No player guarantees you a Super Bowl, if he did he would be the highest payed player in the league and would go to what ever team he chose.

To say that Josh Rosen gets you CLOSER to that Super Bowl than Kirk Cousins, imho, is down right wrong. Rosen couldn't get his team to winning seasons in COLLEGE. I still for the life of me can't figure out what this kid has done to garner as much attention as he does. Mechanics? Hell, there are other QBs with good mechanics, it can't be JUST that. He hasn't overwhelmed ANYONE...In fact I would say he has been very underwhelming.

Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins has posted 3 straight 4,000 yard/25 TD seasons in a row since becoming a full time starter...by the way, that's in the National Football League, not the Pac-12. Yet, you refuse to acknowledge that he has done anything, BECAUSE he hasn't gone to the playoffs...

    YET...

    Your list of "franchise QBs"
Luck, NEVER WON A SUPER BOWL
    Brady, 1
Rivers, NEVER WON A SUPER BOWL
    Big Ben, 2
    Eli, 3
Ryan, NEVER WON A SUPER BOWL
Cam, NEVER WON A SUPER BOWL
Goff, NEVER WON A SUPER BOWL
Wentz, NEVER WON A SUPER BOWL
    Brees, 4
    Flacco, 5
    Wilson, 6
    Rodgers, 7

So there are ACTUALLY only 7 QBs worthy of your approval...not the entire list you originally gave back on January 5th, 2018?

Now, out of that list can you really state with conviction that there are NO OTHER QBs in this league that can win a Super Bowl? Because, Nick Foles might just be the next Super Bowl winner and he has earned it, not simply rode his teams coattails because Wentz was injured...Is HE going to be added to the list if/when he wins the big game...and if so, would you put your backing to the Browns trading for him to lead them?

Get me Terry Bradshaw out of retirement, truly amazing talent. Many, many rings to prove it.

LOL - That's fair. Is it offset by Kareem Hunt? Jared Goff? Cooper Kupp? What about Jordan Howard?

My stumping for Cody K. had far less to do with viewing him as the next Tom Brady than viewing the 2017 QB class (especially in the Top 12 picks) as the next Tom Brady. I don't know what happened to Cody behind the scenes... I can't explain it. But something was damaged within him. Had I known he would have been terrified stepping onto a football field - as he was in 2017 - I absolutely would have pushed harder for Trubisky, Watson, or Dobbs... the QBs I liked the most this past year.

The argument I made all offseason was you had at worst a game manager behind center that you could add two tremendous talents at #1 and #12. My idyllic world involved taken Garret at #1 - who was the best rookie in the class when the dust settled, and trading up to take Malik Hooker at #6. You leave a guy like Cody who can manage the game at worst but who showed enough as a rookie to warrant a closer look (92.3 QB rating) and add the pieces around him. Then get the QB if Cody doesn't pan out, al la Philadelphia and Los Angeles with Wentz and Goff.

It's my understanding that Hue Jackson will cede control of the play-calling. So that's a win....

As far as Todd Haley goes. Lets hope that hip heals up....During his career it appears he's had a lot of success, and an equal amount of drama. We could live without the craziness. Cleveland fans have had enough of that...

On second thought, If he can make the Browns into a top 5 NFL offense, I really don't care who he, or his wife, punches at the bar....

According to Tony Grossi...In a satellite radio interview last night, Baker Mayfield's representative Jack Mills, said he doesn't think Browns will select Mayfield. He thinks the earliest Baker will be drafted is #5 to Denver...In his opinion it'll Darnold or Allen to the Browns.

  13. This shouldnt be a big surprise except its Allen instead of Rosen

Who wants to win in 2018? Who wants to wait until 2020?

If your want to win this year, there is only one way to do it...go get a veteran QB. Nick Foles is proof that with a great team around you, a QB that has been around for a while can win.

I am over the fact that Cousins is the best "option" for the Browns, quite frankly, I don't think there is any chance the Redskins allow him to leave.

I would be in the corner of trading for either Alex Smith or Nick Foles at this point.

I still believe I would prefer Smith, however, What Foles has done in the playoffs shows what he can do when it is all on the line...and I'm digging it.

I agree Irish...The losing has to stop. If the Browns want to be taken seriously, they need to get a strong veteran QB. I'm not so sure about Cousins staying in Washington. I think he is likely to be the top F/A on the market, and for many reasons that have nothing to do with money, I have a hard time envisioning him coming to Cleveland...He did say he'd consider the Browns, and that was refreshing to hear. That would be a helluva get for the Cleveland Browns, and would free them up to fill other key positional needs with those top 5 draft picks...

I still think a trade for Alex Smith seems like the most likely scenario, though the Browns would still need to go after a QB in the first round of the draft...So that brings up some questions. Would the Browns be willing to part with what would likely be a high draft pick (2nd rounder) for Smith, knowing there are no guarantees of extending his contract? Would the Browns even be willing to extend his contract, which is sure to be extremely pricey, presumably while they are already grooming hios replacement?

If it boils down to free agency for us on the QB front, I fear we will end up with McCarron or Bridgewater as our "established" veteran, and it's difficult to get excited about that...When the new GM makes comments like, "we can't win with this roster", it just doesn't inspire a lot of confidence that we will attract high end talent in free agency...Surely that is why Alex Smith is a popular theory. Obviously, he would come to town via trade...

Well . . . The fact remains we DIDN'T win with this roster.

If you take an objective look at the roster, you will find some good to very good players sprinkled in there. But virtually every positional group has too many weak links (either in a starter or in the back up when the starter went down). IMHO, it will take an exceptional draft PLUS adding experienced veterans in key roles to win and win consistently.

Agreed. I'm not arguing it...Just facing the grim reality of what it potentially means in regards to attracting a real difference maker in free agency...
