Mock Draft | Senior Bowl Edition The Senior Bowl is (almost) in the books - the game is really just a scrimmage. Coaches, scouts, and GMs met with players and got to get a feel for the candidates. John Dorsey gave some candid remarks on what he looks for - not just in QBs, but overall - and his thoughts on some of the QBs. We got to hear Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield interview with our Cleveland guys at The Fan and even got the Tiger Beat and Smear Stories from our own Mary Kay and Tony G. Good times! The one thing I came away with from the week: Baker Mayfield is not just QB1, he's Prospect1 and John Dorsey is taking him at #1 overall. Without further ado... 1.1: Baker Mayfield, QB Oklahoma The guy simply has it all. There hasn't been a QB prospect this good since 2012. He checks all of John Dorsey's criteria, he's the top-rated analytics QB the past two years running. Two folks in the business I follow (James Coburn and Ben Allbright) have him both as their QB1 - in Allbright's case, he said he has put his career on the line for three guys ever - Russell Wilson, Carson Wentz, and now Baker Mayfield. In Coburn's case (an analytics guy) his QB1 the past three years has been: Wentz, Watson, Mayfield (with Mayfield scoring better than all of them). The singular red flag isn't height, but the arrest. If Dorsey is comfortable there isn't a dependency problem (al la, Manziel) this is the pick. Turn in the card! 1.4 (f/Houston): Bradley Chubb, DE N.C. State This pick is going to hinge on what happens ahead of us. For the moment, I foresee New York selecting Sam Darnold as a developmental QB behind Eli and Indianapolis selecting Saquon Barkely at the behest of their owner. That leaves the Browns with a choice between top player and top need. While Fitzpatrick is tempting, most folks rate Chubb higher and Dorsey said himself he'd be taking the "best player". Chubb is a specimen (list 6'4" 275 pounds) with production to match. He's an all-around talent and Dorsey's interest in Marcus Davenport (DE, Texas-San Antonio) shows he's not shy about adding to a position of strength. Adding Chubb would give the Browns a tremendous rush package and allow Williams to get creative with blitzes and stunts - Garrett was unblockable when blitzing the guard-center as an inside lineman. Additionally, a terrific pass rush makes your secondary look better (see: Jacksonville). 2.33: Isaiah Oliver, CB Colorado Browns are in a great position owning this pick, giving them the ability to move up or trade out accordingly based on what happens in Round 1. For now, I'm taking a top-rated cornerback in a very deep class. Oliver has NFL size, elite speed, and long arms (comp would be Morris Claiborne). This move serves another purpose in that it allows Williams to move Jason McCourty to free safety where he also frees up Jabrill Peppers to play strong all the time. Oliver is not as refined, but has a very high ceiling and the size/speed combo that guys like Dorsey covet. 2.35 (f/Houston): Anthony Miller, WR Memphis The choice at slot here boils down to Miller, with elite speed and production or D.J. Moore (Maryland) with great size for the position. Either way, the Browns get a good player capable of starting and upgrading the passing game Day 1. Miller has been ultra-productive in the past two seasons, amassing 191 catches, 2,896 yards, and 32 touchdowns. He was one of the highest-graded players from the slot, catching 76.7 percent of his throws while lined up inside and adding four scores - fifth most among all draft-eligible receivers - numbers made even more impressive when he only took 33.6 percent of his snaps from the slot. 2.63 (f/Philadelphia): Rashaad Penny, RB San Diego State A current "riser" in the draft world, Penny has all-around running back talent and emerged as a full time starter just this season (he'll leave SDSU with 183 fewer career touches than Saquon Barkley). In 2017, he posted 2,248 yards (7.8 YPC), 23 touchdowns and added 135 receiving yards and two scores in the passing game. He's listed as 5'11" and 220 pounds, easily making him a three-down back at the next level. He's a guy to watch as his stock is likely only going to go up. 3.65: Brian O'Neill, OT Pitt I've seen O'Neill all over the board and I doubt he lasts this long, but if he does it's a steal. A former TE/RT turned LT who's a professional at pass protection. O'Neill was the top-rated pass blocker in 2016 at right tackle and finished third in college in 2017 after a conversion to left tackle. With Joe Thomas' status up in the air and some questions still lingering around Rod Johnson's development and Shon Coleman's ability, it doesn't hurt to add more capable bodies to the offensive line. O'Neill is a tactician who wins with finesse and could study under one of the best alive in Thomas up until his retirement.
Well we agree on #1 right now. Anything short of a Cousins signing, Mayfield will be a Cleveland Brown. They will not mess around and get cute, trying to land him at #4.... We’re drafting Josh Allen. I have the same sick feeling about him that I had about Weeden and Manchild. I tried hard to be a Weeden backer, and even allowed myself optimism, afterwards, when I saw the whole clay pigeon video. Screw Manchild.

Just based on the Senior Bowl, we haven't talked nearly enough about this guy; Mike White - WKU He's looked the best as far as the game is concerned. Dude has shown NFL caliber accuracy and touch....

I didn’t see any game. I have about a 14 hour time difference from you guys, and I don’t even have basic cable. If he performed well in that game, then I’d say that’s a problem. He’s leeched into serious discussion for #1, and then occasionally flashes. I’m aboard the Mayfield train with the rest of this crowd. I think it’s the first time since Joe Thomas was still at Wisconsin that we’ve all agreed on anything.
