Doesn't mean I have to like him. I do hope he gets things together and rights the ship, but so far I don't think he's the one to head us in that direction.....
Yes he is . Lym what makes you feel like he can get the job done ? I know he was handed a bare bones roster to work with but he cant get out of his own way . clock mismanagement . blown challenge after blown challenge and no discipline . oh and he will not give up playcalling it appears . i just hate to see the Browns have a lame duck coach starting the season .

To start with, he's the same guy he was two years ago went he was one of the most sought after HC candidates out there. He's the same guy that everybody in here went ape shit crazy over when he was hired. Has he made in-game mistakes? He sure has. I'm just not certain he's made more than his fair share as EVERY head coach in the NFL botches sideline decisions. Do I think he needs to clear his plate and hire a play-calling OC? Absolutely.
I'm not sure he is... When he was hired, I was CERTAIN they finally hired a guy that would come in here and get the running game going. He has at every other turn of his career as a play caller...but not in Cleveland. His scheme works, they were fine in ypc, however one of the lowest number of carries in the NFL, that just isn't Hue Jackson football...except that it is in Cleveland. I just think he has too much on his plate to the point he can't do any one aspect to the best of his ability. I'm not convinced he realizes he is calling so many passes in game, he simply is too flustered to handle every aspect of game day. I really had hope he would hire an OC and am disappointed that it is looking quite the opposite right now.
I submit that, IF he had called more running plays, this offense STILL would have been ineffective with the total lack of receivers coupled with our POS quarterback. Kizer inflicted zero fear in opposing defenses. Not to mention he was playing from behind so much. And this fan base would STILL be a lynch mob with Jackson in their sights.
Quite possible, but I did just read a report from Ian Rappaport that Mike Mularkey could actually become the next OC of the Browns..so there is still hope that it will happen in 2018.
His offense is antiquated by today’s NFL standards. He needs elite talent to make it work. He’s not talented enough to adapt scheme to players. He rode the worst QB in recent history through a piss-away season that will see the Browns likely sign/trade for a veteran and draft another at #1 overall - effectively ending Kizer’s career in Cleveland. In what universe is that okay? The Titans, fresh off a 10-6 season and post-season win parted ways with their HC because of a disagreement over the OC role on the team.
I believe your first point is only true because of your second point, although I was somewhat encouraged by an uptick in play by the defensive line, and the offensive line. The improvement may be subtle, but it was there. Point three is true because of what many here have said about he has overloaded his plate, and needs to delegate responsibilities to others. Your fourth point is one I've thought a lot about this season. Just my opinion, but I believe Hue truly had no confidence in any of his QBs, and since Kizer was rammed down his throat by Sashi, and Haslem, I think he just decided to throw him out there to prove to ownership that Sashi is an idiot who had no idea what talent is. Hue is our HC. That's not going to change for at least another season. As a fan since 1954, I'm waiting to see what they get out of this year's draft, and how they produce next season. I know that is said annually by many, but it's all I got. I don't believe a starting QB exists from those coming out of the Power Five. Can't speak to those other QBs coming out from the smaller school conferences, but that would be where I'd look to, if any exist at all. Failing that, I'd look to the free agent market, or a trade. As for the draft, go after another O lineman, Linebacker, one of the many really good WRs, and DBs. Just my opinion. Rok
Welcome to the island, Rok! Hope you brought some Scotch. I'm almost out of it. {edit} P.S. I could use some cigars, too. Preferably Cuban.
At some point, we're going to have to stop giving the "QB Whisperer" and guy who had the majority say in the QB decision a pass for the QBs on the roster. Carson Wentz: Jackson was the only coach as his Pro Day, running the drills himself with the QB. Carson Wentz was going to be a Cleveland Brown - in his mind, it had already happened. The next day, the Browns signed Jackson's preferred guy - Bob Griffin - and Jackson said Wentz was a good prospect but not at #2 overall. Mitch Trubisky: Sashi Brown, the guy who took the ultimate bullet, was going to take Mitch Trubisky at #1 overall and Hue Jackson had to talk him out of it. Deshaun Watson: Hue Jackson strongly denied sending a text to Watson the morning of the draft and is again on record as saying he wanted Malik Hooker at #12. Brock Osweiler: after his release, Hue Jackson took the shot saying the reason Brock didn't work out was talent - he, a notarized QB authority and evaluator, deemed Osweiler to have less talent than: Kizer, Kessler, and Hogan. Josh McCown: McCown was 0-3 as a starter in his time with Jackson and was behind both Griffin and Kessler, even after getting healthy late in the year (2016). Hue Jackson offered him a coaching position on his staff, seeming to imply they thought his playing days were done. When Josh indicated a desire to keep playing, the Browns released him. It has not come out who or why DeShone Kizer was drafted. That, honestly, is less of an issue than when he was made the starter. Kizer was a good value at #52 (and the fourth pick in the last draft by the team). He should have been sat and developed for 1-2 seasons at least while a game manager (Kessler) or option QB (Hogan) or even down-and-out veteran (Osweiler) took the lead. For Kizer to see the field after an 0-8 start would have been one thing... the season's tanked at that point so you might as well see what the rookie has. I also very firmly believe any QB but Kizer would not have lost games against the Colts, Jets, or Titans.
Honestly, it simply has to get better with an OC. I think it is the curse of an OC getting a HC gig and having the giant egl that he can do everything. His offense wasn't boring until he became a head coach and Hue actually knew how to call plays until he became a HC. Any of these proven guys would be better, I believe, if they simply went back to just running and offense instead if the whole team....hell look at Pat Shurmur McDaniels, they are both about to get another HC gig after their crash and burn first tries.
I think a ton had to do w both of their QB situations...Tebow is out of football and not even sure who Shurmur had when he was here
So, you not only are privy to exactly what was said inside the halls of Berea, you also know what was in Hue's mind? See above Doesn't anyone else wonder why Deshaun has NEVER produced a copy of this alledged text? And Brock certainly proved him wrong in Denver. No? Correction: Sashi released him. Jackson clearly (according to your own post) wanted to keep him around.
It's been quoted and written down. See above By suggesting Deshaun Watson did not get a text from Hue, you're strengthening the case that he didn't want him at #12. Completion %: 55.8 QB Rating: 72.5 TD %: 2.9 INT %: 2.9 Against Kizer's... Completion %: 53.6 QB Rating: 60.5 TD %: 2.3 INT %: 4.6 Limiting the turnovers (can't believe we're attributing that ability to Osweiler) would certainly have helped to win a couple games. The fact is: Hue miscalculated thinking that Kizer would develop. Maybe because Hue and his massive, suffocating ego heard everyone say "this kid needs two years" and thought "I can make it happen in half an offseason".
