, we didn't have anything behind him, so he was forced to play when he had no business being out there. An absurd plan that got Sashi Brown fired...Ideally, our new GM will have more sense.

but if they get Cousins, he will just be a perennial backup with little to no chance to be the starter in Cleveland. Isn't that notion bad for his development too down the road ?

Not every QB can be a starter catfish. Every team has at least 2 on their roster and a lot of teams have 3. That means 2/3 QBs are backups. Why are you worried about Kizers development? He isn't even good enough to be the Browns starter.

  11. TopDawg Legend

You can't look at anything Kizer does and say he belongs in an NFL game right now. That's the bottom line. If Kizer developes into something, it will show in practice and in preseason games if nothing else...If he ascends to challenge Cousins for the starting job, good for the Browns.

Its a Notre Dame thing. Gold Dome homies.

I think he got a raw deal his first year and now with Cousins in play, he may never see the field for years.

He should have stayed at least one more year....

  16. Catfish Guest

he needed to stay at ND for another year. that would've been better than being a QB in the mistake by the lake and go winless.

And it's Lyman's comments about him being unwatchable like it was all his fault. that's why I don't like it. his skill level vs the NFL in year 1 was not ready, so what the hell do you expect ?

  17. TopDawg Legend

Well it was unwatchable...The guy who drafted him got fired...What do you want Cleveland to do? Since we picked him, we've made several attempts to replace him (Garroppollo, McCarron, Alex Smith)

Deshone Kizer belongs on the bench. Everyone knows it. That's not the Browns' fault. That's just a fact...

And I wouldn't call being a highly paid back-up QB in the NFL a "raw deal" either...If he's good enough to start, he'll start. That's the NFL....

I don't disagree but I really dislike ND in any capacity. They're also ranked 4th on the Firehalo Personal Party Experience for the schools in IN... out of 4. I was only in Indiana for a year, so I was doing other shit too. Anyway, in order:
    1. Purdue
    2. Ball State
    3. Indiana
    4. Notre Dame
