Thats the problem....its not their money so they just want to pay this huge price for this guy or that guy....Cousins isnt worth being the highest paid player in the game....I dont care bout economics or whatever it is....offer him a fair contract in the 10-15 range of QBs and if he accepts so be it.....thats why sports is becoming a joke cause guys that are avg are making a ton of $$$...Im sorry but Cousins being the highest paid player in the NFL is absolutely embarrassing

Terrelle Pryor has already stated he wants to come back to Cleveland and they reportedly tried to trade for him at the deadline. He is also a receiver whom Cousins has become familiar with last season... The 4th...Pretty simple, you own the #1 overall pick, if you want him, he is yours... This isn't rocket science, with the promise of Saquon Barkley, talking to agents for both players, they could easily do the, if you go I will trick, considering the Browns will most likely also be offering the highest amount of money. This team can be sold to free agents, despite a 1-31 record. There are VERY FEW players that play in Cleveland and do not like playing in Cleveland. Most want to stay here...Alex Mack and Tashon Gipson being the exceptions. Not to mention egos of professional sports players, "What if we turned this team around? We would be legends!" And they would....
I understand all that, but you cant just assume and make up a roster and say its better than Denver's is the point....what if they want Landry, draft Ridley and now their WR group is loaded....they already have a sound playoff type defense
That's not in essence what I meant, that is worst case scenario...What they do have is Cleveland on their 2018 schedule, away...and Washington is not on their schedule at all. It is a very real possibility that with Alex Smith at the helm and Dorsey spending the majority of the $111M, along with 6 draft picks in the top 65, that the Browns would be in position to beat them on the road. Fans would be up in arms, especially if Mahomes doesn't come out of the gate quickly.

You have Terrelle Pryor who already said he wants to come back to Cleveland and apparently the feeling is mutual with the reported trade offer to Washington. You have the #1 overall draft pick, so Saquon Barkley would be a lock if you are dangling him to Cousins in order to sign him... So the only other piece would be Jarvis Landry...again, if you want him, you can get him with a genuine contract offer and the promise of Cousins. This would have to be orchestrated in unison during the legal tampering week prior to free agency. Putting that lineup together would be a coup of epic proportions and one that Todd Haley could win with. At the same time, it is very realistic. In fact, you wouldn't have to spend a single free agent signing on any other offensive guy, as long as you were committed to finding an offensive tackle at the top of the second round. Ideally, you sign Kirk Cousins, Jarvis Landry, Terrelle Pryor and Nate Solder. That would take up about $60M of your available $111M in cap space. Then you take Saquon Barkley and focus in tightly on the defense the rest of the way of the draft.

Irish, i love the optimism. I wish I could believe that was the case.... You saw the quotes from Cousins on the Mike Florio show I posted above, right? I'm sorry but 1-31 is impossible for these players to look away from. That's the main reason I'm baffled at the decision to keep Hue Jackson here...It's an inescapable stigma tattooed all over the organization. Cousins said he "will make sacrifices" to find the best spot to win games. No translation needed. He might as well have said, "settle down Browns fans, it's not happening"... We are still stuck with Hue, and the human brain is incapable of putting Browns football and winning in the same realm, no matter how many draft picks we have. We could probably land a few of the others we've discussed, but I don't think we are gonna get the big fish many of us were hoping for....Our best shot at that is headed to DC. At least we tried.
This is a team that blamed the 1-31 on the roster as a whole, in reality, that could very well be the case. Just because we can point to a bakers dozen players that can be starters for other teams, doesn't mean that A LOT could have been done on the rest of the roster to make them a team that had a chance to win. Some of the gaffs that were made on offense by Hue Jackson just went away with the hiring of Todd Haley. Yes, 1-31 is looming, but so is the potential this off season to fix what was terribly wrong and turn an 0-16 team into a playoff contender. If they can get a sit down with Kirk Cousins, it could be explained...Despite all of these reports from yesterdays interviews, this was also said just 19 days ago: If it's considered, then there is certainly a way to paint the situation as a way of earning immortality in one of the most storied franchise in professional football, despite their two decades of desolation. Besides, the guy headed to Washington is NOT better than Kirk Cousins, despite SAS talking you all into that...
Not top QB's... I think Gipson wanted to stay too, but after it didn't happen, he got bitter..... I think we will get Pryor...and maybe Solder. Landry has been vocal about wanting to stay in Miami. Something tells me Cleveland will be a tough sell for him.

Its one game....if the Browns go 3-13 and KC goes 11-5 and makes the playoffs nobody in KC is mad they lost to A Smith and the Browns
Worse still... Cousins is one of only 11 QBs in the past decade to attempt more than 540+ passes a season, the primary driver for throwing 4,000+ yards. Only Tannehill and Carr failed to throw for 4,000 yards in consecutive seasons. Tannehill missed the consecutive streak, but still managed to average 4,000 a season. Kirk Cousins isn't getting 4,000 yards because he's better than everyone else. He's getting there because he's throwing it more than everyone else.
Disagree on that one....now if Cousins wants 4 yrs $125M then I tell him see ya, but if he's reasonable and takes 4 yrs $80M
