agreed...Alex Smith arguably just had his best season at 34....

In the right situation, there's no reason to think Cousins couldn't get better and better...

Well we've had this conversation before. I don't believe, under ANY circumstance, would the Browns go all in on Kirk Cousins, and then turn around a month later and spend a top 5 NFL draft pick on a QB....But if you want to speculate that could happen, that's your call... In my mind, that will NEVER happen, and I'm as positive about that as the sun rising in the east...

I have to agree. It's either Kirk Cousins OR a rookie at #1. I don't even think they play around and wait until #4.

But if it's Cousins, then they are invested in the future and they will be putting other players around him to succeed. I don't think they would sign him, then draft a QB at #1 or #4, hoping he doesn't play for 5 years.

BUT, they are also committed to finding a QB, so who the hell knows...

I think Kizer is your project if Cousins is signed...

As much as I like Mayfield, I agree with Irish. If Cousins comes, they're not drafting a QB 1 or 4. Maybe in the second round again. What if we did something akin to Minnesota last year? They had 3 QBs all with starting experience. What if we went into the season with Cousins, Bradford, Kizer? Get a couple of veterans around Kizer to help him develop. This way even if Cousins does not want that role, you still get a massive upgrade at starter, and in theory you will both have a good mentor and also not have to worry as much about Kizer being on the field.

If Cousins goes down, Bradford won't be far behind. He's almost as worthless as Kizer. Then its Deja Vu all over again.

Except Kizer would then have not one veteran, but two veterans pulling for him. As much as Cousins wouldn't be a teacher as a starter...if he went down to injury, I believe he would be in the forefront to help the youngster out...As well as Bradford...2017, Kizer had Hue Jackson...that's it. And Jackson was supposed to be developing an entire offense AND learning how to be a HC at the same time. Disaster...

(edit) I can't see us spending that kind of money on TWO veteran QBs though...

Kizer could have the entire QB wing at Canton as mentors and it wouldn't make any difference. Let me put this into perspective:

    Manziel > Kizer

  11. Bradford wants to compete for a job not sit behind possibly the highest paid player(Cousins) in football which is a complete joke btw if that happens

Then Bradford needs to figure out how to compete on crutches.

Agreed. Perhaps he has another good game or two left in him, but he wouldn't come cheap, and I don't trust those knees at all...Pass on Sam Bradford.

Tough to argue too much with this mock draft. @showstopper should be happy, at least.

    Re: Quarterbacks for a second...

I can't recall how many times we've heard "so-and-so would relish the chance to turn this team around" but you just had Alex Smith and Kirk Cousins both say they want to go somewhere where they can win - not be part of a turn-around.

I feel like "turn the team around" is a talking point only for rookies.

Yeah, that's a lot of Cross talk...

The Broncos won 5 games with arguably (well, actually it isn't all that arguable) better QBs last year....how exactly are they NOT a "turn around" team? In order to sign Cousins they need to move at least one (sounds like a wideout) key piece to their team to clear cap space. Can they find the money? Yes, but it means players taking less, or pushing money into the future which eventually comes to a head and/or losing talented players to do it.

Obviously, it is hypothetical until the players are actually in place, but the Browns have more of an opportunity than any team in history to add more talent in a single off season.

That would get wasted with a rookie starting at QB...
