https://www.yahoo.com/sports/case-k...ent-family-members-eagles-fans-161648693.html not sure why his family was not in a club box suite and among the animals, I mean fans, at the game...
Jean - i'm from Philly. If I was an opposing player - I wouldn't let my wife and kids near that Philly crowd ! That's like throwing steaks to a pack of lions! Yes, I would get them in a club box. Tons of them at the Linc. They hold 40+ people a box.
Tons of them that are accounted for already. Now I'm not from Philly and never have been there but for what it's worth I have been on record that Philly fans can be assholes. It isn't a majority at all but there is likely a higher percentage than average and to a greater extent of douchebaggery(I don't mean debauchery but they are close) amongst a decent percentage of those people. That along with a misinterpretation of what the average fan means in their thoughts/action and rehashed incorrect stories like Santa veer many to think they are worse than they are. Unfortunately some of that misinterpretation comes from within and keeps filling the pool of the aforementioned douchbags before it can deplete due to growing up, moving away or going to jail or some form of Darwinism. Yes I did just endorse and condemn the fanbase all at the same time. Now time to win the SB so people can party like the won the SB after actually winning one unlike whatever the hell people were doing after last week.
I've been to Philly many times and have only encountered rowdy fans at or near the hockey arena. I was wearing a Penz hat and it was a playoff game, so it was very much expected. I chanted "1975!" while walking through a gauntlet of buzzing black/orange clad fans as I made my way to my seat. I just rolled with it and luckily none of the fans I encountered were looking to go all "Broad Street". I've seen articles and clips online of other incidents, but I like Philly. Its a good foodie town.
you're lucky you made it out alive chanting that and wearing a penguins hat. if you were a cowboys fan, you might be dead.
Joe - what were they doing last week? Philly has a lot of losing on their hands, so a trip to the Super Bowl - for only the 3rd time in the team's dismal history is a reason to celebrate. hell, the players get beer showers after winning a round in the playoffs in baseball. This city has waited since 04 for another trip to the SB. Much like when the Phils clinched the NLCS and WS in - 08 after years and decades of losing any chance to win a championship and it's party time as it doesn't happen often in the city. So yeah they were out in full force celebrating going to the Super Bowl! If they win, the parade estimates are insane. Some sports writers said it could be the biggest sports parade ever ! Hide the woman, children and Vikings fans. Oh and those 200 fans who dressed the Rocky statue in Vikings gear and then stood on the Art Museum steps and did the SKOL clap...you're lucky that's far away from the Linc. douchebaggery? to me it's Vikings fans bringing it on themselves with taunts etc at the the Eagles fans and Eagles fans being drunk and stupid and looking for trouble. Yeah Philly fans are bad. Ugly at times. Criminal at times. I think some other cities are just as bad. Cubs fans pouring a beer on Shane Victorino as he was catching a flyball in Wrigley. 2 White Sox fans-a father and son, jumping an umpire at a MLB game bf they were pummeled by both teams. Hockey in the 70s with the Boston Bruins going INTO THE STANDS to fight fans? Plenty of videos of bloodshed at a Raiders - 49ers game. LA Dodgers-SF Giants...They put a guy in a coma and he's now handicapped for life. I think another fan in their rivalry was stabbed to death last summer. He may have lived, but stabbed Joe ? Philly fans may throw beer at you or call your Vikings Mother a dirty whore, but some acts are different than others. Hell the NYG used newspaper photos to see who t he fans were in the newspaper throwing snowballs at the refs years ago and took away their seats. No city is better than worse than others bc if you dig far enough you will find other violent acts associated to a teams fanbase. Philly has their share of terrible stories. To me Joe, Philly is no different than other venues. MANY FANS ARE ASSHOLES. Do I need to repeat my Pitt Panthers story ? Like the old saying "don't let a few bad apples spoil a bunch." Hey at least Eric Lindros called out Flyers fans for giving Mario Lemieux a standing ovation when he came back from cancer last week.
Its well known and several nfl players have said the first thing they learn about Philly is dont take your family to the game.
the home teams have a club box for the opposing teams owners. they don't have any for the players wives? a box holds ton of people.
Well there are 53 players on the roster if half of them are married you are looking at 26 wives plus children (I think the average 2.5 so we will go low and go 1.5) so now we are looking at 39 kids. that is 65 people before we even take into account coaches families and the owners. Vikings coaching staff has 21 coaches (by their website) so we will go with half again so that is 10 wives and 15 children. So now you are looking at 80 people still not counting the vikings Owner and family. The vikings are owned by Zygi Wilf and 5 partners (Wikipedia). So now you are looking at roughly 85 people needing to sit in the Vikings club box. According to one site I looked at the largest suite held 24 people. Now its possible that the owners suite and the opposing teams is slightly larger but still not big enough to sit 85 people so how do you pick and choose who gets to go into those seats.
Whoever gave the best gifts during the holidays... everyone else gets to join the savages of Philadelphia in stadium gen-pop.
Its a shame in this day and age that people are so violent and disrespectful... its just a game for crying out loud. Read something interesting earlier too... Philly players have had a hard time with their fans also. God forbid you have a bad game because your family becomes a target. That's BS, in my opinion. Maybe they should really look into this and start enforcing some more serious policies. Someone is going to pay the ultimate price and all they did was go to a game. Its not just Philly I'm knocking either... my gripe is against all the assholes that do this stuff, but some city's are far worse than others (San Francisco for one, haha, I said it). I still think this can be handled, but it will take money and effort and the right brains behind it to get the job done right. The Philadelphia PD could have done a better job too. Its not every day a mob gets away with being drunk and disorderly in public and pelting a public transportation bus... someone dropped the ball there.
not big enough. when Vet stadium had a jail cell and a court room inside of it, I knew of the Judge who ran it. Judge Seamus McCafferey. His 2 sons went to grade and high school with me and his son Sean was in my classes for 12 yrs. Both his sons are cops now or FBI. Something like that.
no kids. wives only. this isn't HS graduation and 6 guests per student. IF they wanna go to the game, it's 1 spouse. Not your parents and Grandparents.
