2018 NFL Draft | Quarterbacks

Discussion in 'Cleveland Browns' started by SAS, Nov 22, 2017.

  1. Their defense was pretty good....lets not act like they were the 85 Bears.....I saw a true Frosh come in at the 2nd half and make a lot of plays and that play where they lost wasnt pretty defense.....Georgia adjusted at half and Baker looked lost...you can deny it all you want but the proof was there

Mayfield did what he was asked to do...what more can you ask of him? Who are you to say that will change when something else/different is asked of him. I will say this, where ever he lands a team will need to adapt to his special play, just as ANY QB would be the same. You can't take one exact offense, pick 20 QBs and expect them all to run it the same...Now take 20 QBs and adapt to 20 different offenses and 20 QBs will have a chance to succeed.

What does that have to do with anything? Wentz was scouted for his likelihood to be a franchise QB not for how he could fit in a system.

Lol, you are a lost cause stopper... You said he looked average to below average and NO MATTER WHAT, you can't see the forest for the trees... He was anything but average against that defense. If we would allow you to, you would pick out 3 drives out of 16 and show your entire argument based on that small sample size.

Rodney Anderson the rest of 2017: 162 rushes, 960 yards, 11 TDs
Ronald Jones (USC): 261 rushes, 1,550 yards, 19 TDs

One. No team uses a "pro-system". They rely on pro-style concepts, but it isn't an NFL playbook or scheme.

Two. DeShone Kizer, Nate Peterman, and Christian Ponder all came from "pro-style" college systems. Deshaun Watson, Jared Goff, and Dak Prescott all came from spread offense.

Three. USC ran an average of 73.8 offensive plays per game in 2017. OU ran an average of 69.9 offensive plays per game. USC averaged 30:54 average TOP on offense. Oklahoma averaged 31:49. Average time-per-play: 0.42 (USC), 0.46 (OU). "NASCAR-type pace".

Four. The Panthers, Chiefs, Eagles, and Bengals all heavily use RPO schemes (college scheme).

I love that this is what you use to dismiss Mayfield.

Georgia Defensive Coaches: "Hey guys, you know the most talented player in NCAA football? The guy who just won the Heisman? Let's use this month-long break to build an entire gameplan around limiting him."

Georgia Defensive Players: "What if the running back goes for like, 200 yards?"

GDC: "Even if that happens, we'll have limited Mayfield and I guarantee we can win the game if we do that."

    GDP: "You got it, Coach!"

    [end scene]

(Also, I'm not sure where the scene/act bit came from but I'm doing it a lot lately and I can't seem to stop myself!)

  8. IN THE GAME VS GEORGIA....ANDERSON WAS AMAZING....WE WERE NOT TALKING ALL YEAR

  9. Well 31 pts in 1st half then 14.....its called adjustments...you know like not keeping your safety back 30 yds on almost snap or getting killed on almost every screen pass cause you blitz the house....nobody is gonna change your mind but dont get mad when Rosen or Darnold are the 1st name off the board

  10. He was avg in the 1st half and below avg in the 2nd half...good thing for the run game in the 1st half

I'm a glutton for punishment...Could you please explain what you are comparing him to, when you say average to below average? Average to below average WHAT exactly?

So, not professionally, just by your personal naked eye, you felt he looked average, even though all indicators say otherwise.

    Ok, got it...

  17. Yes sir why do I care what other people say....are they perfect? Do GM's get fired? Do coaches get fired? Did u want a guy that was drafted that turned into a bust but ur still rating Mayfield #1...its all opinions my man...if you think he looked great in that game more power to you but I saw a QB who didn't make adjustments and was dazed and confused in the 2nd half

  18. Geez I just listened to Mel Kiper, the professional, give his top 10...Mayfield wasn't even in it

    I ..... Just ..... Can't ..... Let it ...go....

OK, you want to watch what average looks like? Watch this...

Then, when you have some extra time, this is a pretty non-bias YouTuber who breaks down all kinds of players. He will show you the good, bad and ugly of each player he evaluates. There is a LOT TO LIKE when watching Baker Mayfield...Enjoy

Mel Kiper is one of the worst talent evaluators out there. It's documented. He berated NFL teams everywhere for not picking Jimmy Clausen in the first round and ever since has become a joke to anyone who actually evaluates college prospects on their own. Kiper doesn't appeal to a single demographic either, yet ESPN holds onto him and his hair gel as it plummets in ratings and quality programming alike.
