If you disagree on the player, that's one thing. But if you didn't know Alex Smith had been traded and the headline instead read: "Cleveland trades Joe Schobert and a third round pick for Tyrod Taylor" who is mad at that deal (besides Buffalo fans).
I'm okay with going after Taylor. I still feel that if we were to sign Cousins, than we would pass on the top QB prospects. Not sure if I want to do that....Maybe Taylor/Mayfield would be a better route than simply going all in for Cousins...
I'm okay with going after Taylor. I still feel that if we were to sign Cousins, than we would pass on the top QB prospects. Not sure if I want to do that....Maybe Taylor/Mayfield would be a better route than simply going all in for Cousins... He's already turned down one that averaged $25M in Washington...
I think people over value draft picks....Wash getting Smith for a 3rd round pick is a steal....I could care less bout 3rd rounds picks if Im getting a proven vet of that caliber....Fuller I dont know much about
Tyrod's three season average with an equally-maligned roster and front office who's been non-committal towards him: 92.5 QB rating, 62.6% completion, 3,477 total yards, 22 total touchdowns, 5 interceptions Cousins attempting 563 passes over the past three years, whereas Tyrod is attempting 412 passes (-151).
Really, you are throwing out 4,000 yard passers like they are candy and skating away from the question...who averaged 4,000 yards and 25 TDs over the past 3 years... Who the "F" cares about Carson Palmer, he is done...Who cares about Jay Cutler, he is done. Would you have taken Carson Palmer in his prime? Of course, not when he's 40... Here's your answer: 3 year averages: Drew Brees 4804 yards, 30.6 TDs Philip Rivers 4564 yards, 30 TDs Matt Ryan 4543 yards, 26.3 TDs Kirk Cousins 4392 yards, 27 TDs Matthew Stafford 4335 yards, 28.3 TDs Tom Brady 4300 yards, 32 TDs Russell Wilson 4075 yards, 29.6 TDs Yep, that's it...only 7 QBs...Now I will add an 8th, because he was on IR this year: **Aaron Rodgers 4124 yards, 35 TDs (two year average) So, he was 4th on the list of 8 QBs that has accomplished that... Taking JUST TDs into consideration on this list he is 7th, ahead of only Matt Ryan...but STILL not "average in the league". This statement is pure idiocy... TD, Here is Alex Smith's 3 year average, 3676 yards, 20.3 TDs In what universe is that BETTER than Cousins? Don't tell me that the Redskins roster, whom I've already shown using SAS's stats, is worse than the Browns roster...is better than any of these other teams roster's, especially the Chiefs.0 Cousins was a one man show in Washington, yet still excelled. This debate is ridiculous. There is no argument for Cousins not being the absolute best option for this team moving forward...NONE Now, I understand that argument is slim due to the Browns circumstances and you all just don't want to get your hopes and dreams dashed once again...but to say he isn't the best option, I simply don't have any other words. That is pure idiocy. Now you take Alex Smith who just signed an extension worth $23.5M per year, that's just $1.06M per TD he averages...So you are telling me that $1.06M per TD isn't a NFL worthy contract? For Cousins, that means $28.6M per year...which ironically is around where everyone is putting his price (between $25-30M per). Now we get back to my last point...guaranteed money...I said guarantee 70%, Smith just got 75% guaranteed, so bump it ump to 75% and I don't believe you would have any contenders for contract amount. At that point, it boils down to selling your franchise.
*couldn't care less. If you COULD care less, then you would care less. Please don't bust out "irregardless", I will punch my monitor.
OH MY GOD!!! I am talking to walls... I'm not sure why I'm so hyped up this morning, but I feel like I am stuck in an episode of Twilight Zone. I am talking about FIXING the roster, so that you don't go 3-13...what the fuck are you talking about?????? 3-13 is what you get if you employ Chase Daniel or Tyrod Taylor and decide to wish a rookie into a franchise player, which we all know is a long shot. Look, if the rookie were guaranteed, we wouldn't be talking about this at all...It's just not reality! there is about a 25% chance that the rookie ends up as good as Cousins, which we all agree isn't the best in the League, but he is definitely in the top 10. There is a 75% chance we are looking for another QB in the 2021 draft, because this one didn't pan out. Now, add to the mystery that is..."which one do I pick at #1?" There isn't a consensus on the best QB, the one that SAS and myself are enamored with, Baker Mayfield is heavily regarded as the 4th best in many circles, again, I think that is ludicrous as well, but there you go with how difficult it is to evaluate an amateur athlete. YET, many on these boards would try to talk you into the fact that signing/trading for what REALLY IS an average at best QB, to groom an unknown quantity is an absolute better option than signing a guy that has averaged 4,400 yards and 27 TDs over his 3 year starting career? I'm sorry, this is the Twilight Zone....I don't know how to get out of it....carry on
How many if they draft Mayfield? How many if they draft Rosen? How many if they sign Daniel? How many if they sign Aaron Rodgers? Who the hell knows? The point isn't guarantees, it's setting your team up with the "Best Possible Environment To Win"! It takes a team. Not a Player..But, putting the best players THAT ARE AVAILABLE on that team will give you a better chance at wins. I simply don't understand how this is something that needs explained. How many teams that draft a QB #1 overall go on to win multiple Super Bowls with That QB?
I'm asking cause you said they didn't want to trade Smith here cause he may beat them...it was a simple question....I'm saying 5 w Smith and 3-4 w Cousins
Eli Manning did it with the Giants (2) Troy Aikman did it with the Cowboys (3) John Elway did it with the Broncos (2) Terry Bradshaw did it with the Steelers (4) TWENTY TWO QBS have been drafted #1 overall in the draft in the Super Bowl era...only 4 have won multiple Super Bowls with their drafting team. One more did it with two teams, Peyton Manning (2) Only other #1 to win a Super Bowl with his drafting team is Drew Bledsoe with the Patriots....and he didn't play in the game, Tom Brady did... So, out of 22 tries, only 6 teams have won a Super Bowl drafting a QB #1 overall...
Ok, with the current roster, which I have already shown using SAS stat values is better than the Redskins roster, Cousins should win at least 7 (since that is what he won with an inferior roster in Washington)... I don't have the same statistics for the Chiefs, so I can't speak to Smith... However, ONCE AGAIN {face turning blue} I am not talking about adding a QB to the current roster... I am talking about improving the roster as a whole... Am I on Candid Camera??? Where's Alan Funt? I guess I would only see him in the Twilight Zone...
Peyton Manning was drafted #1 overall. So, your original list is shy one QB. And . . . If you count how many Super Bowls were won instead of how many teams, the number becomes 12 out of 22.
Nope, I had Peyton Manning the next couple lines down...He didn't win multiple with the Colts, he won his second with the Broncos. And... not to be a stickler, but again...NO, it isn't 12 out of 22, it's 12 out of 52, since #52 does not have a #1 QB playing in it either... So, 23% chance your #1 pick gets you to a Super Bowl... However, when you look at the BIGGEST picture... Only 5 #1 overall drafted QBs have won a Super Bowl. There have been 52 drafts since the Super Bowl Era began, so you actually have about a 10% chance of winning a Super Bowl by drafting a QB #1 overall. I don't think ANYONE will argue that the 70's Steelers and the 90's Cowboys wasn't a culmination of great rosters that helped their Super Bowl winning QBs either... In fact, I don't think any of those 5 would have won the Super Bowl with the Browns current roster...but I do believe some of them could have gotten them to the playoffs...as I also believe Kirk Cousins can do with the help I expect Dorsey to put around him.
