Not sure where the 'twitter boob' part comes in but I'm going to assume that has to do with some of the negative reporting going on with Jackson.

It's true that players do have an affect on the decisions of other players when they lobby for them to come to town, but to say that will overrule a players thought process entirely would be a bit misleading.

Plus, we don't know how many players will be willing to back Hue. Depending on whether or not you believe any of the rumors out of Berea, some players were not pleased with Jackson taking the stance that he wasn't winning because he didn't have enough talent.

As it stands now, the only facts that we know for certain are the Browns have one win in two seasons with Jackson as the head coach and DeShone Kizer put up a historically awful year as Hue's choice to lead the offense. We also know that a running back would likely question coming in because of how little Crowell was utilized in many games this season, basically killing his market value (something players are aware of) and there is no certainty on just how much influence Jackson will have on the play calling this year. We also know of players that have been offered more money to play in Cleveland and have turned it down to play elsewhere.

I'm fine to simply disagree with you on this because I can't see us coming to any kind of agreement on it.

The coach is definitely a factor that cannot be ignored.

I can understand the line of thinking with bringing back Hue, but it doesn't change that Hue has one win in two seasons.

There are still plenty of coaches that would jump at the opportunity to lead Cleveland because those jobs are very, very far and few between. You may not be able to land a big name, but all you need to do is land the right guy. If Dorsey sells it that he is there for the long haul and he was allowed to hire whomever he wanted with a 5 year deal I think the job sells itself rather quickly considering the youth on the roster and the wealth of picks to start the new regime with.

You may be sending a message to potential coaching hires that you are willing to stick with him and give him every chance to succeed, and for some players that may be a reason to give Cleveland another look but it's a high price to pay when you are trying to change the fortunes of an entire franchise. I disagree with keeping Jackson on and I think Cleveland would have been best served with letting Dorsey come in and do whatever he felt was necessary to right the ship.

I didnt say ignored I just said the other 3 can trump the coach especially $$$$

Despite only 1 win he still has the players behind him which says something about him.

I can think of at least one player that has stated they were displeased with how the season played out and another one that was irritated at the 'no talent' comment. It's fair to speculate that there are players that are not in Hue's corner and losing football tends to breed that.

Players have already turned down more cash from Cleveland to play elsewhere. It's something that will not change until they start to win football games. There are players that will play anywhere for money, but not every player will do that. We've all heard press conferences after a player signs a new contract where they discuss how they really wanted to be in a certain situation and play for a certain coach.

Situations matter, and the coach is probably the biggest factor in creating situations that are welcoming for certain players. Winning is the ultimate grease and losing is the ultimate grit. That's just how it is.

Not to mention the one selling point so conveniently ignored that is tied in with the coach... winning.

Jacksonville is more than good enough to win the Super bowl this year. Remember they did blow out Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh. They have a decent chance to win again and if they do their defense and run game can keep them in any game. Unlike the Bills the Jags also have a decent QB that that can at least not be a hindrance, albeit not help. The Bills did well despite their QB.

Did you see the Bills Jags Game? There wasnt a QB on the field period.

Ya he was bad. But overall on the season Bortles has been serviceable. They can win with him as long as they don't rely on him. And at least his accuracy on deeper balls isn't close to 0%.

His end of the season stats dont look horrible until you realize that the only reason they look decent is a three game stretch where he faced the Colts, Seahawks and Texans to pad everything. During those three games he threw 91 passes completing 65 for a 71.43% completion percentage. He also threw 7 TDs no interceptions and 903 yards (301/game average). The Texans finished 24th on the season vs the pass and the colts were 28th. The seahawks defense he faced at that point was decimated by injuries.

The rest of the season he was 432 attempts 250 completions for a 57.87 completion percentage. 14 touchdowns and 13 interceptions 2784 yards (214.15 yards per game)

I would hardly call that serviceable. Maybe if he didnt turn the ball over so much but with interceptions nearly as high as turnovers no way you can come back with him as your guy. Yeah the Jags look set for a lang haul but the window can close quick so they need to strike while they are hot.

I agree that they need to move on from Bortles. But they need to find someone like Alex Smith right away. They can't simply reset with a rookie can they?

The point was that This Jacksonville team can win this year with Bortles. It doesn't meant they can't lose because of him though or that the chances are acceptable to keep rolling with him.

No chance. They don't run it well enough to overcome Bortles. They don't really stop the run all that well.

Good enough to blow you guys out in Pittsburgh before. It doesn't mean it'll happen again but they are good enough.

8-14 for 95 yards and an int. Also had a 48.2 QB rating (2nd lowest after the finale). That was Bortles’ stat line when the Jags beat Pitt 30-9.

It wasn't just Ben playing like crap. The Jags overcame Bortles.

Steelers we're leading 10-7 in the 3rd before Ben started handing out pick-6s like they were M&Ms. Fluke game. Its like suggesting Seahawks were a SB team this year because they beat the Eagles by 2 scores.

And? The Jags are good enough to do well when they are struggling. A team is a team. Defense, Ben playing like crap, etc. The Jags are not the Seahawks. They are a 3-seed, not sitting at home. I get that you and what feels like practically every Steelers fan out there says the Jags suck and you want some angry revenge over them but you lost to a goo team on a bad offensive day when they were struggling too. They won despite their QB. The facts is the result and the records to back it up as more than just a fluke.

And no this isn't just me projecting my QB hope from the Eagles to the Jags. The Jags had Bortles all year so it's apples to oranges.
