Gene Steratore will referee the Super Bowl We don’t know which teams will be playing in Super Bowl LII in Minnesota on February 4, but we do know who will be running the officiating crew. The NFL announced on Wednesday that Gene Steratore will be the referee for Super Bowl LII. It’s the first time that Steratore, who has been a referee since 2006, has been selected to work the game. His older brother Tony has worked two Super Bowls as a back judge. Steratore was involved in one of the oddest officiating moments of the year when he broke out an index card as part of his process for measuring a first down during a December game between the Cowboys and Raiders. The league said there is no rule barring officials from using a card that way, but head of officiating Alberto Riveron later said that referees have been told not to do it again. The rest of the crew will be made up of umpire Roy Ellison, down judge Jerry Bergman, line judge Byron Boston, field judge Tom Hill, side judge Scott Edwards and back judge Perry Paganelli. Bergman joins Steratore as first-timers at the Super Bowl.
What the heck are teams supposed to say? We are not going to win the Super Bowl? They don't have to just not say it at all. But when you explicitly start talking smack about a certain matchup that is yet to be scheduled while barely touching on the opponent in front of you it is looking past them. If this weren't the Steelers I would like to think you'd see that.
Vanilla like Belichick If asked they answer: We are playing the patriots this week next question. We are going to win the Super Bowl (teams not decided yet implies they are already past the Patriots)
It's not the same. You are just upset because it's not getting the same attention your team got for looking past them. I don't think we'll ever convince each other otherwise. What do others think that aren't Steelers fans?
Matty is a Patriots fan and he already gave his opinion...Its the same thing. That being said, I don't fault the guy for having confidence. About the only difference is Ramsey can back up his claim, Mitchell didn't do sh*t all season to justify his claims. Honestly hope he is cut this offseason.
Well the Pats are the team that is "being looked over". Has Mitchell done nothing all season? I know people were talking smack before and after about him and that he was called one of the most overpaid players in the league in the preseason but I never really paid attention to him much in season.
Well I guess to be fair he was injured much of the year, I think he missed 2 or 3 games. But he takes bad angles and always looks for a big instead of playing the ball and fails to wrap up ball carriers, instead relying on the shoulder tackle. He's not horrible, but definitely not a star. Has talent, but appears to have a box of rocks between his ears on the football field. I know there have been quite a few instances where if he would've played the ball he would've had good chances for INTs.
Joe is just playing devil's advocate because Ramsey is playing the Pats and Joe is possibly one of the biggest Pats haters on here (and that's saying something). If Gilmore had said the same thing his take on it would be completely different. That being said I kind of agree with him, lol. Steelers thought they would walk right trough the Jags and had themselves playing in Foxboro. Ramsey and anyone on the Jags would have to be the dumbest person in sports to overlook the Pats. However, he should of kept his trap shut. No need to give the Pats a reason to create an aspect of disrespect, even if it isn't true.
If Gilmore said it I would say the same thing as long as it wasn't something like beating the Vikings. If someone on the Eagles said we'll beat the Pats I would say he should STFU. Unless it was in context of we'll beat the Vikings and we'll beat the Jags or Pats as that falls under saying you'll win it all. I may not like the Pats much but it doesn't equate to bias clouding my opinions and judgments. Although when I do and am caught I admit it.
Bollocks. You are the most stubborn guy to change his mind going(you still think Ohio St should of been in over Bama) and everything you post on the Pats is negatively biased. Unlike me who is reasonable in thought and moderate on Patriot takes.
No, I just know hindsight is ass. Plus I did say the system was broken and Bama would and should be in a bigger system anyways along with Ohio State, UCF and 2 other mostly lucky teams to fill in (Wisconsin and USC). Another example, UCLA made the NCAA tournament a few years ago for no explicable reason, they had a run. It doesn't mean they couldn't win games if they made it, but it doesn't mean they should have had the opportunity over someone else. But that system can't really have much outrage with so many at-large spots. I say positive things about the Pats although it's usually ignored since it isn't starting an argument. I have praised Brady and Belichick on multiple occasions. But I do usually tend to ignore the Pats when they are good because what is there to talk about? They are good as expected, next subject.
One thing I'll agree with, it gives the Pats material. They can interpret it as overlooking if they want. I don't think it's the case but they'll spin it how they want if it motivates them. It's pretty much a self-fulling prophesy if the Pats themselves believe it, or try to make themselves believe it.
Adam Butler on Jalen Ramsey: Be humble or be humbled Some Patriots players brushed off Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey telling fans at a pep rally that the Jaguars are going to win the Super Bowl as the musings of a confident player that weren’t a big deal, but a couple of others shared a different view on Wednesday. Cornerback Eric Rowe said “we saw what happened to the Steelers” in reference to the perception that they were looking past the Jaguars and said he doesn’t think that “mindset” is a good idea. Defensive tackle Adam Butler said he felt Ramsey was putting the cart before the horse “in a sense” and that “you better be able to back it up.” “It’s a bold statement to make,” Butler said, via ESPN.com. “It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out. But like I said, be humble or be humbled. That’s all I can really say about that.” If the Jaguars do win on Sunday, it’s likely that Ramsey will play a big role in getting them to Minneapolis and his vow to the fans will become part of the franchise’s lore. If not, it might lead to a different approach if Ramsey gets back to this spot in future seasons. (PFT)
