  4. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

You keep saying this, but what about the other 49 1/2 quarters in the season where he was the absolute best QB in the entire college football world. Those last two and a half he may have looked average, but average is Rosen and Darnolds career...

  6. Didnt see it

  7. Yep cause that was his most important game in his career vs and great defensive coach...that coach made adjustments and also had these quotes that should raise an eye brow...
    Will there b adjustments coach..
“Absolutely,” he said. “We can stop the run first, try to make them one-dimensional.”

“The good news is we can still make some adjustments, come back and fight,” he said. “Our offense is keeping us in the game. We just have to tackle, stop the run, and try to make them run less.”

  8. Sounds like he didnt feel Mr Mayfield could beat them and he was right

So your answer is to draft??? Because NO OTHER QB IN THIS DRAFT won as many games as Baker Mayfield and destroyed as many defenses as Baker Mayfield or came close to the production against that particular defense as Baker Mayfield...

So your answer is to draft Josh Rosen?

One of Josh Rosen's better games came against California, the 78th best defense.

    72.2% comp., 202 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT, -34 rushing yards (-6.8 YPC)

One of Baker's better games was his second outing against TCU (so the second time they got to play him) and it happened while they were a Top 10 defense (they finished 16th after being shredded by Baker).

    65.2% comp., 243 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT, 65 rushing yards (10.8 YPC)

Rosen's toughest competition (Washington) finished #5 in total defense. His line?

57.1% comp., 93 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, -19 rush yards and his second-lowest QB rating of the season.

Mayfield's toughest competition (Georgia) finished #6 in total defense and is @showstopper's case for not taking Baker. His line?

    65.7% comp., 287 yards, 3 total TD, 1 INT, 147.7 QB rating

Also... remember when I posted about Josh Rosen learning UCLA's playbook in three days? Well...

You don't hype a 6'0" quarterback this much if you're not taking him. Plain and simple. Browns have two picks in the Top 5 - they're getting the QB they want and they don't have to play games. If they take a QB at #1, no one's jumping them to #3 to get a guy. This isn't a smoke screen to try and get some other player to drop.

John Dorsey personally scouted Baker Mayfield, despite not having an NFL job.

John Dorsey - barring some major legal or personal issues for Baker - is drafting Mayfield #1 overall in April.

    1. Gotta Win

No QB in this class has more wins or a better winning percentage than Baker.

    2. Physical Skills/Feet/Accuracy

No QB in this class is remotely close to Baker in terms of accuracy. He throws the most catachable ball of not only this class, but any class in years. Despite a small stature, he's a mobile QB who has great feet and can make plays outside of the pocket if they break down.

    3. Mindset of a Coach

Won't really know until they get in front of coaches on a white board.

    4. Comprehend/Digest Playbook

Learned OU's playbook in two days. Learned Vance Joseph's playbook "on the fly", despite showing up late to the Senior Bowl. Bonus Points: Joseph runs the same system Todd Haley will with respect to play-calls (concepts versus routes, verbiage).

    5. Leadership Component

No QB has been more highly-praised in this regard.

    6. Adverse Situations

Seriously... do I even need to go through these? Baker is better (again) than anyone else in the field and it's not close.

    A) One FBS scholarship offer
    B) Walk-on who became the first FBS true freshman to start, still not guaranteed the job
    C) Tranfserred and walked on, won the starting job
    D) Is 6'0"
    E) Arrested for disorderly conduct, no further incidents
    F) Benched due to lewd jestures, responded with 59-31 win over opponent, producing his best FBS game of the year
    G) Laid up with illness prior to College Football Playoffs - scored 41 points against the Nation's 6th best defense
    H) Missing time at Senior Bowl due to sick family member, still dominating the practices

Conclusion: We're drafting Baker Mayfield #1 overall. I'm buying my jersey.

    IF . . .

The Browns select Barkley at #1, any chance Mayfield makes it to #4?

And, if he does . . . Mayfield or Fitz at #4?

But I don't think Rudolph gets out of the first 16 picks of the second round, and I could still see him getting nabbed by New England at the bottom of the first.

    EDIT
Already forgot about Jacksonville's interest. Rudolph is probably the best candidate to be in the first round that is getting little discussion of it at the moment.
