I can't totally agree with this Dvl

Mitchell Schwartz was NOT a cancer, he simply wanted to see what his market value was. He saw that it was exactly what Sashi offered and came back to the table to accept it, Sashi said sorry, that was yesterdays offer, there isn't one today...Same with Pryor, but a lower talent than Schwartz.

He also let Taylor Gabriel, and Tashon Gipson walk

While, moving on from Demario Davis and Joe Haden...I'm not saying Haden wasn't overpriced, but he HURT this roster by being let go, he didn't help it in any way other than the salary cap, which he doesn't seem to care a lot about since he traded for a QB that he fully intended to cut, costing them $16M against the cap.

I can agree with high priced, but what name on that list was a cancer? That's 5 players that could have helped this young team in 2018. Instead this roster was left to fend for themselves, and they simply couldn't catch up in time to steal a win.

We'll save a seat for you.

Ultimately, I just think a more prudent move is to get Alex Smith over Kirk Cousins. Cousins has made his point - that he only values money - abundantly clear when he rejected Washington's offer last season, which would have made him the highest paid player in the NFL.

If we're talking about having a Top 12 guy, why not Alex Smith then? Last three seasons...

    Cousins: 67.0% comp., 274.5 yards-per-game, 81 TD (4.8%), 36 INT (2.1%), 97.5 QB rating
    Smith: 66.7% comp., 239.8 yards-per-game, 61 TD (4.2%), 20 INT (1.4%), 97.2 QB rating

    And last season...

    Cousins: 64.3% comp., 255.8 yards-per-game, 27 TD (5.0%), 13 INT (2.4%), 93.9 QB rating
    Smith: 67.5% comp., 269.5 yards-per-game, 26 TD (5.1%), 5 INT (1.0%), 104.7 QB rating

Cousins was #12 in the NFL. Smith was #1 in the NFL.

Cousins costs you $30+ million a year. Smith costs you $17 million and a draft pick.

  3. So what happens if the Browns select Rosen, Darnold or Allen...Mayfield ends up w NYJ...Jets fans now lol

I can talk myself into Rosen. But yeah, they take Allen or Darnold and I'm out.

I can talk myself into Darnold, but anyone else...I don't know what I will do...

That's just it Irish. We have the ammunition. We have 3 second round draft choices. Of course they are valuable commodities. Hell, Haslam bought one of them for $16,000,000.00 last year. smh....If it brings us Alex Smith, it instantly gives us legitimacy at QB. That's maximizing the commodities in my book. We could go from the worst QB situation in football, to among the very strongest with Alex Smith and Baker Mayfield in the QB room....We've got everything it takes to make that happen. And the Chiefs are ready to deal...

I don't disagree, unless you are talking about getting a BETTER QB in Cousins without needing to use a draft pick...

  8. TopDawg Legend

    But then there's no Mayfield...

  9. TopDawg Legend

And I don't know that Cousins is better than Smith...He's is 5 and a half years younger though. So that's what your paying for...

    FUN FACT!

#33, #35, and #63 are enough ammunition to get to #8 overall. If they so desired, Browns could have three picks in the Top 10.

Like I said, I'd be happy either way....But IMO, clearly the Smith route is more attractive. I guess it just depends on how you feel about the rookie prospect. If you think he has no shot to be as good as Cousins, then there ya go....But if you think he might be the next Drew Brees, it's a no brainer which route to go. The Browns are in the catbird seat...

  12. TopDawg Legend

I was wrong...Actually, Smith is only about 4 years older than Cousins...

What will we need to trade up to 22 and take Mayfield?

One of your early 2nds and your late 2nd or 3(1) would likely be the base of a trade up to that range.

I believe he was being sarcastic.. our last two first round QBs came at that spot, which hasn't been kind to us.

I understood exactly why he said #22, which ironically may just be traded to a team since it's the Bills' 2nd pick.

Still, I gave the answer anyways.

Mayfield will be long gone by pick 22....
