I'm not anti-Cousins...I just don't think there's a chance in hell that he seriously considers Cleveland. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Well I posted the odds on Alex Smith yesterday and he went to the team that was considered the longest shot at Bovada Sportsbook...

    So here's more:
Kirk Cousins betting odds, per Bovada:
    Jets: 8/5
    Broncos: 7/4
    Cardinals: 4/1
    Browns: 5/1
    Bills: 9/1
    Giants 14/1
    Jags 14/1
    Dolphins 20/1

The Jets are considered the favorites, followed closely by Denver....

Are we drafting a team or a player?

Because Nick Foles had more wins than Smith AND is playing in the Super Bowl...he might be available for trade after this game on Sunday.

For that matter, let's try to get Chase Daniel because he won 11 games last year, he must be better than Alex Smith who only won 10.

Team wins do NOT dictate whether a single player is better than another one playing his position...I need to just give up on this, because SAS has you all so brain washed that you can't see reality. I'm dumbfounded.

lol! Wow, you really love Cousins...

Irish, many of us, including you I believe, have compared Mayfield to Drew Brees and Russel Wilson. So if that's what somebody believes, that Mayfield can be that good, it's not so crazy to think the Baker Mayfield/VETERAN QB route might be a better way to go than throwing everything at Cousins..

Cousins has never won shit...Maybe, one of these young prospects IS better. I'm sure that's weighing on the minds of our FO right now. It's not THAT far fetched. You may be ready to enshrine Cousins in Canton, but nobody else is.

Gimme a break. What are we, just a bunch shlepps that are only aloud to follow you or SAS??? Get off your high horse. Nobody is brainwashed Irish....You are just upset that everybody hasn't agreed with you that we should go all in and do whatever it takes for Cousins.

Yes, I think you just debunked your evaluation of Bovada with Alex Smith...

No one knows, we can talk till we are blue in the face. Too many factors are involved with multiple teams. Trades are a whole other issue when deciding what the player can do for your direct competition.

Free agency, you take that out of the equation.

The difference between a 0 win team, a 5 win team is the QB, I don't deny that. With Josh McCown healthy, the Browns could have won 5 games. Keep Brock Osweiler instead of throwing Kizer to the wolves and they probably win 4-5 games. This same roster with Drew Brees at QB they probably win 10 games...with Kirk Cousins, they win 7-9 imho.

It isn't going to come down to 0-31 in the end...it will come down to whether or not the Browns can convince him of the plan moving forward and how he can change the history of this franchise.

What? I didn't evaluate Bovada...Bovada is Bovada. They put out the odds, and I posted them.

I like the fact there is a franchise caliber QB available on the free agent market, it NEVER happens...and we just so happen to be in the driver's seat as far as assets are concerned to convince that player to come to Cleveland.

I love Baker Mayfield...here's the thing...The experts who get paid to have an opinion say he is the 3rd/4th best QB in this class...He isn't going #1 overall, probably somewhere around where Watson went last year. So, are you taking the same stance if this is the result:

    Chase Daniel/Sam Darnold?
    Chase Daniel/Josh Rosen?

Those are more likely scenarios at #1 overall, I DON'T like either of those options...thus my first, and best, option of Kirk Cousins is what I still want to go with.

None of these rookies have won shit either...in fact Rosen has won less than shit in his college career.

I'm not enshrining ANYONE, I am vesting the best case scenario for a winning franchise. That is Kirk Cousins.

There is a "good" chance actually one of these rookies will become better than Kirk Cousins...I don't deny that either. However, there is only a 20% chance, at best, you choose the one that is at #1 overall.

You know what Cousins is...he's a Top Ten QB every year he has started. When you take a 3 year average, he is a top 5 QB...In the entire NFL. I don't know how passing on a guy who has averaged out to a top 5 QB would be considered a worse plan than taking a flyer on a rookie...one that NO ONE is convinced is the best in his class, should be the #1 overall pick, or that should start any time soon in the NFL.

A consensus player that would be a no doubt #1 overall, that teams would be trading 3 first round draft picks to get the right to draft, Yeah, I'm all over that guy...The one we are hoping becomes a Brown, most likely isn't considered a top 10 draft pick...That worries me.

You used them as a source...I could use Stopper as a source, but it doesn't make it a wise one.

Quote from John Dorsey, "When it comes to QB's, it's really about winning. Was he able to win games?"

    It's the #1 on-line betting site...lol!

No offense to stopper, but that was really weak Irish....

Good. I'm glad you can see that. Therefore you shouldn't be so dumbfounded or flabbergasted or bewildered or whatever just because everyone isn't 100% on the Kirk Cousins or bust train....We do sit with the #1 and #4 pick of a draft that many are calling the best QB draft since Ben, Eli and Phillip entered the league. So the notion that we might consider taking one shouldn't be so puzzling.

He won 7 more games than the Browns, with a worse roster according to SAS stat references...So, yeah, with the roster he was dealt, he won games.

  15. If you pay Cousins all that matter what happens when guys like Ogbah, Nassib, Coleman, Coleman, Duke, Kindred, Gordon(if hes stays clean), etc need new contracts....you gonna let them walk?

Im no contract expert, but couldn't they front load the contract since they have 111 mill in cap space? Thus alleviating and strain in the future?

I'm flabbergasted because you have an intelligent piece of viable information on a REAL PROFESSIONAL QB, who has proven, not once, but three straight seasons that he is one of the best QBs in the NFL.

You are falling on the "hope" that THE PICK you make becomes the one QB that is better than that tangible one available in free agency.

For the record...Kirk Cousins has been statistically better than Ben and Eli, Philip is in a league all his own as far as great QBs that has never won because of his roster, he's getting close to Dan Marino's atmosphere.

Would you take a Philip Rivers in his prime? Yeah, I would too...I'm not saying Kirk Cousins is Philip Rivers, I'm saying it is EXTREMELY rare that a talent of his magnitude is available other than being the lucky recipient in the draft. This draft class may, or may not, have a player that will eventually become someone the caliber of Kirk Cousins...even if it does, we have no way of knowing ahead of time which player that is. We would need to very lucky to guess which one that is, at the end of the day, it is a guess. With Cousins it isn't guessing, it's knowing what and who he is.

I've said many times I'd be extremely happy if we signed Cousins. But I always have that hint of reservation because I know that would mean we are passing on the first round QB's in the upcoming draft...I don't doubt our FO is examining all options as we speak.

Somebody mentioned that maybe some folks don't want to get on the Cousins bandwagon, because they fear inevitable disappointment coming when it doesn't happen. I'd say there is a lot of truth to that...

  19. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

Not all of them...but I can say with a straight face, it's a HELLUVA lot easier to replace any one or four of those players, than it is a top ten QB...Without that top ten QB, NONE of those players win a playoff game...It's that simple.

With the QB, you always are in contention...The Redskins missed the playoffs by 3 games with a roster that was worse than the Browns 0-16 team...What can he do with the current assets, spending another $30M on top tier free agents and hitting on 50% of the top three rounds of the draft? I would really like to see what a team built around Kirk Cousins looks like. Without Cousins, you are in win in 2019 mode and that isn't something I really want to think about until Cousins is off the market.

    You really do like that!

I'm gonna go full Belichick on that one and remind everyone that "stats are for losers"....Cousins is nowhere near Marino's atmosphere.
